A
A
Acquisition
of
the
land
allows
preservation
of
unique
geologic
and
biologic
features
and
creates
an
important
wildlife
corridor
between
the
plains
and
the
mountain
backdrop.
The
agreement
calls
for
jefferson
county
to
contribute
5.1
million
dollars
with
the
city
and
boulder
county,
each
contributing
2
million
dollars.
This
parcel
is
intended
to
be
transferred
to
u.s
fish
and
wildlife
so
that
it
can
be
included
within
the
expanded
boundaries
of
the
refuge.
The
agreement
also
spells
out
provisions
that
would
allow
the
city
to
pursue
improvements
to
highway
93..
A
A
may
is
historic
preservation
month
and
at
the
may
3rd
city
council
meeting
mayor
susan
osborne
kicked
off
the
city's
involvement
in
the
month-long
national
celebration.
This
year's
theme
is
participate
in
preservation.
The
annual
heritage
preservation
awards
celebration
will
be
held
on
may
9th
at
the
chautauqua
community
house.
As
part
of
the
award
celebration,
the
boulder
county
heritage
preservation
roundtable
will
present
the
2011
square
nail
award
to
the
hartling
family
for
the
preservation
of
architect,
charles
hartling's
legacy.
A
Heartling
is
best
known
for
the
remarkable
collection
of
late
modernist
organic
architecture.
He
designed
in
and
around
boulder
county
special
preservation
projects
and
historic
properties
that
have
been
landmarked
during
the
past
year
will
also
be
acknowledged
for
a
complete
listing
of
boulder
county
historic
preservation.

A
Determining
a
path
for
boulder's
energy
future
has
been
a
top
priority
for
the
city
and
community
over
the
past
several
months
as
part
of
the
research,
the
city
has
tapped.
The
expertise
of
industry
specialists
from
around
the
nation
inside
boulder
news
recently
spoke
to
some
of
them
about
their
role
in
this
important
process.
B
That
being
said,
it's
also
the
opportunity
that
strategic
investments
in
renewables
can
dramatically
reduce
your
carbon
footprint.
We're
really
focused
on
helping
communities
change
their
power
supply,
not
just
take
it
over,
but
localize.
It
reduce
the
carbon,
facilitate
customer
ownership,
community
ownership
and
greening
carbon
reduction.
If
you
pull
that
off,
if
you
can
bundle
it
all
together
define
a
new
service
much
in
the
same
way
that
the
cell
phone
changed
telecommunication
or
that
cable
tv
changed
tv.
We
went
from
three
channels
to
300
and
that
kind
of
leap
is
really
what
I'm
looking
for.
A
A
Boulder
certainly
has
its
eye
on
a
greener
future
and
the
green
frontier
fest
on
may
1st
showcased
many
ways
the
community
can
achieve
that
goal.
At
the
annual
event,
families
learned
about
eco-friendly
products
and
activities
from
major
renewable
energy
technologies
to
everyday
products
and
services.
A
More
than
100
qualified
green
businesses
participated
and
just
down
the
street
others
gathered
to
enjoy
some
delicious
food
at
the
taste
of
pearl,
the
town's
most
well
recognized
and
award-winning
restaurant
prepared
samples
for
attendees
to
enjoy,
as
they
strolled
along
pearl
street
mall.
A
portion
of
the
event's
proceeds
will
benefit
the
emergency
family
assistance
association,
a
local
non-profit,
helping
people
in
broomfield
and
boulder
counties
meet
their
basic
needs.
If
you
missed
these
fun
events
be
sure
to
check
them
out
next
spring.
A
A
C
They
really
liked
going
and
seeing
the
different
cultures
that
were
represented
in
the
museum
and
they
liked
trying
different
foods.
So
I
think
they're
getting
an
awareness
of
other
cultures,
we're
going
to
casa
bonita
in
june
and
we're
going
to
the
chile
harvest
festival
in
lakewood
in
august,
and
it's
also
intergenerational
meaning
that
they
could
bring
their
children,
adult
children
and
their
grandkids
for
more.
