A
Welcome
to
inside
Boulder
news,
I'm,
Mike
baƱuelos,
exciting
changes
are
underway
along
the
portion
of
fifteenth
Street
between
arapahoe
avenue
and
canyon
boulevard
construction
started
this
week
is
part
of
a
larger
effort
to
beautify
the
commercial
stretch
and
create
what
will
be
known
as
the
fifteenth
street
design
district.
The.
B
Goal
of
it
is
to
just
revamp
and
improve
the
whole
look
at
fifteenth
Street.
It's
very
exciting.
We're
going
to
have
a
brand
new
sidewalks
throughout
up
and
down
the
entire
street
new
trees
tree
grates
irrigation
systems.
We
have
LED
street
lights
coming
in
an
artwork
that
was
actually
designed
by
boulder
high
school
students.
There
will
be
bike
racks
installed,
all
up
and
down
fifteenth
Street
just
to
help
with
accessibility
and,
of
course,
encourage
people
to
ride
bicycles
and
use
alternate
means
of
transportation
throughout
the
downtown
area.
B
A
Improvements
are
funded
by
a
2011
voter-approved
Capital
Improvement
bond.
More
information
is
available
on
the
city's
website.
This
week
the
transportation
division
installed
the
second
living
laboratory
demo
project
as
part
of
the
2013
update
to
the
communities
transportation
master
plan.
This
time
officials
are
testing
what
is
called
a
buffered
bike
lane
on
University
Avenue
between
ninth
street
and
broadway.
So.
C
The
buffered
bike
lane
treatment,
creates
a
comfort
zone
for
bicyclists.
There
is
more
space
between
parked
cars
and
the
bike
lane,
and
there
are
some
markings
there
that
provide
a
social
cue
for
drivers
that
are
entering
and
exiting
their
car
to
watch
for
bicyclists
and
we
didn't
do
the
whole
corridor.
We
have
a
bike
lane
west
of
ninth
Street.
That
is
the
treatment
that
it's
always
been,
which
is
just
a
standard
bike
lane.
C
A
Buffered
bike
lane
living
lab
will
remain
in
place
until
spring
2014.
The
city
is
encouraging
cyclists
to
ride
the
new
treatments
and
tell
the
city
what
you
think
inside
Boulder
news
will
continue
to
cover
new
living
labs
as
they're
installed
throughout
the
community.
Election
season
is
upon
us
and
it's
shaping
up
to
be
a
busy
one.
In
addition
to
a
longer
than
the
usual
list
of
ballot
initiatives,
Boulder
voters
will
be
asked
to
fill
five
out
of
nine
city
council
seats
to
incumbents,
makin
cows
and
Matt.
A
Applebaum
are
running
again
along
with
ten
other
community
members
who
hope
to
serve
more
information
about
all
of
the
candidates,
and
the
election
process
is
available
on
the
city's
website.
In
addition,
channel
8
will
be
offering
each
candidate
and
opportunity
to
record
a
videotaped
statement.
These
will
be
made
available
on
Boulder
channel
8.
Com
back
to
school
can
be
a
challenging
time
for
many
families,
but
this
year,
city
and
partner
agencies
teamed
up
to
make
the
process
less
daunting
and
to
provide
valuable
information
about
resources
in
our
community.
We.
D
Have
a
group
of
parents
as
well
as
several
community
agencies
who
advised
the
Family
Resource
Center
on
what
kinds
of
programs
and
services
they
would
like
to
see,
and
it
was
their
idea
to
organize
an
event
to
help
other
families
who
are
in
need
of
services,
and
they
decided
that
back
to
school
would
be
the
best
time
to
do
it.
So
it
was
a
great
opportunity
for
parents
to
get
connected
with
those
resources.
