A
A
Welcome
to
inside
Boulder
news,
I'm,
Ashley,
pearl,
open
space
and
mountain
parks
is
looking
for
its
new
class
of
volunteer
trail
guides.
The
department
typically
chooses
15
to
20
people,
to
hike
local
trails
and
educate
the
public
on
topics
ranging
from
leash
laws
to
wildflowers
and
cliff
nesting
raptors.
An
ideal
trail
guide
likes
to
work
outside,
enjoys
beautiful
views
and
has
a
passion
for
nature.
They
want
to
share
with
the
public.
Well.
B
I've
been
hiking
the
trails
in
Boulder
for
years
and
years
and
years,
and
when
I
heard
about
this
program,
I
thought
what
a
great
way
to
give
back
a
little,
because
it's
such
an
incredible
resource
that
we
have
here
and
we're
so
lucky
that
the
community
has
supported
open
space.
The
way
they
have
and
I
feel
like
it's
a
good
time
to
give
back,
and
that
made
it
so
easy
because
I
love
the
hiking.
I
just.
C
Love
having
the
opportunity
to
be
able
to
work
with
volunteers,
honestly,
it's
one
of
the
best
parts
of
what
I
do
seeing
their
passion.
I
think,
helps
remind
everyone
of
why
we're
here
and
what
we're
doing,
and
we
just
we
couldn't
do
half
of
what
we
do
without
volunteers,
they're,
absolutely
the
backbone
of
open
space.
Mountain
parks
trail.
A
Guides
are
asked
to
give
six
to
eight
hours
a
month
on
the
trails
in
return.
You'll
receive
ten
hours
of
training
from
OS
MP
staff.

training

begin
the
second

of

Seventy
five
thousand
dollars
is
up
for
grabs
to
repair,
Front,
Range
parks
and
trails
damaged
by
last
September's
flooding.
The
funding
is
available
in
grants
of
up
to
five
thousand
dollars
for
volunteer
based
projects
that
rebuild
the
places.
D
Is
really
important
to
colorado
and
very
important
to
this
area.
We
really
want
to
restore
that
infrastructure
that
provides
outdoor
recreation
and
fitness
opportunities
to
Colorado
residents.
It
draws
tourism
activity
and
dollars
to
all
the
Front
Range
communities
and
the
outdoor
industry
is
a
13
billion
dollar
industry.
You
know
it
provides
125,000
direct
jobs
just
in
Colorado
alone,
so
it's
not
just
about
getting
people
outside
and
recreation
in
this
beautiful
area
you
live
in,
but
it's
also
about
the
economy
as
well.

In
early
april
a
national
disaster
flood
recovery
group
is
coming
to
boulder
to
meet
with
flood
survivors
struggling
to
rebuild
starting
februari
10.
The
world
renew
volunteers
will
conduct
one-on-one
meetings
in
several
Boulder
locations
to
help
evaluate
what
assistance
survivors
need
and
help
prioritize
individual
needs.
The
long-term.
E
Flood
recovery
group
is
a
partnership
of
municipal
governments,
local
governments,
nonprofits
and
private
sector
businesses
who
want
to
help
and
community
volunteers
as
well.
The
focus
of
the
long-term
flood
recovery
group
is
really
to
help
those
who
really
are
need
who
are
most
vulnerable.
We
know.
Fortunately,
some
people
in
Boulder
have
been
able
to
recover
and
are
continuing
to
recover
on
their
own.
E
They
have
the
financial
resources
to
do
that,
but
we're
seeking
to
reach
out
to
those
who
do
not
have
those
types
of
resources,
and
we
really
would
encourage
individuals
in
that
situation
to
come
and
participate.
There's
really
three
purposes
to
these
sessions.
One
is
to
give
individuals
a
much
clearer
understanding
of
their
own
situation
and
what
it
might
take
for
them
to
get
to
full
recovery.
E
E
So
what's
the
picture
for
the
city
of
Boulder,
for
example,
I
was
surprised
to
learn
that
sixty-eight
percent
of
the
FEMA
claims
came
in
from
the
city
of
Boulder,
so
there's
very
much
a
need
here
in
our
city,
as
well
as
in
Jamestown
and
lions
and
throughout
Boulder
County,
and
so
this
process
will
help
the
group
get
a
better
picture
of
what
can
these
need.
So
we
can
help
both
individuals
and
help
collectively
sessions.

Seventeenth,
a
portion
of
the
goose

path
will
be
closed
next
week
between
thirtieth
Street
and
foothills
parkway.
Due
to
construction
on
the
junction

bridge,
the
section
will
be
closed
from
Tuesday
februari
11
through
Friday
februari
14th,
easily
accessible
detours
will
be
provided
for
all
pedestrians
and
cyclists,
who
use

east
and

We.
G
Have
a
lot
of
things
going
on
in
the
boulder
junction
area,
one
of
the
two
City
construction
projects
that
are
underway
right
now
is
the
junction
place
bridge
at
Goose
Creek.
So
this
bridge
will
connect
junction
place
in
the
voltage
junction
area
to
33rd
street
and
in
order
to
construct
the
bridge
project
which
is
going
to
take
about
a
year,
it's
going
to
require
some
closures
of
goose
creek
between
thirtieth
Street
and
the
railroad
to
do
bridge
related
construction
work.
A
The
13-month
bridge
construction,
Goose
Creek,
will
be
closed
an
estimated
45
days.
Some
of
the
closures
will
be
just
a
redirection
onto
the
temporary
paved
path
along
the
south
side
of
goose
creek
when
the
path
needs
to
be
fully
shut

F
Will
give
the
citizens
and
opportunity
to
kind
of
go
in
the
day
of
a
life?
We
will
be
running
the
classes,
every
Wednesday
evenings
from
six
to
nine
p.m.
starting
april
second,
and
going
through
May
21st.
We
also
have
to
Saturday
all
day
classes
at
our
training
center.
That's
really
the
hands
on
the
nuts
and
bolts
fun
stuff
that
we
like
to
say.
So.
F
The
citizens
will
be
able
to
put
on
bunker
gear
that
the
firefighters,
actually
we're
actually
put
on
a
mask
in
an
air
tank,
go
into
a
fake
smoked,
filled
tower
and
rescue
a
rescue.
Dummy
they'll
have
an
opportunity
to
go
up
into
our
aerial
ladder
on
the
platform
and
actually
be
able
to
use
what
we
call
the
jaws
of
life
or
the
public
calls
the
jaws
of
life
to
open
a
car
extricate
somebody
out
of
a
car.
So
will
we
will
be
wanting
to
do
as
much
hands-on
experience
as
possible?
F
We
also
have
specialty
teams
like
our
hazardous
materials
team.
Our
dive
rescue
team
so
they'll
be
exposed
to
actually
some
of
the
specialties
of
the
firefighters,
have
extra
expertise
and
training
on
to
help
help
deal
and
mitigate
the
risks
in
our
community
that
we
face,
along
with
teaching
the
public
on
what
we.
