Hi, my name is christina feldman and I'm a fiber artist.

I'm denise presnell,, I'm a painter, mixed-media artist. I live in sheboygan wisconsin and I have been.

Doing this for ever.

Today, we're at the inez greenberg gallery and the exhibition is.

A

Called layers, it's kind of the basis of my work, it's multiple pieces, layered on.

A

Top of each other and then layers that happen with shadows and light on the work.

A

The work is all very current and the most part the work is oil and coal.

Blacks, animal, which is medium a lot of people, don't know what that is, and.

B

There's a few acrylics on canvas as well, but the work is all abstract.

B

My style is using intuitive abstraction, so I go into my studio. I don't have.

B

Anything in my head about what's gonna happen and then just go.

B

So it's something that is really energized me in the last couple of.

B

Years yeah so their fiber art, meaning I'm.

A

Using paper and fabric and stitching all of the pieces.

A

The process is, I take thin wire and I create a shape with that and then I hand stitch either the paper or.

A

The fabric around that shape to create these little individual pieces that I.

A

Then assemble together into a larger piece, they're all inspired by nature or.

A

Places I've been, but it's sculptural and also painterly. I.

A

Like to think of it, I'm kind of painting with shapes that are three-dimensional.

A

So that my word there's a lot of layering of marks and color and line.

This full black medium unable to dig that down two layers and bring up these.

B

And I started in painting to show off even them in so they're gonna see a lot.

B

Of thin discolored marks, I use all kinds of unorthodox tools. I'd rarely use.

B

A paintbrush these days, I used on breyers of lowers tools that this.

B

Straight the paint across the surface lengthen use bubble, wrap like roll the.

B

Paint onto bumper wrapped it sizes a bubble, wrap which I've got a lot of and.

B

Press that on to the surface, so it's almost like a little bit like a cup.

Making process, as well as painting I'll dig into the surface, with tools to.

B

Create more linear work have a big pallet, I'm not shy of color, so they'll.

B

See blues and reds and greens and all in one.

Thing so that's probably what will strike them,? They have a lot of.

My recent trip to iceland was a huge inspiration with a couple of the.

A

Pieces, in fact, this one behind me was inspired by the glacier that we saw.

A

And then I was in paris last fall, which this floral piece is actually inspired.

A

By so my travels obviously inspire, but it's just like the world around me. So.

A

What I'm seeing? What I'm like kind of intrigued by whether it's a picture, I've.

A

Seen through the hubble telescope, or something that I'm encountering in a.

A

Museum or just in a hike out of doors, so all those things kind of get into my.

A

Head and then come out in these pieces.

When I do artwork of any style or any.

B

Kind of any age I've always found myself looking at color first, and so I think.

B

Color is really something that's just really resonates with me, and I want to.

B

Work with color, I want to express myself with color. So that's that's really. What.

Inspires the process.

Together and I've been exploring some weird things like I put a clock.

Mechanism in one of my pieces, so I've just been having fun trying out new stuff and so.
