A
Welcome
to
inside
Boulder
news,
I'm
Natalie
what
the
city
is
going
green
in
more
ways
than
one.
The
city
of
boulders
transportation
division
recently
installed
green
bike
lanes
at
two
intersections
along
Folsom
to
increase
awareness
and
safety
for
cyclists.
The
green
pavement
markings
are
part
of
a
pilot
project
to
test
the
effectiveness
in
reducing
right
hook,
collisions
the
colorful
lanes
were
installed
at
Folsom
and
Canyon
and
folsom
in
pearl,
two
of
the
most
common
collision
locations
identified
in
the
safe
streets,
folder
report
citywide.
C
Fourteen
percent
of
all
collisions
between
a
bicyclist
and
a
motor
vehicle
are
of
the
right
hook.
The
green
bike
lane
is
here
to
address
a
conflict
between
bicyclists
and
motor
vehicles,
approaching
in
the
same
direction
at
the
intersection.
The
bike
wants
to
go
straight
through
the
intersection
and
driver
wants
to
turn
right.
C
So
it's
trying
to
reduce
those
types
of
conflicts,
I'm,
really
the
biggest
thing
that
it
does
is
it
raises
awareness
of
the
presence
of
a
bicyclist
and
because
it
is
something
that
we're
only
putting
at
high
conflict
locations,
it's
something
that
is
new
to
a
driver.
They
should
be
pay
extra
special
attention
as
they
approached
the
intersection
here.
The.
D
Primary
form
of
evaluation,
of
course,
will
be
in
looking
at
whether
we
actually
reduce
accidents
at
these
locations
because
we're
installing
them
in
places
where,
where
accidents
have
occurred
in
the
past,
if
we
can
reduce
the
number
of
accidents
that
would
document
a
safety
benefit
in
the
city
of
Boulder,
perhaps
more
than
any
other
city
in
the
country.
There
is
just
so
much
of
all
of
the
different
modes
and,
while
that's
great
to
have
such
a
vibrant
multimodal
community,
it
also
creates
the
potential
for
more
conflicts.
D
A
Green
lanes
on
folsom
street
are
the
first
phase
of
the
pilot
project.
Additional
pavement
markings
are
planned
along
Colorado
and
table
mesa.
This
fall.
The
city
will
evaluate
the
effectiveness
of
the
markings
with
field
observations
and
an
online
community
survey
bears
are
storing
up
calories
for
winter
and
they
aren't
only
eating
food
from
nature.
Bear
activity
in
Boulder
is
on
the
rise
with
an
estimated
sixteen
individual
bears
that
have
made
their
way
into
town.
A
E
So
it
really
is
unsecured
trash
is
an
invitation
for
these
bears
to
come
into
town,
and
that's
part
of
what
we're
trying
to
correct
with
the
pilot
is
making
sure
folks
know
one.
Why
bears
are
coming
into
town,
why
it's
harmful
for
both
the
Bears
and
for
people
and
what
we
can
do
to
secure
trash
to
prevent
bears
from
coming
into
town
and
fee
thing
on
our
trash.
So
a
lot
of
folks
don't
realize
that
we
do
have
an
ordinance
that
states.

recently
approved
a

that
will

to

about
their

A

A
Summer
may
be
winding
down,
but
for
boulders,
four-legged
friends,
the
fun
is
just
beginning.
Dog
days
is
underway
at
scott
carpenter,
pool
and
dogs
are
taking
advantage
of
swim
and
play
in
the
pool
through
the
end
of
the
month,
the
pool
closed
for
public
swimming
on
September,
16th
and
reopened
for
dog
days,
dogs
swim
for
five
dollars
per
dog
or
thirty
five
dollars
for
unlimited
sessions.
It's
a
fall
event
that
dogs
and
their
owners
look
forward
to.
We.
F
Turn
the
swimming

over
to
the
dogs
after
a
long
summer
of
swimming
for
our
people,
patrons
community
loves
it
I
mean
you
know
when
it
was
started
eight
years
ago.
They
really
embraced
it.
It's
pretty
it's
somewhat
unique.
Not
every
community
does
it.
You
know
we
have
little
dogs,
we
have
huge
dogs,
they
all
seem
to
get
together
and
even
if
they
don't
swim,
it's
more
of
a
social
hour
for
the
dogs
they
run
around
and
that's
why
we
do
it
at
scott
Carpenter,
because
we
have
a
lot
of
decks.

It's
a
beautiful
time
of
year
in
Boulder,
and
this
weekend
the
community
is
invited
to
soak
in
the
season
at
fall,
fest
on
Pearl,
Street
Mall.
This.
G
Is
one
of
the
most
popular
events
that
we
produce
is
downtown
Boulder
incorporated
it's
an
oktoberfest
atmosphere,
but
it's
for
the
whole
family.
So
there's
a
children's
carnival
that
will
be
taking
place
all
along
the
1400
block.
We'll
have
live
music,
we
have
children's
entertainment,
we
have
over
30
artisans
that
will
be
displaying
their
work.
The
best
part
of
Fall
Fest
is
definitely
the
location
we're
on
the
gorgeous
pearl
street
mall,
its
35th
anniversary
of
the
mall.
The
weather
is
going
to
be
wonderful,
it's
fall.
It
starts
on
saturday.
