A
Welcome
to
inside
Boulder
news,
I'm
Ashley
pril
results
from
the
community
survey
sent
out
in
January
in
February
were
presented
to
City
Council
this
week.
The
community
survey
is
sent
out
every
three
years
in
an
effort
to
gauge
what
the
public
thinks
about
topics
ranging
from
Parks
and
Recreation
to
government
services
and
public
safety.
Boulders
long
history
of
conducting
community
surveys
provides
interesting
trend
lines
to
see
how
the
city
is
doing
over
time
and
compared
to
national
benchmarks.
This
feedback
is
then
used
to
help
City
Council
make
important
budget
decisions
around
community
priorities.
We're.
B
Fortunate,
in
that
what
we
saw,
the
2014
survey
reflects
a
lot
of
the
council
priorities
already
underway,
such
as
what
services
are
available
for
the
homeless
population.
What
are
we
doing
with
affordable
housing?
How
are
we
improving
transportation
and
we're
fortunate
that
it
does
reflect
the
interests
of
both
the
community
and
so
on?
B
The
council
priorities
it's
good
when
those
surveys
reinforce
what
council
is
working
on
and
then,
of
course,
it
also
helps
us
to
say
how
are
we
doing
against
national
benchmarks
and
border
tends
to
do
very
well,
but
there
are
areas
that
maybe
we
could
do
better
in,
and
so
it
really
is
just
a
tool
to
help
keep
council
and
the
city
staff
focused
on
reflecting
the
interest
of
the
community.
You.
A
Can
see
the
results
of
the
community
survey
for
yourself
at
Boulder,
Colorado
gov
you'll
also
be
able
to
see
results
from
the
community
survey
conducted
in
2011.
If
you
don't
have
access
to
internet
there's
a
hard
copy
available
at
folders
main
public
library.
At
the
reference
desk
over
a
thousand
fifth
graders
filled
the
University
Memorial
Center,
and
see
you
this
week
for
the
22nd
annual
children's
water
festival.
The
festival
brings
water
protection
and
conservation
to
life
through
hands-on
experiences,
and
this
year
there
were
some
exciting
changes.
This.
C
Year
is
the
first
time
that
we're
actually
combining
the
boulder
valley
and
st.
vrain
valley
school
districts
to
make
it
bigger
and
better
really
enhanced
experience
for
the
students
and
I
am
thrilled
to
see
how
interactive
it
is.
So
the
students
are
really
getting
to
have
a
hands-on
experience
and
it's
super
engaging
I
just
witnessed
a
couple
of
the
presentations.
It's
a
lot
of
fun,
I
have
to
say,
I
wish
I
had
this
when
I
was
growing
up,
it's
very
cool
to
see
they
learn
so
much
and
I
I
think
it's
just
an
incredible
experience.
D
Did
a
huge
assembly
where
we
have
a
special
educator,
Stephanie
Weber,
who
put
together
this
presentation
that
really
provide
and
empower
students
to
have
these
tools
and
information
and
that
they
could
pass
on
to
their
parents,
and
so
we
really
wanted
to
focus
on.
How
did
students
react
appropriately
when
there
is
a
flood
emergency?
What
should
they
have?
You
know
when
it
comes
to
emergency
kit
and
what
are
risky
actions
and
safe
actions
that
they
should
be
taking
to.

It's.
E
A
calming
environment,
it's
relaxing,
we
have
the

that
runs
straight
through
the

it's
a
good

You
can
rub
elbows
with
entrepreneurs,
business
owners,
investors
and
government
officials
at
the
boulder
economic
summit.
This
year's
summit
will
feature
25
local
executives
that
will
discuss
the
advantages,
challenges
and
opportunities
for
manufacturing
products
in
Boulder.
This.
F
Is
a
very,
very
exciting
summit,
it's
the
7th
annual
economic
summit
that
we've
hosted,
but
this
is
the
first
time
we've
really
looked
at
boulders
manufacturing
economy.
We're
calling
this
year's
summit
made
in
Boulder,
because
it's
spotlighting
boulders
manufacturing
economy,
which
is
much
stronger
than
most
people,
realize
it
is
more
diverse.
It
is
more
robust.
It
covers
all
of
the
key
industries
that
are
driving
boulders
economy,
including
our
aerospace
industry.
Our
bioscience
are
clean
tech.
Rit,
our
natural
products
are
outdoor
recreation.
F
A
Their
visit
kicked
off
with
a
traditional
exchange
of
gifts,
but
there
was
one
gift:
they
weren't
expecting
a
special
scrap
book
that
contains
stories,
photos
and
handmade
artwork,
designed
to
thank
the
city
of
Yamagata
for
their
donation
of
over
11,000
dollars
towards
flood
relief.
The
funds
collected
by
our
sister
city
benefited
about
a
hundred
and
fifty
children
and
six
Boulder
childcare
facilities.
