A
We
got
inside
Boulder
news,
the
city
of
Boulder
lens
resources
to
help
contain
the
cold
springs.
Fire
Boulder,
County
care
connect,
needs
more
volunteers
to
provide
basic,
clean
up
and
yard
maintenance
for
seniors
in
need,
and
the
no
wood
tennis
courts
reopened
after
being
destroyed
in
the
sep
tember
2013
flood.
A
Welcome
to
inside
folder
news,
I'm
Ashley
pearl
reports
of
a
fire
north
of
nedherland
began
the
afternoon
of
saturday
july.
Ninth,
not
long
after
the
fire
was
large
enough
to
have
a
name.
The
cold
springs
fire
which
started
on
private
property
as
a
result
of
a
campfire
that
was
not
properly.
Extinguished
has
burned.
528
acres
and
eight
structures
had
been
lost,
it
burned
hot
into
the
week,
but
fire
officials
expect
one
hundred
percent
containment
by
Friday,
while
the
fire
was
in
the
county.
City
personnel
played
significant
roles
in
responding
to
the
emergency.
B
The
boulder
Municipal
Airport
obviously
is
available
for
any
disasters
in
the
city
of
Boulder,
and
in
this
particular
case,
I
got
a
call
on
saturday
afternoon
from
our
fire
department
saying
that
there
is
a
fire
and
they
would
like
to
use
helicopters
to
activate
a
hello
base.
Basically,
here
at
the
airport,.
C
B
C
We
had
seven
total
helicopters
assigned
to
that
to
the
incident
Oh.
In
addition
to
those
helicopters,
there
were
also
a
vast
number
of
fixed-wing
aircraft.
There
was
I
think
that
the
peak
was
12
fixed-wing
aircraft,
air
tankers
flying
as
well
as
five
supervision
aircraft.
So
we
had
a
total
of
twenty-one
aircraft
assigned
to
the
incident.
This.
D
Fire
was
very
impressive
from
the
from
the
people
here
in
Boulder
that
we
worked
with
as
well
as
the
integration
the
Forest
Service
assets,
because
what
they
did
was
they
didn't.
They
got
as
much
assets
on
the
fires.
You
could
possibly
have
so
I've
been
to
many
fires
over
the
years,
and
this
is
one
of
the
fires
where
they
committed
every
asset
available
and
they
didn't
hesitate
to
ask
aerotek.
E
Aritaum
calls
us
and
they
give
us
directions
where
they
want
us
to
drop
water,
and
we
talked
to
the
guys
on
the
ground
or
that
it's
an
open
area
with
nobody
on
the
ground.
They'll
give
us
some
specific
areas
to
to
try
to
cool
down
so
that
the
ground
forces
go
in
there,
the
ones
that
put
out
the
fire
we
just
kind
of
cool
it
down
and
get
the
flame
big
flames
drop
down.
So
they
can
go
in
and
take
care
of
the
fire.
C
So
really
what
the
aircraft
do
is
they
won.
They
allow
firefighters
to
get
close
to
where
they
need
to
put
one
line
in.
So
if
the
fire
gets
off
the
ground
and
up
into
the
trees,
there's
there's
nothing
really
anybody's
going
to
do
about
that
event.
Even
the
aircraft
are
not
that
effective.
Against
crown
fires,
which
is
the
fire
burning
through
the
tops
of
the
trees
by.
F
The
beginning
of
this,
the
short
tail
is,
it
was
an
unknown
origin.
In
the
beginning,
when
I
arrived
on
scene,
the
fire
was
a
little
less
than
an
acre
very
rapidly
transitioned
from
what
I
would
call
a
small,
manageable
fire
to
transitioned
up
into
the
crown
we
had
started,
having
single
trading
group
torching
and
from
there
the
fire
started,
making
significant
crown
runs
and.
G
As
things
evolved
over
the
next
couple
days
that
the
fire
was
really
centered
right
in
the
middle
of
a
lot
of
our
critical
water
infrastructure,
we
had
Lakewood
pipeline
just
to
the
north
of
it.
Barker
reservoir
is
a
huge
component
of
our
water
supply
that
was
just
to
the
south,
and
it
was
burning
in
the
direction
of
our
boot.
A
so
wat
er
treatment
plan,
which
is
our
primary
water
treatment
plant,
is
key
to
delivering
water
to
the
city.
G
So,
as
it
played
out,
we
were
working
with
public
safety
personnel
to
make
sure
we
had
contingency
plans
in
place.
In
the
event,
we
had
to
change
our
operations
to
protect
that
infrastructure.
We're
really
fortunate,
with
the
significant
support
that
was
brought
in
to
to
address
the
fire
that
we
were
able
to
maintain
operations
throughout.
So.
C
Up
on
the
fire
line,
we
actually,
we
didn't
just
have
just
run
the
hello
base.
Here
we
actually
had
resources
up
on
the
fire
as
well.
No
one
agency
can
deal
with
with
wildland
fires
and
once
they're
very
small,
it's
a
multi-agency
effort.
You
know
we
worked
with
the
military,
you
know
state
local
and
federal
partners,
everybody.
F
Always
wants
to
see
the
pictures
of
the
big
flames
and
the
fire
rolling
through
and
the
lots
of
smoke,
but
this
is
where
the
fire
really
gets
extinguished
it
going
through
and
the
minutia
the
dirty
work
of
being
on
your
hands
and
knees
and
finding
every
single
little
spot
that
could
reignite
in
the
wind
and
potentially
burn
down
a
house.
So
this
is
where
the
real
work
of
firefighting
gets
done.
Currently.

The
latest
updates
about
the
cold
springs
fire
as
well
as
disaster
assistance
and
disaster
preparedness.
Information
visit,
the
boulder
office
of
emergency
management
website
each
summer.
Boulder
county
care
connect,
provides
basic,
clean
up
and
yard
maintenance
to
seniors
in
need,
as
part
of
their
yard.
Buster's
program
yard
Buster's
is
powered
by
volunteers
and
the
goal
is
to
help
seniors
unable
to
maintain
their
own
yards
and
also
reduce
the
risk
of
Falls
and
accidents,
but
for
participants
in
the
program.
It's
much
much
more.
It.
H
H
I
Husband
had
been
diagnosed
with
cancer
and
was
receiving
chemotherapy
every
other
month
and
he'd
already
had
two
strokes
and
he'd
already
had
open-heart
surgery.
So
he
really
shouldn't
be
doing
the
work
that
he
used
to
do.
Although
a
lot
of
days
he
is
doing
the
work
and
I've
just
been
kind
of
protective
of
him.
I,
don't
like
him
to
work
in
the
middle
of
the
day
and
get
overheated.
He
doesn't
usually
listen
to
me,
but
I
try
my
best
well.
J
I
mean
when
you
talk
to
Richard
and
barber
you'll,
understand
ready,
they're,
just
fantastic
people,
but
the
other
part
of
it
is.
You
know
the
community
does
so
much
for
me
personally
for
the
bank.
We
wanted
to
give
back,
and
this
is
one
of
the
ways
that
we
give
back,
and
so
it's
something
we
do
for
the
good
of
our
hearts,
but
hopefully
it
up
somebody
else
to
write.
It
helps
us,
but
I,
hopefully
help
somebody
else
too.
They've
pulled
out.
H
Trees,
things
that
would
have
been
taken
me
hours
to
do
and
we're
not
just
talking
adults
we're
talking
they,
they
brought
their
families
with
them
on
a
weekend.
They
use
their
own
time
to
to
work
very,
very
hard.
I
may
not
look
it,
but
I
can
tell
you
I
do
need
help
and
I
can't
thank
them
enough
for
the
times
that
they've
come
out
to
help
me
yard.
A
Buster's
is
still
in
need
of
volunteers
to
reach
their
summer
goals

about
how
to

yard,
Buster's
org,
the
city
of
boulders,
no
wood
tennis
courts
are
officially
open
again
after
being
destroyed
in
the
sep
tember
2013
flood,
thanks
to
grant
money.
Funding
from
FEMA
and
the
the
tennis
courts
are
even
better
than
they
were
before
they.
K
Were
damaged
in
the
2013
flood
quite
heavily
filled
with
a
lot
of
silt
and
damaged
the
homes
down
to
the
south
behind
us
there,
and
it
did
caused
a
lot
of
problems,
a
lot
of
damage,
so
we
came
in
and
took
a
look
at
the
courts
and
and
what
we
needed
to
do
for
drainage
and
to
help
make
it
better.
So
next
time
we
didn't
have
the
same
problem.
Had
engineers
come
in
and
take
a
look
at
it
and
soil
folks
ended
up
in
the
end.
K
K
There
were
some
obstructions
in
the
creek
that
we
needed
to
clear
out:
we've
made
them
a
DA
accessible,
so
there's
a
ramp
over
on
the
east
side
that
you
can
come
down
and
get
on
to
the
courts,
which
is
a
really
good
thing
to
make
our
parks
and
we
tried,
with
all
our
new
park
renovations,
to
make
things
more
accessible
in
the
past.
People
have
not
actually
known
that
these
were
city
courts.
K
They
were
so
overgrown
with
trees
and
they
sit
next
complex
to
the
to
the
west
here
and
people
just
thought
it
was
the
condo
associations,
tennis
court,
but
they're
actually,
city
courts,
they're
open
to
the
public.
We've
got
a
big
sign
on
there
now
they're
great
cards.
We've
got
them
striped
there.
So
you
can
see
some
lighter
blue
lines
for
the
youth
programs
on
there.
That
was
done
with
some
grants
from
the
usta
Association
and
people
are
coming
out
and
joined
the
courts
to.
