Each
year,
32
students
from
across
the
u.s.
are
selected
to
be
a
Rhodes
Scholar,
a
prestigious
postgraduate
scholarship
for
students
to
study
at
the
University
of
Oxford.
In
England
this
year,
Colorado
native
Sharene
Singh
was
selected,
making
her
the
very
first
woman
from
CU
Boulder
to
be
chosen
for
this
award.
It's
been
a
little
over
20
years
since
a
student
from
seeing
Boulder
has
been
selected
to
be
erode
scholar.
The
award
went
to
serene
Singh
a
woman
with
big
dreams.
I
want.

To
one
day
be
a
Supreme
Court
justice,
that's
my
ultimate
long-term
goal,
but
there
are
so
many
other
goals
in
between
that
point
and
now
so
yeah
really
excited
about
all
of
it,
though,
serene.

The
Parks
and
Recreation
Department,
along
with
builders
first
responders,
are
coming
together
for
an
annual
toy
drive
and
you
can
help
the
youth
services
initiative
program
with
the
Parks
and
Rec
Department
and
builders.
Firefighters,
invite
the
community
to
donate
to
boulders,
youth
and
seniors
from
low-income
families
this
year.
The
program
hopes
to
provide
a
gift
to
20
seniors
in
the
community
and
as
its
11th
year
holding
the
drive,
all
donations
of
new
unwrapped
toys
and
other
youth
friendly
gifts
are
appreciated.
A
Donation
boxes
are
available
through
Tuesday
December
18th
at
various
locations
around
the
city
and
can
be
found
on
the
website.

community
members
received
a
sneak
peek
at
some
of
the
Arts
arriving
to
Boulder
Civic
area
and
got
a
little
sneak.
Peek
ourselves
check
it
out.
The
Office
of
Arts
and
Culture
held
an
artist
talk
featuring
Adam,
Q,
V
and
Michelle
sparks
two
artists
that
have
recently
been
awarded
public
art
commissions
for
the
Civic
area
in
Boulder.
A
Cuba
has
been
commissioned
for
the
Civic
area
project,
which
is
projected
to
be
installed.
Next
fall.
The
project
titled
55°
is
an
abstract
not
to
boulders
iconic
Flatirons,
but
also
an
artwork
that
is
inspired
by
in
hopes
to
be
inviting
and
interactive
to
the
parks.
Users
sparks,
on
the
other
hand,
will
be
in
charge
of
the
underpass
along
13th
and
Arapaho,
which
is
set
to
be
installed
this
spring.

project
is
inspired
by
the
natural
environment
that
is
occurring
on
either
side
of
the
underpass
and
hopes
to
invite
aspects
of
the
environment
into
this
man-made
structure
through
subtle
lighting
and
natural
reflections.
