A
For
the
last
two
weeks,
the
city
of
boulder
has
made
a
concerted
effort
to
remove
dangerous
encampments.
The
city
announced
this
week
that
it
is
taking
a
multi-faceted
approach,
with
community
health
and
safety
being
the
top
priorities
the
city
developed
and
has
begun
implementing
an
approach
that
balances
compassion
with
enforcement
of
local
ordinances.
A
Removal
of
an
encampment
is
done
as
a
last
resort
and
at
the
end
of
a
supportive
process
when
occupants
are
resistant
to
services
and
refuse
to
vacate
since
february,
the
city
has
removed
over
100
encampments
with
more
removals
planned
soon.
A
team
of
police
officers,
human
services
staff
and
a
private
contractor
are
prepared
to
repeat
this
work.
As
new
camps
appear.
Community
members
can
support
the
city's
work
by
continuing
to
report
encampments
at

under
the
encampment's
topic
area.
The
public
is
also
encouraged
to
donate
to
local
non-profits,
providing
homeless
services.

Seen
on
screen
late
last
month,
the
city
of
boulder
and
xcel
energy
announced
that
they
had
reached
a
potential
settlement
on
boulder's
clean
energy
future.
During
the
august
20th
special
council
meeting
city
council
approved
a
settlement
package
with
xl
energy.
B
A
A
If
this
potential
agreement
is
approved,
the
city
and
exo
energy
would
enter
into
a
new
20-year
franchise
agreement,
something
they
haven't
done
since
2011..
However,
the
city
and
exile
have
agreed
to
unique
terms
that
would
give
the
city
additional
opportunities
to
end
the
franchise
agreement.
Early.

also
more

as
bears

We
might
be
more
prone
to

them
in

A
Attractants,
taking
the
necessary
precautions
to
secure
things
away
from
bears
is
not
only
important
for
you,
but
for
the
life
of
these
mammals
as
well
per
city
ordinance,
community
members
are
required
to
use,
bear
resistant
trash
in
compost,
bins.
Other
steps
you
can
take
to
discourage
bear
activity
in
town
include
picking
up
ripe
fruit
and
securing
livestock
with
an
electric
fence
or
within
enclosures.
