Description
City of Boulder Homeworks Program
A
Hi,
my
name
is
Barbara
long
I
work
for
the
city
of
Boulder,
Department
of
Housing
and
Human
Services
in
this
video
we'll
meet
Naomi
triplet,
who
bought
an
affordable
home
through
the
city's
homeworks
program.
Homeworks
is
one
of
the
city's
affordable
housing
programs
to
help
lower
moderate
and
middle-income
households.
Be
able
to
afford
to
buy
a
home
here
in
Boulder.
Homeworks
is
one
of
several
programs
that
the
city
offers
to
reach
the
goal
of
having
ten
percent
of
the
cities
homes
permanently
affordable
in
different
videos.
A
We'll
take
a
look
at
some
other
programs
that
also
help
to
achieve
this
goal.
Homeworks
offers
homes
at
below-market
prices
to
income
eligible
buyers.
The
resale
prices
of
these
homes
are
then
limited,
so
they
can
remain
affordable
to
future
generations.
Naomi
bought
her
home
at
the
peloton
one
of
the
many
developments
in
Boulder
that
feature
affordable,
as
well
as
market
rate
units.
Let's
talk
with
Naomi
about
her
experience.
B
Spared
no
expense.
There's
no
doubt
about
that.
There's
a
gorgeous
swimming
pool
with
a
lovely
view
of
the
city
on
the
rooftop
and
it
has
hot
tubs.
It
has
barbecue
pits.
It
has
a
beautiful.
The
pool
is
lovely,
I'm
going
to
take
advantage
of
that
this
coming
summer
because
you
can
go
into
the
shallow
end
and
just
paddle
your
feet.
If
you
want,
you
know
most.
A
A
A
Boulder
the
program
has
been
around
since
2000,
but
but
now
there
are
more
units
available
than
ever
before
and
in
the
past,
we've
relied
on
word
of
mouth
and
the
website,
but
now
we're
realizing
that
we
need
to
reach
out
to
the
community
and
make
broader
efforts
to
get
more
folks
to
know
that
these
programs
are
available.
It.

Own,
an
affordable
home,
your
mortgage
payment
is
fixed.
You
know
that
it
won't
go
up
every
year,
except
for
increases
in
taxes
and
insurance.
Renting
is
a
less
stable
situation.
Many
families
prefer
to
own
their
homes,
so
they
know
that
their
kids
can
go
to
the
same
school
that
their
mortgage
payment
is
going
to
be
a
manageable
fixed
payment.
I
thought
I
couldn't
ever.
B
A
B
A
There
are
some
exciting
possibilities
which
will
include
affordable
housing,
a
washington
village,
which
will
be
cohousing
the
redevelopment
of
the
armory,
some
projects
in
north
boulder
and
other
places
throughout
the
community.
Right
now
it
says
development
at
Northfield,
common
Starkfield
village,
which
is
around
J
road
and
kalmia,
is
being
built,
and
it
includes
many
affordable
units.
Many
of
these
properties
can
go
under
contract
as
soon
as
income
qualification
is
completed.
Take.
