A
Welcome
to
inside
boulder
news,
I'm
natalie,
wood,
council
and
city
staff
boarded
a
bus
on
tuesday
to
check
in
on
a
few
projects
around
town.
The
projects
are
all
part
of
the
capital
improvements
program.
A
six-year
plan
for
public
physical
improvements
in
boulder
passengers
on
the
bus
were
able
to
see
these
projects
first-hand,
while
staff
explained
project
details.

It
will
give
people
the
students
and
all
of
us
who
use
that
stop
a
place
to
stand
and
wait
for
the
buses
without
being
in
the
in
the
way
of
the
bicycles
and
plus
it.
We
have
the
beautiful
new
underpass.
So
it's
a
it's
a
great
project
and
it's
really
nice
to
see
it
come
to
fruition.
After
many
years
of
talking
about
it,.
A
This
is
the
first
year
of
the
cip
plan,
which
is
active
through
2017..
You
can
learn
more
about
the
capital
improvements
program
on
the
city's
website.
A
mosquito
pool
in
boulder
has
tested
positive
for
west
nile
virus.
This
comes
about
a
month
earlier
than
we
usually
see.
Mosquitoes
with
the
ability
to
transmit
the
disease
in
early
spring
and
hot
and
dry
summer
have
a
lot
to
do
with
the
early
arrival
of
this
type
of
mosquito,
but
the
climate
is
also
to
think
for
a
decrease
in
overall
mosquito
numbers.
This
year.
F
Normally,
we
see
a
big
peak
of
these
mosquitoes
that
don't
carry
disease,
that
what
we
call
flood
water
mosquitoes
early
in
the
year
and
those
haven't
peaked
like
they
normally
do,
but
on
the
other
hand,
we've
seen
the
kinds
of
mosquitoes
that
can
transmit
west
nile
virus.
Much
sooner,
you
know
about
a
month
earlier
than
we
normally
do
at
the
percentages
that
you'd
normally
see
later
in
the
year
like
in
august.
G
Parks
and
recreation,
we're
very
concerned
about
the
safety
and
the
health
of
our
patrons,
and
we
have
a
two-pronged
approach:
we
provide
education,
materials
at
our
facilities,
stasio
ball
fields,
pleasantview
fields
and
some
of
our
parks.
We
have
posters
up
that,
tell
people
what
they
can
do
to
protect
themselves
and
we
also
use
cultural
methods
to
control
mosquitoes
and
to
control
their
habitat.
We
don't
spray
insecticides,
but
the
cultural
methods
that
we
use
are
we
mow
tall
grasses
in
the
areas
of
our
parks
and
facilities.

A
The
company
usually
sponsors
the
ralphie's
independence
day
blast,
but
after
the
firework
show
was
canceled
because
of
high
fire
danger
right
kingdom
decided
to
continue
its
community
support
by
making
this
donation,
the
company
launched
a
colorado,
wildfire
relief,
facebook
campaign
contributing
50
for
every
like
or
share
of
their
wildfire
relief
photo
up
to
25
thousand
dollars.
The
facebook
campaign
launched
on
july
17
and
it
took
less
than
eight
hours
for
them
to
reach
their
goal.
It.
A
I
A
vehicle
to
deliver
a
water
protection
message
to
our
kids
and
our
families.
So,
for
example,
the
animals
talk
about
soap,
that's
coming
off
of
driveways
from
people
watching
their
cars,
so
one
of
the
messages
is:
please
watch
your
car
at
a
car
wash
so
that
you
can
prevent
soap
from
getting
into
our
creeks
we're
celebrating
boulder's
water
month
this
month
of
july.
It's
part
of
a
year-long
statewide
celebration,
the
year
of
water
2012
for
the
state
of
colorado,
and
today's
puppet
show
was
just
one
of
our
activities.
