A
A
Welcome
to
inside
Boulder
news
I'm
Ashley
pril.
It
was
a
big
week
for
Boulder
City
Council
on
Tuesday
Matt
Alabama's
reelected
by
his
peers
to
serve
as
the
mayor
for
another
two
years.
In
this
position,
applebaum
will
continue
to
run
city
council
meetings
and
represent
the
city
on
a
number
of
important
regional
boards
and
at
many
public
events,
the
council
chose
George
karoke
into
a
one-year
revamped
position
as
mayor
pro-tem
and
welcomed
its
three
new
members
with
an
official
swearing-in
ceremony,
very
young
Sam,
Weaver
and
Andrew
shoemaker
are
excited
to
get
to
work.
I'm.
B
Really
excited
about
working
on
the
community-wide
eco
past.
That
was
something
that
I
campaigned
on
and
I
hope
to
follow
through
on
that.
I
am
also
excited
about
looking
at
some
of
our
housing
options,
specifically
the
ad
you
and
OAU
ordinance
and
making
some
changes
to
it,
so
that
it
allows
more
people
to
be
able
to
subscribe
to
that
housing
option
being
a
person
of
a
diverse
background
being
able
to
bridge
that
cultural
gap
and
hopefully
get
more
people
involved
in
our
city
government.
One.
C
Of
the
issues
that
I
would
love
to
work
on
is
really
cleaning
up
the
creek
path,
municipal
area,
making
it
more
welcoming
to
families
at
the
same
time
helping
people
at
voter,
understand
and
focus
on
our
homelessness
situation
and
helping
out
voters
homeless.
That
includes
not
just
you
know,
single
individuals,
but
we
have
lots
of
families
in
Boulder.
D
Part
of
all
the
work
I
was
doing
on
planning
board
I'm
real
concerned
with
affordable
housing
and
with
how
we
lay
our
city
out.
So
we
have
the
opportunity
I
think
to
develop
further.
The
idea
of
nodes
in
the
city,
like
we
have
a
great
downtown,
got
North
Boulder
going
pretty
well.
What
can
we
do
in
south,
boulder
and
east
boulder
and
then
housing?
Affordability
is
probably
the
other
thing.
A
Setting
for
the
new
council
and
the
upcoming
year
will
begin
soon
watch
for
the
state
of
the
city
earlier
this
year
in
early
December,
followed
by
a
council
retreat,
January,
12th
and
13th.
Imagine
the
hardships
of
sleeping
on
a
cold
lawn
with
just
a
piece
of
cardboard:
a
sleeping
bag
and
the
clothes
on
your
back.
That
scenario
became
a
reality
for
more
than
80
people
earlier
this
month,
as
they
participated
in
attention
homes,
annual
sleep
out.
The
event
was
part
of
runaway
and
homeless
youth
awareness
month,
which
is
taking
place
throughout
november
intern.
E
F
Youth
homelessness
is
an
ongoing
issue
here
in
Boulder,
with
an
average
of
213
kids
reported
homeless
on
any
given
night.
Solving
this
problem
has
been
a
focus
of
attention
homes
since
they
opened
a
homeless
youth
shelter.
Three
years
ago,
the
sleepout
in
November
is
one
of
the
events
they
organized
during
runaway
and
homeless
youth
awareness
month.
It.
G
Was
an
amazing
evening,
everybody
came
together.
We
had
an
amazing
session
where
people
just
got
a
chance
to
meet
each
other
here.
One
another
stories
shared
a
wonderful
meal
who
went
to
bed
at
about
eleven
o'clock
and
slept
out
throughout
the
night.
They
experienced
the
elements,
as
as
many
of
our
kids
do.
E
Neway
we
had
students
had
come
through
over
the
last.
You
know
10
years
that
I've
been
here,
but
it
didn't
actually
realize
how
many
students
of
ours
had
actually
gone
through
attention
homes
because
we're
not
sure
at
any
given
time
which
students
are
or
homeless
at
here
at
Fairview
or
any
other
school
in
America
I
mean
it's
just
it's
not
something.
Kids
talk
about
the.
F
Attention
homes,
shelter
opens
up
at
five
o'clock
every
evening
for
kids
up
to
20
years
old,
to
be
off
the
streets
and
spend
the
night.
They
also
have
the
option
to
stay
longer
and
young
adults
up
to
24
can
receive
intensive
case
management
services
designed
to
help
them
reengage,
educationally
vocationally,
and
find
housing.
We're.
H
On
the
streets
every
day,
I
connecting
with
kids
and
adults
on
the
street
and
making
building
relationships
a
young
person
walks
in
here-
and
they
say
you
know,
I'm
having
trouble
with
X,
Y
or
Z,
and
we've
been
doing
it
long
enough
and
having
enough
of
a
connection
with
the
service
providers
in
the
community,
where
we
can
help
them
connect
to
or
actually
provide
them
ourselves
with
that
service
that
they
need.
You.
G
Provide
a
program
where,
through
street
outreach,
our
day,
drop-in
center
and
overnight
emergency
shelter,
we're
working
to
let
the
community
know,
and
these
kids
know
in
particular
that
this
is
a
safe
place
for
them
to
come.
Our
intention,
wherever
possible,
is
to
help
reunify
the
kids
with
their
families
when
that's
not
possible,
our
goal
is
to
help
them
transition
to
long-term,
safe
shelter.
So.
A
Far,
various
events
have
raised
$80,000
to
benefit
homeless,
youth,
to
learn
more
about
runaway
and
homeless.
Youth
awareness
month
visit
attention,
homes
org.
You
can
also
find
ways
to
get
involved
by
volunteering,
donating
or
even
dining
out
of
participating,
restaurants
whose
proceeds
will
benefit
young
people
and
need
this
season.
You
could
help
make
biking
easier
and
more
comfortable
around
Boulder.
The
city
is
using
living
laboratories
to
explore
different
approaches
in
hopes
of
giving
cyclists
more
confidence
in
sharing
the
road
with
cars.
A
I
Psycho
track
is
a
protected
bike
lane,
and
that
means
that
it's
got
physical
separation
from
the
travel
lane
in
the
road.
The
baseline
cycle
track
is
in
the
road
and
how
we
physically
separate
that
bike
lane
from
the
adjacent
motor
vehicle
traveling
is
with
concrete
blocks
and
basically
flexible
poles,
which
would
prevent
a
driver
of
a
vehicle
from
encroaching
into
that
bike
lane
and
also
does
the
same
for
the
bicyclist
encroaching
into
the
adjacent
lane.

We
have
the

we

The

NASA
gives
us
the

then
we

This
is
the
biggest
one
that
University

has
ever
done.
We

in
the

planning
in
the

and
even
in
finding
out
what

at

it's
great
for
them
with
this
opportunity
and
it's
great
for

Once
there

will
conduct
a
year-long

Scientists

the
