Take a virtual tour of artist Ann Landreman’s Viewpoint exhibit presented by Artistry. The Atrium Exhibit is up until July 19.

Today, we're at the atrium gallery- and this is my exhibit called viewpoint.

A

That is presented by artistry.

A

Viewpoint has a couple different definitions: one is sort of a mental attitude or an interpretation.

A

And it's also a place or some place that you observe.

A

So you're, where you're looking from a certain view.

A

This piece is called garfield bay and that's an actual place.

A

One thing I love in doing my artwork, I love layers and I especially like.

A

Places that have layers of water, which you'll see in a lot of my pieces,.

A

Where you'll see water and then you'll see a land form and then you'll see.

A

Like the boathouse is here and then you'll see more water.

A

And this is a real place, but obviously not.

A

Totally realistic, but not totally abstract, it's sort of.

A

Using my imagination to create a place. so.

A

I grew up on a river in a small wisconsin town.

A

And I spent my childhood and young adulthood sort of exploring.

A

Rivers and lakes and ravines and places like that, so I.

A

Had a love of water and then I moved to minnesota, which.

A

Again, had many rivers and lakes and have lived.

A

Here for a long time, and my husband is from the state of.

A

Washington and every year we do an annual trip in the summer and.

A

We go out there and we spend a few weeks at a large.

A

Mountain fed lake called lake ponderay and many of the.

A

Images in this exhibit show things from.

A

Those those three places. this actually is called lake pondere and.

A

This was the beginnings piece for this whole series and sort of.

A

Launched the feeling of you know, sort of the.

A

Semi-Abstraction realistic, but layers.

A

Patterning blending things like that.. One thing I love is: I love color. I love.

A

Pattern, I love the subtlety of the blending of the paints.

A

This is a minnesota painting, it's called mississippi layers.

A

And I kind of like the feeling of when I've.

A

Gone down to the river and see again not only layers of the.

A

Land but layers of water., so this piece is a two panel piece.

A

And as I mentioned earlier, I grew up in alongside a river in wisconsin and.

A

This side of the painting is that wisconsin.

A

Environment and this side, as I referred to going to.

A

The pacific northwest each summer. This side refers to the pacific.

A

Northwest and the boat sort of navigates us through.

A

Both of those places and through the memories and.

A

Feelings of those two places., this piece is called down river and again, this is.

A

This is out near lake ponderay, it's down, but.

A

It's down the river from the lake and one of the things I add often.

A

Into my pieces, are houses and houses, sort of kind of ground.

A

The piece in terms of relating to the feeling of home- and this is sort of.

A

An overlook but the emphasis, the reason I pulled the.

A

House out is to emphasize that feeling of home.

A

And looking look kind of an overlook of the expanse.

A

So this piece is called panorama, and this is.

A

Actually, it's simplified, but it's kind of the view that we see every.

A

Summer, when we go out to lake ponderay and I use birds.

A

And they're the boat and the birds are attached separately, they're raised away.

A

From the piece a little bit just to add some interest, but the birds.

A

Are kind of like the observer, like looking into the piece.

A

And they're kind of like us looking at the art.

A

Kind of like what you know what they're seeing they're looking in.

A

They're looking out they're kind of adding that perspective.

A

All of these places in this exhibit are places that.

A

Are fairly meaningful to me and the landscape, the bodies of water.

A

Other natural forms that show up in this artwork.

A

And this collection is sort of not only describing those places.

A

But interpreting them adding feeling to them.

A

Expressing sort of broader meanings through the landscape.
