A
Welcome
to
inside
Boulder
news,
I'm,
Natalie
Wood,
the
USA
Pro
Cycling
Challenge
will
keep
what
supporters
say
will
be
a
bold
and
unforgettable
finish
on
the
top
of
Flagstaff
Mountain
this
August.
This
is
the
upshot.
After
City
Council
passed
an
emergency
ordinance,
giving
the
city
manager
authority
to
issue
a
permit
for
the
race.
The
unanimous
council
decision
followed
a
lengthy
public
hearing
on
Tuesday
our.
C
City
stands
for
cycling,
it
stands
for
health
and
fitness,
it's
our
brand
and
it
speaks
to
the
world
really
18
months
ago
we
made
a
commitment
to
not
only
bring
the
USA
Pro
Cycling
Challenge
to
boulder,
but
to
have
it
be
the
most
amazing,
challenging
and
truly
epic
stage
of
the
race
and,
with
a
finish
on
flagstaff,
a
finish
where
we
propose
to
be
unflagging
staff,
we
in
the
rest
of
the
cycling
world
feel
we
will
achieve
that.
But.
A
D
45
years
we
have
protected
our
open
space
from
competitive
events
for
profit,
the
red
zinger,
the
curs
classic,
and
the
criterion
were
successful.
Community
races
on
city
streets,
they
weren't
about
profit
and
they
weren't
on
open
space.
Most
people
outside
of
Boulder
do
not
know
the
difference
between
realization
point
and
end
of
summit
road,
please
in
the
race
that
realization
point.
Please
do
not
put
a
for
sale
sign
on
open
space,
because
that
is
the
thrust
of
the
economic
benefit
argument
being
put
forth
and
please
drastically
limit.
The
number
of
people
going
up.
A
Attorney
Tom
Carr
told
council.
He
does
not
believe
the
race
is
in
violation
of
the
Charter.
This
is
largely
because
it
occurs
on
a
paved
road,
not
open
space
itself
and
the
permit
is
non-exclusive.
A
decision
about
a
permit
for
next
year's
race
will
be
made
by
City
Council
to
encourage
more
public
input
about
potential
impacts
on
open
space.
A
City
Council
also
received
a
staff
report
on
Tuesday,
covering
a
proposed
donation
of
a
bison
herd
by
CNN
founder
and
restaurant
owner
Ted
Turner
officials
with
open
space
and
mountain
parks,
told
council.
They
have
evaluated
several
possible
locations
for
the
herd,
including
costs
startup
and
first-year
costs
alone,
would
range
from
four
hundred
seventy
thousand
dollars
to
750
thousand
dollars,
and
there
are
some
concerns
about
impacts
on
agricultural
users
and
grasslands.
A
After
hearing
the
presentation,
council
voted
to
remove
North
and
South
lands
along
US
36
from
consideration,
but
council
also
ask
staff
to
continue
to
look
at
other
potential
parcels,
including
exploring
possible
options
with
Boulder.
County
Council
will
again
discuss
the
proposed
bison
donation
as
part
of
a
work
plan
update
on
Tuesday
June
twelfth.
A
At
a
study
session
last
week,
council
learned
that
boulders
water
resources
are
strong,
despite
following
one
of
the
driest
marches
on
record
staff,
updated
Council
on
the
water
levels
at
boulders
mountain
reservoirs,
which
have
6,000
acre
feet
more
in
storage
than
in
2002.
The
increase
is
attributed
to
record
snow
pack
from
last
winter
and
infrastructure
changes
that
have
doubled
capacity
at
the
boulder
reservoir
treatment
plant.
We.
E
Look
at
multi-year
weather
patterns
and
water
storage,
and
last
year
we
had
you
know
some
record
snowfall
and
the
mountains,
so
we
had
record
snowpack
levels,
so
our
storage
levels
are
really
are
really
good.
So,
coming
into
this
year,
it's
a
much
different
situation
than
we
were
in
2002,
where
the
reservoir
lovers
were
already
drawn
down,
we're
pretty
full.
So
as
we
go
into
this
year
and
certainly
looking
at
the
weather
patterns
as
they
might
develop
in
the
next
year.
You
know
we're
cautious,
but
it
looks
like
we're
in
a
good
situation.
E
Our
residents
have
done
such
a
good
job.
That's
part
of
the
reason
that
we're
in
a
good
situation
now
so
as
we
continue
to
conserve
it
just
puts
that
less
demand
on
our
storage
levels,
so
people
can
serve
water
and
use
less
water
on
their
lawns
or
use
less
water
indoor
we're
just
drawing
what
reservoirs
down
that
for
most
of
the
year
at
a
much
slower
rate.
So
the
more
we
do,
the
better
situation
we're
in
and
it's
just
a
it's
kind
of
a
pay-it-forward
kind
of
thing.
You.
A
Can
conserve
water
in
your
home
by
only
watering
your
lawn
before
10
a.m.
or
after
6pm
residents
are
also
encouraged
to
replace
old,
toilets
and
washers,
with
new
high-efficiency
fixtures
check
out
bolder
saves
water
net
for
information
on
rebates
available
to
help
replace
fixtures
and
more
on
water
conservation.
A
Boulder
to
Denver
commuters
might
be
writing
on
a
new
type
of
bus
after
the
US
36
fast
track's
project
is
complete.
The
highway
transformation
project
incorporates
18
miles
of
bus,
rapid
transit
from
I-25
to
table
mesa
and
boulder.
One
of
the
BRT
vehicles
made
its
way
to
several
denver
area
locations
this
week,
including
the
boulder
municipal
campus
I,
stopped
by
to
see
what
makes
this
bus,
unlike
any
other,
it's.
G
Of
our
TVs
vision
for
bus,
rapid
transit
in
the
US
36
corridor,
we've
been
working
with
the
communities
and
one
of
the
things
we've
heard
repeatedly
is
that
they
would
like
a
specialized
bus
for
the
corridor.
This
is
an
example
of
what
a
bus
could
look
like.
We
haven't
done
any
specifications
of
our
own
to
determine
we're
going
to
be
looking
for
additional
community
and
put
over
the
next
several
years.
The.
A
Community
was
able
to
hop
aboard
this
brt
demonstration
bus
when
it
made
a
stop
in
boulder
on
wednesday,
and
it
was
clear
this
60
passenger
ride
isn't
your
average
bus
unlike
conventional
buses.
This
articulated
bus
design
features
wider
doors,
greater
passenger
capacity
and
loads
of
convenient
amenities
for
riders.
The.
F
Interior
amenities,
you
could
outfit
these
buses
with
high
back
reclining
to
back
seats
for
passenger
comfort.
You
cannot
fit
these
buses
with
Wi-Fi
connection.
These
buses
are
equipped
with
other
technologies,
such
as
automatic.
Next
stop
announcement
systems
that
are
GPS
base.
So
you
know
the
driver
doesn't
have
to
worry
about
announcing
the
next
stop
himself.
It's
all
done.
I
autumn
matically,
based
on
where
the
bus
is
at
any
particular
time
and
and
then
you've
got
you've
got
surveillance
systems,
camera
systems
that
are
on
board
when.
G
The
managed
lanes
on
US
36
are
completed.
We
will
have
ticket
vending
machine,
so
it
will
be
just
like
a
light
rail
station.
Where
you
buy
your
ticket
in
advance.
You
can
therefore
get
on
or
off
any
one
of
the
doors
you
don't
have
to
wait.
Pay
the
driver,
everybody
kind
of
funneled
through
a
single
entrance.
This.
A
Particular
brt
demonstration
bus
is
on
its
way
to
its
final
destination
in
San
Antonio
Texas.
Our
TV
is
still
evaluating
whether
these
would
be
the
exact
buses
for
the
Denver
to
boulder
system,
but
officials
say
they
wanted
to
give
the
public
an
idea
of
what's
available.
As
the
new
class
of
bus,
rapid
transit
service
is
carried
out
in
our
region,
boulders
energy
future
team
is
inviting
members
of
the
public
to
an
open
house
on
wednesday
june
thirteenth
to
learn
more
and
provide
input
on
a
possible
climate
action
framework
that
would
start
next
year.
A
The
workshop
style
event
will
be
held
at
boulders
west
senior
center
from
6
to
8
p.m.
there
will
be
five
stations
hosted
by
city
staff,
to
provide
information
and
hear
your
feedback.
You
can
learn
more
about
the
meeting
and
all
aspects
of
boulders
energy
future
by
visiting
the
energy
future
website.
That's
all
the
time
we
have
for
this
week.
