A
Welcome

all
things
boulder,
I'm
jeff,

daniel
2017,
was
quite
the
year.
We
start
off
this
week
with
a
look
back
at
one
of
boulders,
most
notable
projects
of
the
year.
The
first
13
acre
phase
of
the
civic
area
was
completed
late
november
in
the
creek
side.
Play
area
right
next
to
the
library
has
been
open
since,
but
there
is
still
a
second
face
to
be
completed,
check
it
out.
A
Back
in
August,
this
was
the
scene
at
Boulder,
Civic
area.
Now,
with
the
first
phase
of
the
project,
wrapping
up
it's
a
much
prettier
picture,
while
most
of
the
fences
that
surrounded
the
West
area
of
Broadway
were
removed,
there
are
still
some
construction.
Fencing
that
remains
advil
will
soon
be
the
innovative
Creekside
nature
play
area.
The
city
anticipates
this
amenity
opening
up
by
the
first
week
of
December,
depending
on
weather
conditions.
In
the
meantime,
visitors
can
now
enjoy
the
new
11th
Street,
spine
bridge
and
wider
multi-use
paths.
A
The
park
also
incorporates
a
hundred
and
50
new
trees
and
the
use
of
recycled
trees
and
stones
for
area
seating
throughout
the
park.
As
phase
one
of
the
construction
comes
to
an
end,
the
next
step
will
focus
on
creating
an
area
plan
for
the
East
bookend,
a
process
that
will
take
place
over
the
next
18
months.
You
can
follow
the
progress
of
Boulder
Civic
area
by
visiting
Boulder
Colorado,
the
Gov
for
slash
civic
area,
those
who
like
to
go
to
the
scenic
area
of
Chautauqua.
Now
that
parking
could
be
a
bit
of
a
hassle.
A
The
city
launched
the
pilot
program
over
the
summer
called
Park
to
park,
offering
free
shuttle
buses
to
and
from
the
park
the
pilot
provided
nearly
23,000
free
shuttle
rides
and
decreased
parking
by
20
percent
on
neighborhood
streets,
but
this
couldn't
be
completed
without
the
hard
work
of
city
staff.
This.
B
A
A
plan
involving
the
city,
various
partners
and
members
of
the
community
that
explores
ways
to
create
a
better
visitor
experience
and
now,
through
August
27th
people
and
dogs,
can
write
on
this
temporary
shuttle
bus
service.
It
runs
every
15
minutes
on
weekends,
for
free
from
various
locations
around
town.
For
those
who
prefer
not
to
use
the
free
satellite
parking
paid
parking
at
two
dollars
and
fifty
cents.
An
hour
is
available
in
designated
areas
around
Chautauqua
for.
B
Folks,
who
would
rather
not
pay
for
parking
and
don't
want
to
try
to
look
for
a
parking
spot,
so
they
can
park
down
at
a
free
parking
location.
So
we
have
a
lot
done
at
the
bottom
of
baseline
and
new
Vista
High
School.
We
also
have
a
free
lot
over
on
sea
use
campus.
Additionally,
we
have
all
of
our
downtown
parking,
which
are
already
free
on
Saturdays
and
Sundays,
and
so
far
feedback
has
been
really
positive.
People
are
loving.
The
shuttle
and
people
seem
to
understand
why
there's
some
parking
management
going
on
up
here.

Whether
you
write
or
walk
through
the
underpass
or
happen
to
drive
over
it,
the
baseline
underpass
will
be
part
of
Boulder
for
many
years
to
come.
A
lot
has
happened
in
politics
this
year
in
September,
the
current
presidential
administration
terminated
the
taça
policy,
which
provided
deportation
immunity
to
its
recipients,
Boulder
being
a
strong
advocate
for
immigrant
rights,
passed
a
resolution
for
the
nearly
800,000
dreamers
that
are
in
the
program
for
five
years.
A
F
A
Now
has
six
months
to
figure
out
a
new
approach:
daca
recipients
will
have
until
March
to
renew
their
docket
designation
fellow
students
and
supporters.
All
over
the
country,
including
here
in
Boulder,
say
the
decision
threatens
their
basic
human
rights
and
creates
terrifying
uncertainty.
One
caucus
student
says
quote:
as
I
began
my
first
year
in
college.
I'm
scared
to
not
be
able
to
finish
my
career.
If
this
is
removed,
I
will
not
be
able
to
work
in
the
field.

Donald

the
United

alongside
Syria
and
Nicaragua
in
the

the
only
countries
that

this

agreement.
But
what
is
the
Paris
climate
agreement
and
what
makes
this
decision
so
controversial
so
we're
getting
out
the.

In
2016,
our
community
was
shaken
by
over
3,000
collisions,
resulting
in
59,
serious
injuries
and
seven
fatalities.
Among
those
seriously
injured
were
27,
cyclists,
12
pedestrians
and
20
motorists
in
the
fatal
crashes,
Boulder
lost
a
daughter,
a
father,
a
wife
and
a
grandma.
We
are
more
than
just
numbers.
We
are
individuals,
we
are
a
community.
We
need
to
look
out
for
one
another
and
make
our
streets
safer.
Inspired
by
the
belief
that
a
single
traffic
related
fatality
is
one
too
many.
K
The
city
of
Boulder
joined
the
ranks
of
leading
edge
cities
committed
to
safer
streets
and
adopted
toward
vision,
zero
vision,
zero
programs
across
the
United
States
operate
under
the
principle
that
traffic
deaths
and
severe
injuries
are
both
preventable
and
unacceptable
and
that
all
of
us
should
be
able
to
get
around
safely
on
our
streets.
There
are
many
factors
that
contribute
to
safe
mobility,
including
roadway
design,
speed
enforcement,
behaviors
technology
and
policies
with
toward
vision,
zero.
K
Our
city
is
committed
to
addressing
all
these
factors
in
order
to
achieve
the
bold
vision
of
zero
traffic,
related
fatalities
and
severe
injuries.
All
of
us
have
a
role
to
play
in
toward
vision.
Zero,
whether
we're
driving
biking
or
walking,
we
all
need
to
avoid
distractions,
be
mindful
stay,
sober
and
look
out
for
one
another.
Together,
we
can
make
our
streets
safer.

Welcome
back
the
city
launched
its
very
first.
What's
a
bolder
open
house
this
year,
members
of
the
community
had
the
opportunity
to
learn
about
the
city's
projects
and
services
the
city
has
to
offer.
If
you
didn't
attend,
here's
a
recap
of
what
you
missed
this
week,

among
others,
an
estimated
500
residents
visited
the
events
over
the
three
hours.
Stuff
is
still
compiling
exit
surveys
from
the
public,
but
feedback
at
the
event
was
largely
positive.
Don't
take
our
word
for
it.
Here's
what
the
community
had
to
say
this.

In

that,
Boulder

launched
many

recently,
the
