After

The
west
end
of
Pearl
Street
has
seen
a
number
of
improvements
recently,
including
irrigation
new
trees,
landscaping
benches
new
sidewalks.
In
certain
areas,
enhanced
intersections
and
now
a
little
bit
of
poetry
is
being
added
to
the
mix.
Six
wayfinding
totems
are
being
installed
that
showcase
the
work
of
local
poets.
The
installation
signifies
the
conclusion
of
the
West
Pearl
streetscape
project,
poetry,.
C
Is
really
important
to
Boulder?
We
have
this
legacy
going
all
the
way
back
to
this
being
the
center
of
the
beat
poets
and
to
chautauqua
century
before
that,
and
so
this
this
unbroken
line
of
great
poetry
and
poems
and
poets
in
Boulder
is
something
to
honor,
and
even
today,
at
the
University
of
Colorado
and
at
Naropa
and
at
the
Innisfree
bookstore
poetry
is
woven
into
the
culture
here,
and
so
it's
important
for
us
to
highlight
that
element
of
boulders
culture.
We
hear
so
much
about
the
natural
side
of
Boulder
and
artists.
C
Take
great
advantage
of
that.
But
Boulder
has
this
urban
fabric
and
these
wonderful
things
to
do
in
this
town
itself,
and
so
we
wanted
to
bring
that
out
in
one
of
the
residents
themselves
to
do
it.
So
what
we
did
is
we
put
out
a
call
for
poets,
both
youth
and
amateurs
and
professionals,
to
give
us
these
short
format
poems
and
to
tell
us
what
they
find
most
compelling
about
Boulder
and
got
some
great
results:
six
poems
that
will
be
featured
on
those
sand
stone
columns
in.
D
The
city
approached
us
and
said:
would
you
want
to
work
on
this
West
End
project?
We
we
were
thrilled,
because
I
think
you
know
we're
very
typical.
Many
of
us
have
lived
here
for
a
long
time
and
love
downtown
love
the
mall
and
love
the
opportunity
to
actually
sort
of
help
extend
the
energy,
the
beauty
of
that
downtown,
mall
westward,
and
so
this
was
just
a
natural
natural
project
for
us
to
kind
of
get
involved
in.
We.

The

a
significant
milestone.

you're,
invited
to
take
part
in
a
community
workshop
discussing
a
form-based
code
pilot
for
the

on
wednesday
july.
Twenty

the
pilot
is
an
effort
to
address
building
design,
quality
and
development
review
issues
recently
expressed
by
the
community
Boulder.
F
So
I
think
we
recognize
that
you
know
our
current
processes
haven't
given
us
buildings
that
everyone
is
happy
about,
and
this
particular
process
isn't
going
to
make
everyone
happy,
but
I
think
it
is
a
way
to
really
improve
upon
is
I
feel
like
a
lot
of
the
design
concerns.
I've
been
hearing,
I've
been
hearing
for
a
number
of
years
now.
This
is
an
opportunity
to
really
try
to
incorporate
those
concerns
and
try
to
address
those
concerns
in
this
process
to
hopefully
get
buildings
that
people
feel
are
more
appropriate
for
Boulder.

information
about
the

can
be

on

One
of
the
bridges
over
Boulder
Creek
in
the
downtown
Civic
area
is
sporting.
A
new
look
this
week.
The
temporary
makeover
is
an
attempt
to
engage,
educate
and
empower
the
community
to
be
prepared
and
aware
of
flood
dangers
in
Boulder.
The.
G
Real
driver
here
is
not
just
to
get
people's
attention,
but
to
say
hey:
what
can
we
do
to
help
and
in
what
ways
can
you
be
more
engaged
and
more
resilient
in
your
personal
and
your
personal,
day-to-day
preparedness?
So
what
we've
done
on
the
back
end?
Is
we
have
a
suite
of
things
that
we're
kind
of
rolling
out
along
with
this
outreach
program?
So
if
people
go
to
boulder
flood
Infonet,
we
have
some.
What
can
you
do
get
involved
kind
of
information
and
they
can
go
to
a
suite
of
these
five
things
we
have.
G
That
includes
a
free
USB
drive,
that's
preloaded
with
our
flood
community
guide
and
also
has
some
instructions
about
things
that
they
can
do,
including
keeping
insurance
information
or
important
health
information
on
that
USB.
So
they
can
have
it
to
water
resistant
USB.
They
can
keep
safe.
Another
thing
that
we
hear
a
lot
from
people
just
a
lot
of
concern
about
how
do
I
get
the
most
recent
information,
especially
as
wet
as
it's
been
and
weather
radio
seemed
to
be
the
best
way.
G
So
we
said
hey,
maybe
we
can
get
some
weather
radios
and
give
those
out
for
free,
so
people
can
sign
up
for
those
as
well
we're
offering
a
lot
of
these
programs
through
the
center
for
resource
conservation,
so
that
web
link
will
take
you
right
there
and
you
can
register
for
what
you
like
a
few
of
the
other
items
that
we're
offering
or
a
flood
floor
drain.
It's
like
a
check
valve
that
goes
into
a
drain.
It
won't
prevent
flooding
but
it'll
help
with
minor
sewer,
backups
and
basically
stops
the
water
from
going
up.
