A
Well,
there's
tap
stories
this
week,
council
moves
forward
with
energy
future
and
infrastructure
improvements,
ballot
items,
an
all-electric
fest,
makes
a
stop
in
Boulder
and
theatrical
teens
bring
Chicago
to
the
dairy
center
hi
I'm
Natalie
Wood
Boulder
City
Council
moved
a
step
closer
this
week
to
asking
voters
if
they
wish
to
create
a
local
power.
Utility
council
voted
unanimously
to
approve
two
ordinances
on
first
reading.
A
That
would
seek
voter
approval
for
the
creation
of
this
utility,
provide
counsel
with
authority
to
issue
bonds
to
pay
for
it
at
a
later
date
and
increase
the
Climate
Action
Plan
tax
to
pay
for
its
costs
that
would
be
required.
In
the
meantime,
council
members
had
a
variety
of
questions,
particularly
about
how
this
utility
would
be
managed
and
whether
to
place
a
limit
on
the
amount
of
bonds
the
city
could
issue
and
several
said.
They
would
like
to
see
some
language
that
addresses
these
issues.
A
A
Imagine
a
bus
that
uses
zero
fuel,
saves
hundreds
of
dollars
a
month
and
can
run
all
day
without
needing
to
recharge.
A
china-based
manufacturer
called
buid
has
created
an
all-electric
bus
fleet
and
they
brought
one
of
their
buses
all
the
way
to
boulder
for
city
officials
to
take
a
ride,
no
smok,
no
smell
and
no
diesel
emissions,
not
something
you
would
typically
expect
from
a
bus,
but
BYD
has
created
one
that
runs
completely
on
recyclable
battery.
A
B
A
Osborne
road,
the
bus,
alongside
council
members
to
see
what
it
might
be
able
to
offer
our
city
what
they
found
was
the
each
while
uses.
0
gas
has
a
completely
disposable
and
environmentally
friendly
battery
and
it
can
drive
almost
200
miles
on
a
single
electric
charge.
Vp
of
BYD
America,
Michael
Austin,
says:
there's
a
reason.
Such
a
special
bus
made
the
long
trip
to
the
boulder
area,
Boulder.
C
Has
already
said
they
want,
they
want
to
promote
high
renewable
content.
Well,
you
can
take
advantage
of
that
high
renewable
content
in
an
electric
transportation,
public
transportation,
taking
advantage
of
that
renewable
energy
which
today,
if
you're
only
diesel
buses,
you
don't
get
to
take
advantage
of
all
that
progress,
the
Colorado
and
Boulder
and
lions
that
they're
making
with
these
renewable
contributions
with
an
electric
bus.
C
B
Of
all-electric
vehicles
of
whether
they
be
cars
or
taxis
or
shuttles,
like
our
like
our
hop,
skip
and
jump,
you
know
I
just
think
the
time
has
come.
We
were
saying
today
it's
sort
of
passed
beta,
the
battery
technology
is
there
and
you
know
I,
think
we're
all
together
ready
to
begin
a
serious
switch
to
electric
powered
vehicles.
All.
A
Electric
buses
are
being
considered
as
a
possibility
for
the
new
bus,
rapid
transit
service
between
boulder
and
denver.
The
transit
lanes
should
be
under
construction
next
summer
and
the
goal
is
for
construction
to
be
completed
and
service
started
in
2015
energy.
Wasn't
the
only
important
issue
on
councils
minds
this
week
as
part
of
a
new
capital
investment
strategy?
Boulders
elected
officials
supported
asking
voters
to
approve
49
million
dollars
in
bonds
to
implement
a
number
of
unfunded
capital
projects,
including
critical
street
and
building
maintenance
and
other
high
priority
needs.
A
The
bonds
would
be
issued
doing
approximately
four
million
dollars
in
unallocated
revenues
and
without
raising
taxes.
City
officials
said
that
bonding
to
pay
for
these
projects
is
necessary
to
address
aging
infrastructure
and
make
necessary
repairs
before
more
costly
reconstruction
or
safety
concerns.
Become
emergencies.
Council
approved
the
measure
on
first
reading
and
we'll
discuss
it
again
on
a
gas
second,
while
the
capital
investment
strategy
is
intended
to
help
the
city
find
money
for
a
number
of
unfunded
but
critical
projects.
A
The
city's
capital
investment
program
is
the
annual
effort
to
chart
out
which
projects
are
ready
to
proceed
in
the
next
six
years.
This
week,
City
Council
toward
a
number
of
the
capital
improvements
program
options
to
gain
a
better
understanding
of
proposed
public
physical
improvements.
The
2012
to
2017
capital
improvements
program
includes
possible
funding
for
171
projects.
76
of
these
are
recommended
for
funding
in
2012.
The
tour
was
held
in
advance
of
the
of
the
July
21st
Planning
Board
public
hearing
and
City
Council's
study
session
on
August.
Ninth.
A
Both
meetings
will
be
a
time
to
review
the
recommended
draft
plan.
Dozens
of
aspiring
actors
are
putting
on
their
tap
shoes
to
bring
Chicago
to
Boulder.
The
Rocky
Mountain
theatre
for
kids
launched
a
new
program
this
summer,
targeted
at
teens
and
college
students
who
want
to
make
stage
their
profession
founder.
Michelle
romeo
says
she
couldn't
be
more
excited
to
give
young
people
the
chance
to
perform
in
chicago
and
explore
precise
acting
techniques.
We're.
D
Really
really
excited
about
it.
It's
a
rare
opportunity
for
young
people
to
have
the
opportunity
to
perform
in
Chicago
they're,
really
getting
tools
and
techniques,
but
they
don't
get
instead
of
a
regular
rehearsal
situation
and
community
theatre
or
even
in
high
school
theater,
the
directors
and
teacher.
So
they
don't
have
the
time
to
spend
really
training
the
actors.
So
we've
done
a
lot
of
method,
acting
work,
a
lot
of
work
and
specific
dance
technique,
obviously
sausage
than
our
focus
and
jazz,
as
well
as
a
vocal
technique.
A
The
curtain
for
Chicago
opens
on
july
twenty
second
and
runs
through
the
24th
at
the
dairy
center
for
the
arts
tickets
are
available
at
the
dairy
org
rocky
mountain
cedar,
hosts
ongoing
programs
for
kids,
teens
and
adults
check
out
their
website
for
more
information.
That's
all
the
time
we
have
for
this
week.
