A
A
Welcome
to
inside
Boulder
news
your
source
for
all
things:
Boulder
I'm,
Jocelyn,
Evan
Daniel,
on
Sunday
October,
2nd
police,
received
a
report
about
a
disturbance
with
guns
nearby
in
the
University
Hill
Neighborhood.
According
to
the
Boulder
Police
Department
at
least
three
different
types
of
firearms
were
involved.
No
committee
members
were
injured
in
the
altercation
on
Tuesday.
A
The
Boulder
Police
Department
asked
for
the
Public's
help
to
help
identify
a
second
person
of
interest
in
connection
to
the
shooting
police
announced
on
Thursday
that
they
have
made
a
second
arrest
detectives
arrested,
18
year
old,
Gabriel
Sharma
for
attempted
murder,
in
the
first
degree
extreme
indifference
and
faces
additional
charges.
Boulder
Police
have
also
arrested
and
charged
22
year
old,
saki
Lucas
for
attempted
murder
and
faces
additional
charges
as
well.
This
suspect
was
wounded
by
police
during
Sunday
morning's
gunfire
at
13th,
Street
and
Pennsylvania
Avenue
on
University
Hill.
A
He
and
Sharma
are
being
held
on
a
500
000
Bond
Boulder
police
chief
Mary's
Harold,
released
a
statement.
Saying
quote:
we
want
our
community
to
know
that
we
take
these
crimes
very
seriously
and
we
will
not
tolerate
anyone
who
comes
to
Boulder
to
harm
our
community
members.
We
will
be
increasing
patrols
and
conducting
other
initiatives
on
University,
Hill
overtly
and
covertly,
as
well
as
continuing
her
partnership
with
cupd
to
keep
everyone
safe.

A
22-09880,
more
information
may
be
found
on
the
city's
Newsroom
fall
may
have
just
arrived,
but
City
crews
are
already
preparing
for
winter.
Preparations
include
training
new
team
members.
Ensuring
equipment
is
in
good
working
order
and
helping
the
committee
prepare
for
snow
Channel,
8
producer,
Steve
shepler
has
the
story
so.
B
The
types
of
employees
that
we
have
in
for
snow
and
ice
are
all
of
our
maintenance
groups
in
Pub.
What
used
to
be
public
works,
so
it's
utilities,
maintenance,
Transportation,
maintenance,
Transportation
operations.
Then
we
go
into
our
training
program.
Drivers
will
go,
get
with
trainers
and
learn
all
of
the
in-cab
stuff
for
a
lot
of
them.
It's
a
refresher
for
new
folks.
It's
it's
new
material
for
them.
B
We
go
through
the
computer
system,
that's
in
the
cab
that
tracks
all
of
the
material
usage
and
actually
manages
material
output
while
they're
driving,
and
then
we
go
through
some
of
the
safety
items,
loading
unloading
trucks.
Many
of
our
trucks
are
slide
in
Sanders,
so
we
teach
each
operator
how
to
safely
load
and
unload
those
into
the
back
of
the
truck
and
then
also
how
to
hook
up
and
Dismount
a
plow
on
the
front
of
the
truck
and
then
for
our
newer
employees.
We
also
do
a
driving
course
piece
so
that
they
actually
learn.
B
Some
of
these
folks
have
never
been
in
a
plow
truck,
so
learning
just
how
big
the
truck
is
and
how
difficult
it
is
to
maneuver
it
around.
Some
of
those
obstacles
that
they
may
find
in
the
out
on
their
routes
to
prepare
a
driver
for
snow
removal.
Our
training
course
is-
is
really
fairly
short.
They
spend
about
five
hours
in
training
total
new
this
year.
B
What
we're
doing
is
actually
in
cab
training
during
live
snow
events,
so
that'll
be
a
veteran
driver
paired
with
a
lesser
experienced
driver,
there's
so
many
things
that
they
need
to
pay
attention
to,
while
they're
in
an
active
snowstorm
plowing,
all
the
material
applications
making
sure
that
they're
on
a
street
that's
on
their
route
and
then
where
to
put
the
snow
and
which
direction
to
push
the
snow
while
they're
going
along.
B
So
what
goes
into
preparation
for
the
city
of
Boulder
for
snow
is
months
of
planting
we've
been
we've
been
working
on
a
lot
of
this
stuff
and
getting
our
training
program
set
since
June
or
July,
and
then
we're
constantly
trying
to
update
and
and
do
better
than
we
did
the
previous
season.
We
are
in
the
process
of
a
large
snow
and
ice
program,
update
project
those
any
of
the
implications
from
that
will
be
implemented
in
the
23-24
season.
B
We
may
be
able
to
identify
some
small
things
that
we
can
do
this
season
to
change
things
up
a
little
bit,
but
the
major
changes
will
be
next
year.
Please
give
our
trucks
room
while
they're
out
there
plowing
snow,
it
they're
very
large
Vehicles.
They
are
paying
attention
to
a
lot
of
things
and
your
safety
and
our
safety
is
our
utmost
responsibility.

Comprehensive

Since
then,
Boulder
has
experienced
a

severe

The

of
this

will
consider

There's.

A
lot
of
Demands
for
flood
and
storm
in
the
city,
where
we're
the
number
one
flood
risk
in
this
state.
So
it
really
gave
us
a
chance
to
be
thoughtful
about
how
to
align
our
efforts
with
the
community
and
and
to
carry
that
through,
as
we

Seen
on
your
screen,
the
city
of
Boulder
recognizes
that
many
of
us
who
enjoy
local
lands
today
are
not
the
original
inhabitants.
Each
of
us
has
benefited
from
a
history
that
sadly,
has
included
oppression,
forced
location
and
violence.
As
part
of
an
effort
to
recognize
and
learn
from
this
history,
the
city
is
proud
to
participate
in
indigenous
people's
Day
Celebrations,
which
start
on
October
8th.
A
The
annual
celebration
aligns
with
the
national
effort
to
recognize
and
honor
the
culture
and
contributions
of
the
original
inhabitants
of
North
America
on
a
day
that,
for
the
past,
88
years
has
been
observed.
As
Columbus
Day
in
2016,
the
city
of
Boulder
became
the
14th
city
in
the
U.S
to
adopt
National
indigenous
people's
day
from
October
8th
through
the
12th
local
organizations,
along
with
the
city
of
Boulder,
will
come
together
to
share
knowledge
about
the
indigenous
Community.
This
celebration
will
be
over
a
four-day
span
with
events
all
over
the
city.
