From YouTube: Artist Interview: Beau Walters
Description
Beau is working on a series of photographs to visually document the current moment. This ‘time capsule’ will be assembled into a printed zine and distributed through Little Free Libraries in his neighborhood. Creative Neighborhoods: COVID-19 Work Projects was launched by the Office of Arts + Culture and Create Boulder: https://boulderarts.org/public-art/creative-neighborhoods/covid-19-work-projects/
A
A
I
am
from
yes
so
my
creative
career,
I'm
a
filmmaker
and
photographer
mostly
I
do
make
some
other
analog
sound
devices
as
well,
but
mostly
filmmaking
and
photography
and
yeah,
I'm
a
cyclist
and
a
skier
and
yeah.
So
that's
about.
A
B
A
A
I
was
working
for
a
photographer
here
in
town
named
marla
rutherford,
and
so
I'm
a
kind
of
a
photo
assistant
for
her,
as
well
as
like
a
second
photographer.
A
So
obviously
we
couldn't
really
do
many
photo
shoots
because
of
the
pandemic,
so
that
stopped.
I
was
also
working
in
the
the
department
of
cinema
and
moving
image
arts
at
cu,
doing
like
technical
advising
and
like
dark
room,
stuff
and
analog
filmmaking
at
the
university.
But
obviously,
once
you
know,
the
pandemic
started
students
weren't
there.
So
I
I
had
to
stop
that
and
then
I
was
also
working
in
a
little
middle
eastern
restaurant,
a
few
hours
a
week
called
arabesque
and
they,
you
know,
had
to
shut
down.
A
So
basically,
all
three
of
my
jobs,
kind
of
went
poof,
which
was
sad,
but
it
kind
of
gave
me
some
time
to
reflect
and
figure
out
what
I
actually
want
to
do,
which
I
still
don't
exactly
know
but
yeah.
It's
it's
been
kind
of
a
crazy
few
months,
but
you
know.
B
A
A
A
A
A
So
yeah
a
little
bit
about
the
project
that
I
did.
I
made
a
zine,
which
I
should
show
one
second.
A
A
So
I
went
on
a
lot
of
bike
rides
and
I
went
on
a
bike
ride
kind
of
out
east
to
erie,
and
I
found
all
these
balls
that
were
behind
erie
high
school
and
I
just
thought
this
is
kind
of
weird,
because
all
these
balls
are
abandoned
and
usually
you
know,
there'd
be
kids
out
playing
and
there
would
be
people
you
know
not
abandoning
their
balls.
So
I
decided
to
collect
all
these
balls
and
I
found
like
this
milk
crate
back
there
and
I
had
a
bungee
cord.
A
So
I
like
bungee
corded,
the
milk
crate
onto
my
bike,
and
I
brought
all
these
balls
home
and
I
photographed
all
the
balls
and
then
I
made
the
zine
and
it's
basically
just
pictures
of
all
the
balls
just
in
different.
You
know
ways
where
I
arrange
them,
and
so
I
had
these
pictures
and
I
was
like
what
am
I
going
to
do
with
these
and
then
I
just
then
I
got
the
stipend
for
the
kobit
work
project.
I
said:
okay,
let's
make
a
z.
A
In
the
little
free
libraries
throughout
my
neighborhood-
and
so
if
you
don't
know
what
a
little
free
library
is,
it's
basically,
this
little
box,
that's
out
front
of
people's
houses
and
it's
kind
of
like
a
free
book
exchange
people
put
a
book
in
take
a
book,
so
I've
been
basically
putting
these
scenes.
I
printed,
I
think,
50
copies
of
these
and
yeah,
so
I
put
them
out
in
the
little
free
libraries
and
people
can
go
grab
one
for
free
and
yeah.
A
It's
just
kind
of
like
a
a
metaphor
for
kind
of
the
abandonment
that
we're
all
feeling,
both
like
kind
of
interpersonally,
where
we
can't
really
like
connect
with
each
other,
and
we
feel
that
we're
disconnected
so
yeah
it's
these
balls
kind
of
represent
how
I
feel
and
how
I'm
sure
a
lot
of
other
people
feel
with
not
being
you
know,
being
able
to
do
what
we
what
we
used
to
be
able
to
do
so.
Yeah,
that's
the
zine.
A
It's
called
26
balls,
I'm
in
the
newlands
neighborhood,
which
is
kind
of
like
north
boulder
near
north
boulder
park.
So
I
think,
as
far
as
I
know,
there's
still
a
bunch
of
them
out
there
in
the
in
the
library.
So
if
anyone
wants
to
go
grab
one
they're
more
than
welcome
and
yeah,
so
it's
in
the
newlands
neighborhood,
it's
called
26
balls
and.
A
Yeah
so
personal
info,
so
back
on
the
back
here
you
have
my
name,
you
have
my
website
and
then
you
have
my
like
social
media
handle
thing,
so
you
can
find
me
on
instagram
or
or
whatever
yeah.
So
that's
my
info
and
yeah.
You
can
go
to
beauwalters.com
and
see
who
I.
A
A
Anything
else
I'd
like
to
share
not
really
but
basically
just
stay
positive
to
all
the
people
out
there
I
mean
it's
been
crazy,
I'm
sure
for
you,
sarah,
for
me,
it's
been
crazy,
but
yeah.
I
just
have
really
been
like
retreating
into
nature
and
going
camping
and
trying
to
you
know,
stay
sane
through
it
all
because
it's
crazy
and
yeah,
I
don't
know,
just
stay
positive
and
try
to
keep
a
smile
on
your
face.
