From YouTube: Verbrugge View – Golf
Description
In this edition of the Verbrugge View, City Manager Jamie Verbrugge visits Hyland Greens to hear more about City golf operations. He even takes a ride in the ball picker!
A
It
always
feels
like
it's
85
and
sunny
in
Bloomington
and
on
those
days
when
it
really
is,
there's
no
place
better
to
be
and
on
the
golf
course.
This
time
on
the
verb.
Rudy
view
we're
at
Highland
green
and
we're
going
to
learn
a
little
bit
about
the
behind-the-scenes
about
the
operation
and
we're
going
to
do
a
little
ball.
Picking,
but
first
we're
going
to
take
our
hand
and
try
out
our
game.
A
So
I'm
here
with
golf
manager,
Rick
CITIC,
and
we
want
to
get
a
little
bit
background
on
Highland
green.
We
recently
had
a
study
done
on
the
golf
courses
within
the
last
year
or
so
and
have
started
to
implement
some
changes
to
try
and
maintain
the
future
viability
of
the
courses.
Talk
about
Rick,
some
of
the
work
that
we've
been
doing
over
the
last
year
to
try
and
drive
more
people
to
our
golf
courses
and
improve
profitability.
Well,.
B
The
first
thing
we
did
was
a
hire
marketing
person
who's
been
hard
at
work.
We've
already
run
a
lot
of
new
programs
that
we've
not
run
in
the
past.
We
just
had
over
over
more
weekend,
I
think
for
veterans,
special
pricing
drawings,
we're
going
to
be
doing
something
for
Father's,
Day
and
and
and
throughout
the
summer,
especially
trying
to
reach
out
to
the
juniors
to
get
them
back
on
me.
We've
had
our
golf
for
$99
for
kids
for
the
entire
season
and
that's
gone.
Ok,
we'd
like
to
make
it
about
five
or
six
times
better.
A
B
A
B
A
B
Corrective
but
I
would
say
talking
about
Championship
golf
courses,
upwards
of
seven
thousand
yards
in
length,
Duan,
is
5,400
from
the
back
tees.
The
fairways
are
why
they're
very
generous,
it's
very
easy
to
walk
easy
to
carry
not
a
lot
of
hills,
even
though
there
are
a
lot
of
trees.
We
have
young
people
come
in,
especially
that
the
Millennials
who
look
at
the
length
of
a
golf
course
and
chuckle
right
and
and
then
go
out
and
play
it
and
come
back
in
and
find
out.
They
shot
a
tee
and
figure
out.
Why?
B
A
A
All
right,
we
are
with
Scot
Pierzynski.
He
has
been
here
for
how
many
years,
Scot
39
39
years,
Scot
his
treated
this
just
like
he
would
his
own
yard
and
I
think
probably
even
a
lot
better
right.
So
talk
about
some
of
the
work
that
you
do
around
here,
because
I
understand
that
you
have
to
be
a
jack-of-all-trades
here.
We.
C
C
We
used
to
kind
of
go
across
ways
across
the
driving
range
okay.
Then
we
just
kind
of
move
our
way
towards
the
Greens
down
there
once
the
baskets
are
full,
we
come
back,
bring
them
in
run
them
through
the
ball,
washers
all
right
and
from
there
in
the
baskets
or
the
ball
dispenser
and
then
start
selling
them
again
all
right.
Let's
take
it
for
a
ride.
C
A
This
takes
a
lot
of
practice
and,
as
usual,
it's
not
as
easy
as
it
seems.
Once
again,
we've
had
a
chance
to
see
the
side
of
the
city
that
maybe
you
hadn't
seen
before
so
appreciates
the
work
of
Rick,
Civic
and
Scott
Pierzynski
in
helping
us
this
week
on
the
verb.
We
give
you
and
we'll
look
forward
to
seeing
you
next
time.
