A
Welcome
to
inside
Builder
news
your
source
for
all
things:
Boulder
I'm,
Jocelyn,
Nava,
Daniel.
Now
your
zone
is
the
phrase
community
members
will
hear
more
often
thanks
to
the
recent
launch
of
the
web-based
emergency
mapping
tool
for
the
community
called
Zone
Haven.
This
program
will
help
First
Responders
more
effectively
plan
and
communicate
evacuations.
Take
a
look.
It's
called
Zone
Haven,
the
city
of
Boulder's
new,
web-based
emergency
mapping
tool.
Not
only
will
this
program
help
emergency
First,
Responders,
more
effectively
plan
and
communicate,
but
it
also
provides
the
community
direct
access
to
real-time
evacuation
and
emergency
information.
A
B
A
first
responder
shows
up
on
a
scene.
Let's
say
it's
a
fire
and
they
see
a
fire
somewhere
that
they
want
to
start
evacuating.
People
for
they'll
have
in
their
truck
or
engine
or
whatever
vehicle
they're
in
on
their
computer
can
go
to
Zone,
Haven
and
activate
certain
polygons.
Those
are
the
zones
also
known
as
polygons
on
that
map.
A
B
Do
want
people
to
just
go
to
the
website
and
get
familiar
with
it.
It's
a
lot
better
to
look
through
that
website
and
be
familiar
with
it
when
you're
not
stressed
during
an
emergency
and
there's
this
concept
of
know
your
zone
so
going
now
to
that
website
great
idea,
but
there's
no
need
to
sign
up.
We
do
so
want
people
to
sign
up
for
everbridge,
because
that's
going
to
be
the
best
way
for
people
to
get
notifications
for
specific
addresses,
even
if
they're,
not
in
the
area
zone,.
A
Haven
does
not
replace
the
need
for
everbridge
or
wireless
emergency
alerts.
Emergency
alerts
sent
out
to
the
community
via
everbridge
or
wireless
emergency
alerts,
will
include
a
direct
link
to
Zone
Haven,
providing
committee
members
with
quick
access
to
critical
emergency
information.
As
soon
as
updates
are
available,
more
information
on
Zone
Haven
is
available
on
the
city's
Newsroom
in
Fall
of
2020,
the
city
of
Boulders
transportation
and
mobility
department
began
the
implementation
of
its
Vision
zero
Innovation
program,
a
set
of
quick,
build
improvements
of
city
streets
to
enhance
pedestrian
and
bicyclist
safety
and
comfort.
A
The
city
has
now
finalized
an
evaluation
study
of
the
program
and
have
come
up
with
recommendations
on
which
projects
to
modify,
keep
or
remove.
We
spoke
to
civil
engineering
manager,
Devin
Jocelyn,
to
learn
more.
The
city
of
Boulder
is
finalizing
an
evaluation
study
for
the
vision,
zero
Innovation
program
projects
installed
across
the
city
in
2020
and
2021.
These
cost-efficient,
quick,
build
projects,
accelerated
progress
towards
creating
safer
streets.
C
The
evaluation
study
was
conducted
over
the
course
of
a
few
months
this
year
and
we
had
a
few
criteria
that
we
considered.
The
first
was
a
comparison
of
before
and
after
traffic
volume
and
speed
data.
The
second
Factor
considered
maintenance
aspects
how
easy
these
were
to
maintain
over
time,
and
the
third
component
was
the
community
feedback
that
we
received
about
the
projects
and
how
the
community
felt
they
were
or
were
not
working
for
them.
C
The
evaluation
study
found
overall
that
the
vision,
zero
Innovation
program
was
a
was
successful
and
many
of
the
sites
are
recommended
to
be
kept
out
on
the
roadway
in
their
current
configuration.
And
Then
There
are
a
handful
of
sites
as
well,
that
are
recommended
to
be
removed
and
those
are
primarily
on
Glenwood
Drive
to
the
east
of
28th
Street
and
Mohawk
Drive
between
Aurora
and
Baseline.
A
C
Community
can
provide
feedback
on
the
vision,
zero
Innovation
projects
and
the
proposed
recommendations.
By
going
to
the
city's
website,
there's
a
feedback
form
available
in
which
community
members
can
provide
their
feedback
to
us
and
that
will
all
be
considered
carefully
and
presented
to
the
transportation
Advisory
board.
At
the
upcoming
December
meeting,

We

Have
a
long
history
of
environmental
activism
here
in
the
city
of
Boulder

we've
been
working
on
climate
change
for
decades
and
in
fact
we
just
renewed
and
increased
the

tax.
So
we
think
there's
a
real
natural
relationship
between
this
conference
and
the
city's
values
and
the
work
we've
been
doing
for
a
long
