A
Welcome
to
inside
Boulder
news,
I'm
Ashley,
Pearl
City
Council
unanimously
approved
the
2016
budget.
This
week
the
328
million
dollar
budget
represents
an
increase
from
the
2015
budget,
which
was
315
million.
The
new
budget
includes
over
40
new
employees
to
support
quality
service
to
the
community
funding
for
increased
capital
spending
in
an
emphasis
on
public
safety
and
quality
of
life
issues.
Some
of
the
new
employees
that
will
be
hired
will
include
two
police
officers,
a
fire
safety
educator
and
a
code
enforcement
officer.

More
information
about
the
city's
budget
can
be
found
at
Boulder,
Colorado,
gov,
/
budget.
The
city
has
teamed
up
with
the
county
and
local
woodworkers
to
combine
innovation
with
a
desire
to
reuse
wood
from
trees
that
have
to
be
removed
across
the
city,
including
those
infested
with
emerald
ash
borer
through
the
use
of
County
biomass
boilers.
The
city
will
use
most
of
the
wood
to
heat
public
facilities
this
winter.

E
Got
a
lot
of
character
and
it's
funny
because
people
when
they
see
it
when
they
see
the
finished
product
like
in
a
dining
table
or
whatever
they
speak
for
themselves,
they're,
just
it's
like
you're,
just
you're,
just
opening
it
up
to
this
beautiful
work
of
natural
art,
I
mean
every
piece
is
different:
they
they
have
depth
and
a
beauty
that
it's
it.
It's
almost
speechless.
Like
the
some
of
the
patterns,
you
get
it's
just
gorgeous,
so
you
look
at
it.
So
I
want
people
to
know,
there's
ikea
and
there's
American
Furniture
Warehouse.

and
this
month
there
are
several
upcoming
opportunities
for
the
community.
On
tuesday
november
seventeenth,
the
city
will
hold
an
open
house
for
the
living
lab
phase.
One
projects
which
were
designed
to
test
different
traffic
configurations
to
improve
cycling,
accessibility
around
town,
so.

Avenue
from
Broadway

protected

University

Harvard

as
what's
called
dashed
bike
lanes
that
allow
cars
to
encroach
into
it
if
they
have
to
pass
one
another.
And
then
we
have
buffered
bike
lanes
on
Spruce
Street.
We
also
have
barrier
protected
bike
lanes
on
baseline
road
from
30th
235th.
If
you.
A
Can't
make
the

you
can
find
phase
one
project
descriptions
photos
in
a
map
of
where
they're
located,
as
well
as
an
opportunity
to
provide
feedback
online
at
Boulder
living
lab
net
on
Wednesday
November
eighteenth
at
Crestview
elementary
school.
This
city
will
host
an
open
house
to
address
more
than
seven
different
current
and
planned
projects
happening
in
North
Boulder,
in
conjunction
with
a
boulder
valley,
comprehensive
plan
listening
session.
We.
G
Will
have
information
again
about
four
mile
canyon
creek.
We
have
three
different
projects
and
plans
going
on
the
project.
Team
is
really
interested
and
letting
you
know
about
the
design
of
the
underpass
at
nineteenth
Street,
also
talking
about
different
multi-use
path,
options,
further
east
and
getting
input
on
that,
and
then
looking
at
the
section
of
Four
Mile
Canyon
Creek
from
19
street
west,
and
what
are
some
flood
mitigation
options
and
multi-use
path
options?
We
have
a
street
reconstruction
that
would
be
occurring
on
North
Broadway
and
some
upcoming
years,
we'll
start
the
actual
design
next
year.
G
So
right
now
we
just
like
to
share
what
we
know
so
far
and
get
feedback
on
issues
that
we'd
like
to
incorporate
while
we're
reconstructing
North
Broadway
from
violet
to
us
36.
Our
other
project
is
a
long
19
street.
It
is
called
a
multimodal
connectivity
project,
so
we're
looking
at
how
we
can
improve
bicycling
and
walking
facilities
on
19
straight
from
Norwood
to
Yarmouth,
and
we
would
like
the
community
to
come
and
learn
more
about
that
project.
G
Let
us
know
what
their
experiences
are:
bicycling
and
walking
there
and
how
it
can
be
improved
and
if
there's
other
questions
or
concerns
that
they'd
like
to
see
us
address
in
that
project,
the
open
space
mountain
parks
division
will
be
featuring.
Their
information
for
the
north
trail
study
area
and
again
the
planning
department
will
be
there
with
information
about
the
boulder
valley,
comprehensive
plan.

H
The
east
arapahoe
transportation
plan
builds
on
the
work
that
was
done
last
year
as
part
of
envision
east
arapahoe.
But
this
time
last
year,
City
Council
decided
to
hold
off
on
land-use
planning
for
the
corridor
and
wrap
that
into
the
boulder
valley,
Comprehensive
Plan
Update,
which
is
happening
now,
but
in
the
meantime,
we're
continuing
to
focus
on
transportation
planning
for
the
east
arapahoe
corridor,
which
is
why
we've
renamed
the
project,
the
restore
rapaho
transportation
plan.
H
We
plan
to
see
more
in
commuters
coming
into
the
city
and
we've
also
seen
a
lot
of
new
infill
and
redevelopment
in
that
area
of
town,
and
so
what
we'd
like
to
do
is
make
the
transportation
corridor
work
for
all
modes
of
travel,
whether
you're,
walking
bicycling
accessing
transit
or
driving
your
car.
We
want
to
figure
out
ways
to
accommodate
safe
and
comfortable
access
for
all
different
types
of
travel.
More.

The
annual
lighting
of
the
Flagstaff
star
not
only
kicked
off
the
holiday
season
in
Boulder
this
week.
It
also
provided
an
opportunity
to
honor
and
celebrate
veterans.
I
The
boulder
star
has
so
much
meaning
in
this
community.
It's
an
opportunity
for
us
to
recognize
the
service
of
our
veterans
on
Veterans
Day.
It
also
is
a
symbol
of
the
warmth
of
the
holiday
season
that
shines
over
our
community
and
the
boulder
chamber
is
honored
to
have
a
role
in
bringing
this
great
asset,
great
community
spirit
to
our
community.

A
Tradition

For
the
very
first
time,
the
city
of
Boulder
will
host
snow,
much
fun
an
event
for
the
entire
family
that
will
light
the
central
park
area
with
200,000
LED
lights,
snow.
K
Much
fun
is
going
to
be
a
great
Phil
good
community
event.
It
highlights
our
beautiful
Civic
area.
It
brings
people
out
during
a
time
of
year,
where
maybe
they're
more
inclined
to
stay
home,
but
we
are
going
to
have
so
much
fun
and
so
many
wonderful
activities
for
the
community.
It's
really
a
great
opportunity
to
come
out
to
the
Civic
area
and
enjoy
it
and
see
it
in
a
new
light.
Our
official
Park
lighting
will
be
on
tuesday
november
seventeenth
at
five-thirty
p.m.
and
we
have
the
denver
broncos
joining
us
for
the
celebration.
K
A
Addition
to
the
lighting
ceremony
on
the
17th,
the
city
will
host
two
additional
family
friendly
event
nights
in
December.
The
park
will
be
lit
from
five
to
11
p.m.
nightly,
and
you
can
find
more
information
at
