From YouTube: Verbrugge View - Golf
Description
In this week’s Verbrugge View, I enjoyed the sunshine at Hyland Greens. But, it wasn’t all fun and games. I took some hits as I was driving in the ball picker!
I also took a break to tell you about the joint school board meeting, including the statement on immigration. There’s also information about the most recent round of HPO training.
A
It
always
feels
like
it's
85
and
sunny
in
Bloomington
and
on
those
days
when
it
really
is,
there's
no
place
better
to
be
than
on
the
golf
course.
This
time
on,
River
booby
view
we're
at
Highland
green
and
we're
going
to
learn
a
little
bit
about
the
behind-the-scenes
about
the
operation
and
we're
going
to
do
a
little
ball.
Picking,
but
first
we're
going
to
take
our
hand
and
try
out
our
game.
A
So
I'm
here
with
golf
manager,
Rick
siddik,
and
we
want
to
get
a
little
bit
background
on
Highland
greens.
We
recently
had
a
study
done
on
the
golf
courses
within
the
last
year
or
so
and
have
started
to
implement
some
changes
to
try
and
maintain
the
future
viability.
That
courses
talk
about
Rick,
some
of
the
work
that
we've
been
doing
over
the
last
year
to
try
and
drive
more
people
to
our
golf
courses
and
improve
profitability.
Well,.
B
The
first
thing
we
did
was
a
higher
marketing
person.
Who's
been
hard
at
work.
We've
already
run
a
lot
of
new
programs
that
we've
not
run
in
the
past,
but
we
just
had
over
over
more
weekend,
I
think
for
veterans,
special
pricing
drawings,
we're
going
to
be
doing
something
for
Father's,
Day
and
and
and
throughout
the
summer,
especially
trying
to
reach
out
to
the
juniors
to
get
them
back
and
we've
had
our
golf
for
$99
for
kids
for
the
entire
season
and
that's
gone
okay,
we'd
like
to
make
it
about
five
or
six
times
better.
A
B
A
B
A
B
Is
corrected
but
I
would
say
talking
about
championship.
Golf
courses,
upwards
of
7,000
yards
in
length.
Duan,
is
5,400
from
the
back
fees.
The
fairways
are
why
they're
very
generous,
it's
very
easy
to
walk
easy
to
carry
not
a
lot
of
hills,
even
though
there
are
a
lot
of
trees.
We
have
young
people
come
in,
especially
that
the
Millennials
who
look
at
the
length
of
the
golf
course
and
chuckle
right
and
and
then
go
out
and
play
it,
come
back
in
and
find
out.
They
shot.
B
A
A
All
right,
we
are
with
Scot
Rosinski.
He
has
been
here
for
how
many
years
Scot
39
39
years,
Scot
has
treated
this
just
like
he
would
his
own
yard
and
I
think
probably
even
a
lot
better
right.
So
talk
about
some
of
the
work
that
you
do
around
here,
because
I
understand
that
you
have
to
be
a
jack-of-all-trades
here.
We.
C
C
A
C
We
need
to
kind
of
go
cross
ways
across
the
driving
range
okay.
Then
we
just
kind
of
move
our
way
towards
the
Greens
down
there
once
the
baskets
are
full.
We
come
back,
bring
them
in
running
through
the
ball,
washer,
alright
and
then
from
there
in
the
basket
through
the
ball
dispenser,
and
then
you
start
selling
them
again.
Alright,
let's
take
it
for
a
ride.
A
A
They've
been
out
golfing
trying
to
keep
the
cart
lined
up
what
the
balls
is
turning
out
to
be
more
of
a
challenge
than
I
thought,
it
would
be
driving.
This
cart
around
is
a
lot
of
work,
so
I
thought
I'd,
take
a
break
and
just
share
some
of
the
updates
from
around
the
organization.
First,
we
had
a
joint
meeting
with
the
school
board
in
the
City
Council
last
week,
and
we
touched
on
a
couple
of
really
important
topics.
A
First,
we
had
the
state
demographer
come
in
and
provide
the
council
on
the
board
and
updates
on
what
she's,
seeing
in
terms
of
demographic
changes
within
the
community
and
within
the
larger
metro
region,
and
what
that
possibly
means
for
our
community
is
we
look
to
the
future?
She
also
talked
about
the
census
2020,
which
is
something
that's
really
important
to
make
sure
we
get
an
accurate
count,
because
in
part
it
determines
the
amount
of
federal
money
that
flows
to
cities
across
the
country.
A
So
all
our
staff
will
be
working
closely
with
her
office
to
make
sure
that
things
like
new
apartment
developments
are
counted
for
sure
and
that
we
have
the
right
number
of
people.
Our
current
population
estimate,
according
to
her,
is
88
thousand
people,
so
we
continue
to
grow.
We've
added
five
thousand
people
in
the
last
five
years
to
the
city
of
Bloomington.
After
we
talked
to
the
demographer,
we
also
heard
a
presentation
from
Bill
Morris
and
Peter
Leatherman
at
Morris
Leatherman
company.
A
So
it
was
a
very
positive
step
for
the
school
board
in
the
City
Council
to
take
together,
because
we
represent
the
same
people
who
are
relatively
unique
in
the
metro
area
and
that
our
school
district
has
the
same
boundaries
as
our
city
for
the
most
part.
And
so
our
constituency
is
the
same.
It's
important
that
we
continue
to
work
together.
Moving
ahead
to
solve
the
issues
that
need
to
be
solved
in
our
community
and
working
together
to
prepare
a
better
future
for
everyone
in
our
community.
A
Another
thing
that
I
do
want
to
talk
about
is
the
most
recent
round
of
training,
high
performance
organization
model
that
we
had
in
the
last
couple
weeks
and
other
eighty
people
have
gone
through
the
training
and
development
process,
so
we
have
over
200
now
who
have
been
exposed
to
the
concepts
and
the
fundamentals
of
high
performance
organization.
So
what
does
this
mean
for
you?
A
First
understanding
what
high
performance
is
is
probably
something
that
I
need
to
do
a
better
job
of
communicating,
and
what
we're
really
talking
about
here
is
the
way
that
we
engage
our
employees.
The
philosophy
that
we
have
is
an
organization
that's
going
to
deliver
high
quality
services
to
our
constituents
to
our
citizens
and
to
make
sure
that
we
are
constantly
looking
at
the
processes
we
use
to
improve
them,
and
so
a
key
part
of
that
is
the
decision
making
process
within
our
city
structure
and
how
we
involve
employees
in
the
decision-making
process.
A
It's
understanding
what
the
work
of
leadership
is.
So
that
everybody
in
the
organization
shares
this
work,
even
if
much
of
the
work
you're
doing
on
a
day-to-day
basis,
is
task
oriented
how
you
do
that
work,
taking
time
to
think
about
how
you
do
that
work,
that's
the
work
of
leadership
so
always
evaluating
how
we
do
our
job
in
a
way
to
try
and
be
more
efficient
to
make
sure
that
it
is
reflective
of
the
services
that
our
residents
want.
I
think
we
deliver
a
lot
of
services
and
we
do
it
really.
A
Well,
we
probably
haven't
asked
at
what
level
residents
expect
those
services
to
be
delivered.
That's
part
of
the
work
that
we'll
be
doing
that's
part
of
an
HBO
culture
and
that's
some
of
the
work
that
we're
going
to
be
starting
on
now.
Our
executive
team
met
this
past
week
to
reflect
on
what
we
heard
from
the
staff
that
went
through
the
most
recent
training
sessions.
A
So
you'll
hear
more
about
that
I'm
going
to
do
my
best
to
make
sure
that
discussions
about
and
updates
on
the
things
that
we're
doing
related
to
high
performance
are
more
regularly
featured
here,
so
that
you
have
a
better
sense
of
what
we're
doing
and
what
we're
doing
together.
Now,
let's
go
back
to
picking
up
some
balls
and
finish
out
this
week's
verb
review
and
I'm,
seeing
mostly
within
the
confines
of
our
driving
range.
A
If
I
were
retrieving,
my
own
balls
I'd
probably
be
over
on
hold
number
one
and
two,
but
once
again,
I'm
learning
that
there
really
is
no
easy
job
around
the
city,
because
even
here
being
able
to
expertly
pick
balls
out
here,
so
they
were
not
having
to
go
back
and
forth
too
many
times.
This
takes
a
lot
of
practice
and,
as
usual,
it's
not
as
easy
as
it
seems.
