A
Welcome
to
inside
Boulder
news,
I'm
Natalie
Wood
council
received
an
economic
update
on
Tuesday
regarding
the
city's
revenues
and
expenditures
for
2012
finance.
Director
Bob
vaikom
told
council
that
the
city
will
meet
its
projections
for
the
year,
which
were
fairly
conservative
due
to
continuing
economic
uncertainty.
Widow.
C
Council,
it
looks
like
we
will
make
our
projections.
They
have
been
fairly
conservative
because
there
still
was
a
lot
of
uncertainty,
the
economy
and
that's
exactly
what
we
saw
happen
in
2012
or
seen
is
very
slow,
uncertain
recovery.
Unemployment
is
still
high,
but
it's
improving
gradually.
So,
as
people
have
more
jobs
that
helps
businesses.
Loans
are
not
easy,
but
they
are
becoming
more
available,
but
overall
made
the
expenditures
and
looks
like
we'll
make
our
revenue
projections
for
2012
staff.
A
Says
boulders
long
range
fiscal
planning
continues
to
pay
off
many
Colorado
cities
similar
in
size
to
Boulder,
rely
more
heavily
on
their
sales
and
use
tax
for
revenue,
which
leads
to
a
bigger
drop
during
an
economic
downfall.
Council
will
make
decisions
on
any
2013
economic
ballot
issues
in
April,
with
warmer
weather
rolling
in
it's
a
perfect
time
to
check
out
new
artwork
along
the
Pearl
Street
Mall,
budding
artists
from
whittier
international
Casey
middle
school
and
Boulder
High
designed
layout
pole,
banners
showing
what
they
love
about
Boulder.
The.
D
E
Said
to
them,
what
do
you
love
about?
Boulder
and
I,
asked
them
to
have
no
cheesy
kinds
of
ideas
to
have
really
interesting,
unique
things
that
they
really
love
about
Boulder.
It
was
really
interesting
to
see
what
they
came
up
with
the
long
skinny
format
was
very
different
than
we
usually
work,
and
so
that
was
a
nice
bonus
and
then
thinking
about
it
being
large
appealing
to
lots
of
people
and
different
things
about
Boulder,
not
your
normal
kinds
of
flat
irons,.

Banners
will
be
on
display
through
mid-april.
You
can
also
check
out
a
photo
gallery
of
the
banners
on
downtown
boulders
website.
We
are
a
few
months
away
from
flood
season,
but
floods
can
happen
at
any
time
in
the
city
of
Boulder
is
at
the
greatest
risk
of
a
flash
flood
than
any
other
community
in
Colorado
commercial
buildings
located
in
boulders
floodplain
are
required
to
be
flood-proof
with
waterproof
walls
and
working
floodgates.
Here's
a
look
at
how
these
flood
gates
work
and
what
the
city
does
to
test
them
today.
G
We
were
testing
the
flood
shields
to
make
sure
that
they
are
going
to
function
during
a
flood
event
and
that
the
waters
won't
come
into
the
building.
They're
really
designed
for
keeping
the
flood
waters
out
so
is
to
protect
them
during
a
flood
event.
The
there's
a
couple
of
other
features
that
go
into
flood
proofing.
The
walls
of
the
building
themselves
are
designed
to
be
waterproof,
they're,
designed
structurally
to
resist
the
the
lows
associated
with
flooding
and
then
there's
also
some
alcoves.
So
there'll
be
some.
G
You
know
a
flood
shield
in
front
of
the
alcove,
but
if
people
are
sheltering
in
place
during
a
flood
event,
if
somebody
gets
injured
or
hurt,
there's
still
a
way
that
they
can
get
out
of
the
building.
So
they're
not
trapped
inside
I've,
witnessed
a
few
different.
What
tests
of
this
nature
and
that
aren't
always
successful?
So
it's
it
is
a
good
thing
to
come
out
here,
check
it
make
sure
it
is
going
to
function.
Flood.
A
Season
lasts
from
April
first,
two
sep
tember
30th
check
out
boulder
flood
Infonet
for
information
on
flood
safety
and
preparedness.
It's
a
new
year
and
many
people
are
kick
starting.
Their
new
year's
resolution
to
get
healthy,
a
free
community
program
is
available
to
help
residents
do
just
that
by
offering
personalized
coaching
on
healthy
living
and
cash
rewards
for
weight
improvements.
Here's
a
look
at
the
weigh-in
win
program
and
the
new
kiosk
conveniently
located
in
the
main
library,
Wayne.
H
Win
is
a
free
program
for
healthy
eating
and
active
living
participants
receive
daily
personalized
coaching
via
email
or
text
message
to
help
them
incorporate
healthy
eating
and
active
living
into
their
daily
lifestyle.
Then
participants
can
track
their
progress
and
stay
accountable
by
weighing
in
at
kiosks
that
are
located
in
public
locations
throughout
the
community,
such
as
here
at
Boulder,
main
library,
enrolling.
A
H
Kiosk
allows
them
to
weigh
themselves;
it
takes
a
photo
of
them,
so
they
can
see
have
a
visual
progress
report
of
how
they're
doing
over
time
and
then
based
off
of
their
weight,
improvement.
Progress
based
on
the
percentage
of
weight
improvement
they
receive
cash
rewards
Boulder,
does
such
a
great
job
at
encouraging
healthy
eating
and
active
living,
and
a
lot
of
other
initiatives
that
they
do
so
I
think
this
fits
right
in
with
some
of
the
other
work
going
on
in
the
community
way.
