have
also
been
responding
to
the
left-hand
canyon

which
broke
out
this
weekend
as
well,
forcing
homes
in
ward,
gold,
hill
and

A

kellwood
fire
and
the

canyon
fire,

fires
which
may
occur
in
boulder
county
this
year,
the
2020
fires
relief
fund
has
been
established.
This
has
been
in
partnership
between
community
foundation,
boulder
county
and
boulder
county.

dollars
has

you
haven't

so
already,
the
county
recommends
signing
up
for
emergency
notifications.
A
The
city
of
boulder
has
an
emergency
alert
system
where,
in
the
event
of
a
major
disaster
or
a
missing
person,
the
city
can
send
out
alerts
based
on
the
location
of
affected
neighborhoods.
The
sign
up
process
is
simple:
all
users
have
to
do
is
go
to
bowco911alert.com
and
register
in
multiple
locations,
while
the
boulder
police
department
still
uses
other
channels
of
communication,
such
as
social
media.
The
emergency
alert
system
allows
them
to
reach
a
more
specific
audience
to
sign
up
for
the
emergency
alert
system.
Please

boco911alert.com.
A
During
the
october
20th
council
meeting
boulder
city
council
adopted
the
2021
budget.
The
budget
reflects
strategic
reductions
and
significant
staffing
and
service
impacts
due
to
covenanting.
The
total
approved
budget
for
2021
is
341.7
million
dollars.
This
represents
a
nearly
28
million
dollar
decrease
over
the
adopted
2020
budget.
The
decrease
reflects
an
estimated
16
drop
in
sales
and
use
tax
revenue
in
2020.
A
sales
and
use
taxes
are
the
key
source
of
funding
for
core
government
functions.
The
budget
will
allow
the
city
to
perform
critical
public
safety
functions,
reinforce
its
commitment
to
basic
human
needs,
continue
implementing
vision,
zero
safety
improvements,
among
others
in
2020,
the
city
of
boulder
furloughed,
741
employees
and
laid
off
148..
A
Our
remaining
employees,
not
in
public
safety
roles,
took
pay
cuts
through
six
frillo
days,
which
resulted
in
1.7
million
dollars
in
cost
savings
in
2021.
The
budget
reduces
the
number
of
furlough
days
to
two
and
eliminates
merit
increases
for
the
year.
More
information
is
available
on
the
2021
budget
website,
with
winter
months
fast
approaching,
the
city
of
boulder
announced
earlier
this
month
that
it
will
continue
its
boulder
business
recovery
program
to
help
local
businesses
stay
open
this
winter.
A
The
extension
will
make
room
for
temporary
structures
and
heating
elements
to
make
dining
outdoors
comfortable
when
the
temperature
drops.
The
city
recognizes
the
challenges
faced
by
businesses
as
we
enter
the
colder
seasons
and
the
unpredictability
of
colorado
weather
over
the
next
upcoming
months.
Boulder
will
start
rolling
out
four
different
measures
to
support
retailers
and
restaurants
in
town.
A
B
First
measure
is
going
to
be
to
extend
the
closures
of
the
west,
pearl
and
university
hill
event
streets
and
we've
also
gotten
a
grant
from
the
colorado
department
of
transportation.
That's
going
to
enhance
these
closures
with
different
safety
messages,
as
well
as
heaters,
tents
and
other
things
to
make
it
more
comfortable.

It's
not
always
the

that
that
make
the
news,
and
I

everyone
sees
those

those
are
great.
But
for

it's
the
the
relationships

friendships

partnerships
we've,
built

I've
built
with
