From YouTube: Verbrugge View - Kite Day
Description
Meet Mr. Kite in this week’s Verbrugge View! This local celeb teaches me how to fly a kite to promote Kite Day coming up on May 20.
You’ll also get an update on the potential, new community center, Hyland Greens and Public Works Open House also on May 20.
A
On
a
beautiful
day
when
the
sky
is
blue
and
a
nice
gentle
breeze
is
blowing,
there
are
very
few
things
to
do
as
enjoyable
as
flying.
A
kite
welcome
to
the
Verbruggen
view,
I'm
city
manager,
Jamie
babuji,
and
today
we
have
a
special
guest
to
help
us
promote
kite
day,
which
is
sponsored
by
our
Human
Services
Division.
It's
coming
up
on
Saturday
May
20th
from
noon
until
3:00
at
the
Valley
View
play
field
and
with
me
I
have
mr.
kite
a
true
celebrity
in
the
kite
flying
world.
Mr.
B
B
That
goes
in
there
I'm
a
real
pilot,
I'm,
a
model
airplane
pilot,
national
radio
control
sail
plane
champ
from
back
in
about
86
and
that
got
to
be
started
to
compete
on
a
world
class
area
of
the
sailplanes
electric
sailplanes
and
got
to
be
as
much
and
I
wandered
into
a
kite
shop
and
got
some
kites.
And
the
next
thing
you
know
I
got
hooked
so.
B
A
B
B
They
do
everyone
has
a
little
bit
different.
Some
will
pull
off
to
the
left
a
little
bit
Alma
Paul
from
the
right.
Some
will
fight
dead
on
straight
out.
So
you
want
to
do
a
kite
show
by
yourself.
You
pick
the
ones
apply,
the
right.
You
tie
them
off.
So
they're
here
left
guys
you
tails
over
here
and
then
you
get
some
and
that's
load
or
spending
of
13
kites
at
one
time
kidding
yeah!
That's.
B
A
You
what,
let's,
let's
take
a
look
at
some
of
these
kites
and
more
importantly,
see
if
mr.
kite
can
teach
me
the
finer
aspects
of
big
plane,
so
mr.
kite
names
many
of
his
kite,
you
mentioned
this
one
is
named
candy.
Yes,
the.
B
Smooth
people
said
well,
why
don't
you
fly
and
weigh
up,
but
then
you
lose.
You
lose
the
perspective
of
the
size
of
home
for
one
thing,
plus.
If
the
wind
comes
up
they're
hard
to
get
down
and
you're
going
to
be
late
for
dinner,
and
so
I
find
just
as
high
as
they
go
to
where
they
start
to
fly,
they
stabilize
themselves
down
he's
got
a
very
good
personality.
He's
tough
he's
got
a
big
smile.
He's
got
a
big
smile.
B
A
I
give
my
kite
flying
skills
ago.
We
thought
we'd,
give
you
a
quick
rundown
on
a
couple
other
things
that
are
going
on
a
couple
weeks
ago,
at
the
City
Council
study
session,
we
had
updates
on
two
issues
affecting
the
community,
the
first,
the
Highland
green
task
force
follow-up
regarding
the
the
Golf
Course
property.
We
are
in
the
process
of
making
operational
changes
to
try
and
improve
our
golf
operations
and
reduce
the
amount
of
operating
loss
that
we
have
on
an
annual
basis.
Some
of
the
recommendations
came
from
the
task
force.
A
The
other
part
of
the
recommendation
from
the
task
force
had
to
do
with
the
Highland
greens
property
itself,
there's
ten
acres
along
Normandale
Boulevard
that
is
unutilized
and
may
be
available
for
development.
So
we
talked
to
the
council
about
putting
together
a
request
for
proposals
to
the
development
community
to
see
if
we
can
financially
leverage
that
property
to
help
make
other
investments
in
golf
or
elsewhere
in
the
community.
A
This
is
an
ongoing
discussion
that
we've
been
having
again.
We
had
a
task
force
last
year.
They
made
recommendations
to
the
City
Council.
Since
that
time
we
have
been
working
on
looking
at
partners
for
this
project,
as
well
as
trying
to
look
at
some
different
site
options
that
we
may
have.
So
we
are
putting
together
a
memorandum
of
understanding
for
partners,
and
then
we
will
also
be
narrowing
the
scope
of
the
potential
sites
for
a
community
center
and
again
we'll
be
coming
back
to
the
council
in
June
to
have
another
conversation
with
them.
A
The
last
thing
I
want
to
mention
is
that
our
public
works
department
will
be
having
their
annual
open
house
coming
up
on
Saturday
May
20th
from
9:00
until
noon
so
be
sure
to
go
out
there
and
support
your
colleagues
and
Public
Works
bring
your
family
out.
It's
a
fun
event.
Our
folks
over
in
Public,
Works
I
know
they
take
a
lot
of
pride
in
showing
off
all
of
the
equipment
and
all
of
our
facilities
and
I'm
sure
promises
to
once
again
be
a
great
community
event.
A
B
A
A
B
A
A
He
looks
so
happy
to
be
up
there,
though
independent.
So
there
you
have
it
an
experience
with
a
real
celebrity
mr.
kite,
who
taught
us
how
to
fly
a
kite
today,
he'll
be
at
our
human
services
tie
stage
on
Saturday
May
20th
from
noon
to
3
p.m.
at
Valley
View
play
field,
there
will
be
live,
entertainment,
there
will
be
contests,
there
will
be
drawings
for
prizes,
and
a
couple
thousand
of
your
Bloomington
residents,
neighbors
will
probably
be
out
here
having
fun
as
well.
Make
sure
you're.
