Welcome
to
a
special
edition
of
inside
Boulder
news,
I'm
Ashley
pro
this
week
we're
taking
a
look
back
at
some
of
the
most
exciting
and
engaging
stories.
We've
told
on
inside
builder
news
in
2015
out
of
almost
300
stories.
These
are
our
channel
8
favorites
and
we
hope
you'll
enjoy
seeing
them
again.
On
Wednesday
night,
the
nation's
political
spotlight
shone
brightly
on
boulder
as
the
University
of
Colorado
hosted
the
much-anticipated
third
Republican
presidential
debate
at
CU
scores
event
center
line.
A
B
I'm
pretty
excited
about
the
debate
being
in
Boulder
I
owe
my
law
degree
and
my
student
loan
to
the
University
of
Colorado,
and
I
received
the
nomination
for
United
States
Senate
here
just
a
year
ago,
and
so
for
for
the
United
States
to
get
to
see
the
flatirons.
In
the
background,
the
beautiful
campus
at
the
University
of
Colorado
and
they're
now
experiencing
Boulder
great
great
opportunities
for
to
show
off
and
show
highlight
showcase
a
quality
of
life
that
you
can't
get
anywhere
else
in
the
country.
F
Seems
to
me
that
the
people
of
Boulder
have
been
very
welcoming
of
this
event.
Things
seem
to
be
going
very
well
just
across
the
street.
There's
a
free
speech,
zone
and
I
know,
there's
also
a
rally.
It's
meant
to
draw
attention
to
some
of
the
anti-immigrant
rhetoric
that
we've
seen
from
some
of
these
candidates,
but
I
think
it's
it's
healthy
dialogue,
it's
healthy
conversation
that
needs
to
happen
and
we're
happy
to
be
here
and
I.
Think
we're
happy
to
have
the
RNC
here
in
Colorado.
F
H
Know
it's
obviously
a
great
opportunity
for
our
campus
with
millions
and
millions
of
viewers,
but
really
in
the
long
term
when
people
are
seeing
pictures
of
the
flatirons
they're
hearing
about
Boulder.
Hopefully
they'll
take
a
vacation
here,
and
so
that
is
just
continued
economic
impact
from
this
debate.
Even.
A
Though
only
a
select
few
were
allowed
into
the
Coors
Events
Center
for
the
debate
and
500
media
here
in
the
spin
room.
The
debate
had
far-reaching
impacts
in
the
voter
community
and
ignited
a
variety
of
conversations
Tony's
not
far
from
the
political
spotlight
activists
gathered
peacefully,
the
central
park
bandshell
prior
to
marching
up
Broadway
to
the
Cu
campus,
we're.
J
K
C
A
L
I'm
here,
when
federico
pinas
campaign,
my
country,
my
vote
and
its
to
encourage
that
the.
L
That
may
be
to
focus
on
immigration
reform
when
they
get
into
office.
I
think
it's
important,
because
we
have
a
right
to
do
this
and
a
right
to
say
what
we
think
and
we
elect
people
to
represent
us,
and
so
it's
important
to
let
those
representatives
know
what
we
want
to
see
and
what
direction
we
want
our
country
to
go
in.
So
it's
really
important
to
get
out
here.
It's.
A
P
Think
it
could
be
a
really
good
opportunity
for
the
town.
I,
don't
agree
with
how
many
people
that
they're
letting
into
the
debate
but
either
way,
I
think
it's
a
pretty
exciting
thing
for
the
boulder
community,
whether
which
no
matter
which
I
political
party,
you
affiliate
yourself
with
whether
you're
on
the
side
that
you
really
support
it.
You're
you're
on
the
side
where
you
think
that
we
should
have
the
bowler
community
and
students
should
have
more
voice.
We
are.
O
I
A
R
A
R
A
R
We
have,
you
know
complete
nutter,
enthusiasm
and
really
a
lot
of
effort
to
make
this
a
good
event,
and
the
city
of
Boulder
supports
our
ability
to
conduct
a
proper
memorial
day
ceremony,
and
that
means
a
lot
to
us
to
a
lot
of
the
Marines
would
have
a
hard
time
talking
about
memorial
day,
because
it
is
it's
it's
a
very
emotional
day,
so
to
be
able
to
physically
go
out
and
do
something
along
with
this,
the
support
of
the
community.
It
really
means
a
lot
really
does.
A
The
city
has
teamed
up
with
the
county
and
local
woodworkers
to
combine
innovation
with
a
desire
to
reuse
wood
from
trees
that
have
to
be
removed
across
the
city,
including
those
infested
with
emerald
ash
borer
through
the
use
of
County
biomass
boilers.
The
city
will
use
most
of
the
wood
to
heat
public
facilities
this
winter.
You.
S
T
S

S
U
D
Got
a
lot
of
character
and
it's
funny
because
people
when
they
see
it
when
they
see
the
finished
product
like
in
a
dining
table
or
whatever
they
speak
for
themselves,
they're,
just
it's
like
you're,
just
you're,
just
opening
it
up
to
this
beautiful
work
of
natural
art,
I
mean
every
piece
is
different:
they
they
have
depth
and
a
beauty
that
it's
it.
It's
almost
speechless.
Like
the
some
of
the
patterns
you
get,
this
is
gorgeous,
so
you
look
at
it.
So
I
want
people
to
know,
there's
ikea
and
there's
American
Furniture
Warehouse.
D
A
A
E
Been
snowboarding
for
almost
my
entire
life
25
years
and
I've
been
competitive,
for
you
know
15
of
that,
and
so
it
definitely
has
been
a
long
road
and
it
was
a
slow
road
for
sure.
I
definitely
had
a
lot
of
moments
where
I
was
doubting
what
I
was
doing,
and
you
know
it's
a
lot
of
peaks
and
valleys,
and
so
winning
an
Olympic
medal.
Was
it's
been
one
of
those
things?
That's
been
impossible
for
me
to
put
into
words
because
it
took
me
so
long
to
get
there
alex.
A
E
You
see
somebody
that
stronger,
faster
you're
inspired
to
do
that
and
when
you
surround
yourself
with
people
that
are
strong
and
driven
and
competitive,
it
elevates
everybody's
game.
If
there's
just
one
guy,
that's
really
good
and
he
has
no
one
to
push
him
he's
not
going
to
see
a
lot
of
progression
and
so
I
think
now
that
it's
a
hotbed
people
come
here
and
the
bar
is
continually
raised.
E
E
E
Trail
running
hiking
I'm,
a
pretty
avid
cyclist
I'm
out
on
my
bike,
as
often
as
I
can,
but
they're
they're
hard
rides.
They're,
not
like
fun
group
rides
with
all
your
buddies,
like
I'm
out
with
an
intent
and
a
purpose
to
try
and
get
stronger,
but
I'm
outside
the
mountain.
So
again
it's
it's.
It's
pretty
awesome
depending.
E
The
amount
that
I
travel
being
a
little
bit
closer
to
airport
is
a
big
benefit,
but
the
end
of
the
day.
The
reason
that
I
live
in
Boulder
is
because
it's
a
healthy
and
active
community
I
can
go
from
downtown
to
being
part
of
the
mountains
in
a
matter
of
minutes,
and
there
aren't
a
lot
of
places
in
the
world
where
you
can
do.
A
You
can
keep
up
with
Alex
in
all
of
his
adventures
through
his
website
Alex
depot
calm
or
on
Facebook
Twitter
and
Instagram.
On
december,
six
you're
invited
to
bring
the
whole
family
to
e
town
for
an
armenian
music
concert
featuring
charles
catch
on
piano
and
matthew.
Subin
bassoon
inside
boulder
news
had
a
chance
to
catch
up
with
the
performers
at
a
recent
rehearsal
at
etown.
V
Both
of
us
have
long
been
playing
the
music
of
Rajiv
de
Hartman,
but
this
is
the
first
time
we're
going
to
present
a
concert
for
the
public
that
will
include
both
composers
call
me
toss
and
gorgeous
the
feeling
that
is
evoked
when
you
hear
this
music,
most
of
it
by
by
our
standards
today
of
western
music.
It
is
rather
simple
in
its
approach.
V
The
pieces
are
very
short,
but
this,
what's
in
common
between
the
two
composers,
is
a
extraordinary
sensitivity
to
the
relationship
of
the
different
intervals,
the
common
intervals,
which
are
the
building
block
for
for
music
of
all
ages.
And
it's
this
juxtaposition
from
a
musical
point
of
view
that
creates,
or
has
the
possibility
to
create
a
certain
feeling.

Updated
on
announcements
for
next
year's
tube
to
work
day
by
visiting
facebook.com,
slash
tube
to
work
day,
the
world's
largest
iron
man
took
place
in
Boulder
for
the
second
time
last
weekend,
competitor
swim,
2.4
miles
in
the
boulder
reservoir
biked
112
miles
through
boulder
county
and
ran
a
full
marathon
on
the
boulder
creek
path.
The
event
drew
thousands
of
athletes,
their
families
and
spectators
to
Boulder
and
in
order
to
be
ready
for
them
staff,
the
boulder
reservoir
began
planning
a
year
ago.
AA
We
supply
all
of
the
staffing
we
supply
all
of
the
boats,
the
small
watercraft,
the
volunteers.
We
work
very
closely
with
iron
man
with
their
water
course
director,
and
they
actually
set
the
course,
but
we
supply
all
the
staffing
and
water
safety.
That's
on
the
water,
for
the
day
of
our
staff
goes
through
extensive
training
in
the
beginning
of
our
season.
A
lot
of
our
training
is
very
specific
to
water
safety,
for
events
so
that
they
are
very
prepared,
especially
for
this
event,
in
the
number
of
people
that
are
in
the
water.
So.
AB
We're
just
looking
for
swimmers
that
are
struggling
that
have
cramps
anyone
who's,
just
getting
really
really
tired.
We
have
a
lot
of
kayaks
as
stand
up
paddle
boards
out
there
to
make
sure
that
if
people
need
to
stop
and
take
a
break,
they
can
and
we're
especially
paying
attention
to
those
people
that
stop
and
take
a
break
in
case
they
need
to
be
pulled,
I
mean
I,
actually
Iron
Man
of
my
favorite
event
of
the
entire
year.
AB
So
today
is
my
favorite
day
and
I
think
my
favorite
part
is
just
getting
to
be
out
on
the
water
and
the
beautiful
sunshine.
You
know
with
the
view
of
the
flatirons
and
seeing
all
these
incredible
athletes
from
all
over
the
world,
honestly
I
think
we
all
just
kind
of
love
it.
We
have
a
really
great
community
here,
we're
all
really
good
friends
and
it's
just
fun.
It's
so
exciting.
AB
To
get
to
see
everyone
finish
the
race
and
even
those
people
that
don't
it's
a
really
nice
feeling
to
be
able
to
help
them
and
know
that
you
were
there
to
keep
them
safe.
So,
just
knowing
that
you're
helping
keep
people
safe
and
the
fact
that
we
enjoy
it,
we
love
being
out
here
and
we're
doing
here.
So
registration.

At
the
boulder

visit,
boulder

rec
/
boulder
reservoir,
the
dairy
Center
for
the
Arts
broke
ground
this
week
on
a
4.3
million
dollar
renovation.
The
renovation
is
largely
possible
thanks
to
Boulder
voters
who
passed
ballot
measure
to
a
in
November
measure
to
a
uses,
a
point:
three
percent
sales
tax
to
raise
money
for
community
culture
and
safety
initiatives
across
the
city.
A
M
Often
forget
that
we've
already
completed
phase
one,
and
that
was
about
four
years
ago
and
we
built
the
Boedeker
theater
and
the
boedeker
art
cinema
has
been
a
huge
success
and
really
help
people
understand
what
the
dairy
could
be.
So
that
was
the
first
phase,
we're
now
moving
into
the
next
phase,
which
is
totally
renovating
the
front
and
the
lobby
and
the
art
galleries.
M
M
And
grace
gam
gave
the
dairy,
the
largest
gift
in
its
history
of
1
million
dollars,
half
of
that
to
be
used
to
help
our
construction.
So
half
of
that
will
be
is
the
helpless
renovate
and
totally
reconstruct
the
East
theater,
which
will
not
be
the
grace.
Cam
theater,
well,
happy,
116,
a

state
of
the

and
it
will
also
help
us
upgrade
the
what's
been
the
performance
space
that
will
now
be
the
Gordon
Jam
theater
and
that
will
be
a
state-of-the-art
place
for
music
and
dance
performances.
M
M
A
Dairy

is
currently
raising
just
over
a
million
dollars
more
for
the
last
stage
of
the
project,
which
is
scheduled
to
begin
next
August.
From
now
until
December,
the
public,
we
use
the
back
entrances
to
access
the
theaters
and
boedeker

The

will
be
closed
during
this
first

of

Everybody
from
the
community
was
invited
to
participate,
the
youngest
artist
is
three
years
old
and
from
then
on
and
we
have
professionals,
we
have
amateurs,
we
have
people
that
are
presenting
for
the
very
first
time
we
have
the
staff,
members
and
volunteers.
So
this
is
really
a
community
celebration,
because.
Q
C
Well,
it's
particularly
wonderful
at
this
show
an
exemplar
of
all
the
different
facets
of
community
and
of
types
of
artists.
One
example
that
suppose
to
my
heart
is
that
my
wife,
Claudia
Mesa,
has
a
piece
in
the
show
which
is
a
flat
two-dimensional
art
work
on
paper
and
framed
on
the
wall.
My
sister-in-law,
my
wife,
sister
Barrett
neysa,
has
the
huge
force.
That's
made
sculpturally
out
of
wood
and
branches,
and
things
found
no
doubt
some
of
it
on
open
space.
My
piece
is
fiber
done
by
nodding.
