From YouTube: West Boulder Senior Center - Then Came the Flood
Description
Video documenting restoration and re-opening of the West Boulder Senior Center after the September 2013 flood.
A
Hi
I'm
Renee
flick
the
operations
coordinator
for
senior
services
back
in
July.
We
had
our
annual
maintenance,
shutdown
and
I
was
very
excited
about
all
the
opportunities
we
had
to
give
the
center
of
facelift,
and
at
that
time
we
we
went
through
to
figure
out
what
would
really
help
beautify
the
center.
When
we
finished
up,
we
found
out
that
everybody
was
loving
it.
So
we
were
very
excited
about
that.
A
Then,
when
the
floods
came,
you
were
worried
because
a
lot
of
mud
and
water
came
in
and
we
were
very
saddened
to
hear
that
we
had
a
lot
of
mud
and
water
damage
through
the
front
part
of
the
facility.
At
first
we
thought
they
were
just
going
to
dry
it
out,
but
the
the
actual
drywall
sucked
up
most
of
water-
and
you
realize
that
we
even
have
to
cut
the
drywall
up
about
a
quarter
of
the
way,
and
then
we
lost
all
the
carpeting.
There
was
actually
a
silver
lining.
A
The
whole
thing,
because
we
had
all
new
carpeting
put
in
all
new
drywall
as
well
as
the
tile
in
the
bathroom.
She
was
redone
again
and
they
found
the
leaking
pipe.
That
we
couldn't
find
before
and
also
meals-on-wheels
area,
they
found
a
pipe
that
was
meaning
to
be
fixed
in
their
wall,
to
lots
of
great
things
from
the
fact
that
while
we
get
flooded,
then
we
were
closed
for
two
and
a
half
months.
But
the
fact
that
we
could
find
these
things
really
impressive.
A
We
had
a
challenge
with
the
staff
needing
a
home
in
an
office.
Home
cy
office
was
gracious
to
open
up
their
offices
and
we
office
some
of
the
resources
folks
over
at
East.
We
also
moved
meals
on
wheels
over
to
East
ESO
es
with
EE
booked,
because
this
center
was
also
close
to
the
seniors.
Of
course,
I'm
standing
here
in
our
second
lobby
and
I
really
wanted
to
showcase
this
area.
A
We
spent
some
time
really
thinking
through
of
how
we
would
do
our
coffee
bar
and
just
a
little
area
to
sit
here
and
make
this
more
of
a
lounge
feel.
With
the
TV
and
the
nice
new
furniture
and
because
of
the
floods,
we
were
able
to
get
all
new
carpeting
in
here,
so
it
was
really
the
silver
lining
we
were
talking
about
before
we're.
A
Looking
now
down
our
main
hallway,
where
most
of
our
offices
are,
and
actually
because
of
the
new
carpeting
and
the
codebase,
it's
really
given
the
hallway,
even
a
brighter,
more
open
field,
now
we're
getting
some
shots
of
our
front
lobby
where
most
of
the
water
came
through
the
doors
right
there,
and
we
did
reconfigure
this
Lobby
once
the
carpeting
was
put
back
in
and
everything
dried
out,
we
put
the
new
computer
stations
more
in
the
center
of
the
room
and
just
opened
it
up
quite
a
bit.
We
reopen
December.
Second,
with
very
rave
reviews.
A
It
was
just
an
opportunity
for
the
seniors
to
get
back
into
their
Center,
and
the
staff
was
just
so
excited
hello.
Everyone
I'm
very
happy
to
be
in
this
lovely
new
office.
I
am
very
extended
to
be
in
my
office.
Everybody
was
just
so
happy
to
get
back,
especially
meals,
on
wheels
and
get
the
meals
going
again
and
just
get
back
to
our
routine.
We
had
like
a
small
reception.
We
had
cookies
and
coffee.
