Description
This week on Inside Boulder News: City will conduct curbside collection of downed tree limbs; demolition begins on the flood damaged Flatirons Golf Course event center; and City of Boulder and CU Police departments join forces to encourage crosswalk safety;
A
A
B
Going
to
make
sure
that
we're
out
of
the
University
Hill
area
prior
to
graduation
and
we'll
be
through
with
the
whole
community
before
Memorial
Day,
we
don't
know
the
exact
details
to
tell
folks
yet
as
to
how
to
prepare
the
materials
and
when
will
be
in
your
particular
neighborhood,
because
we're
just
releasing
a
request
for
bids.
Just
went
out
this
morning
actually
on
Thursday,
so
those
will
be
coming
back
on
april
eighth
and
then
we
will
choose
a
contractor
and
hopefully
get
the
collection
started
by
the
third
week
in
april.
B
Right
now,
though,
if
people
want
to
get
rid
of
their
storm
debris
their
tree
branches
sooner
than
we
do.
The
curbside
collection
there's
two
options:
one
is
the
yard
waste
drop-off
center.
That's
located
at
western
disposals
transfer
station
at
5880,
butte
mail
drive
and
we
have
waived
the
drop-off
fees
for
that.
So
it's
free
for
boulder
residents
to
drop
material
off
there.
You
just
have
to
bring
like
a
utility
bill
or
something
with
you
to
show
that
you're
a
boulder
resident
and
then
the
curbside
compost
collection
service
that
collects
compost
from
single-family
homes.
B
Every
other
week
will
still
collect
compostable
Xand,
that
includes
branches.
They
should
be
inside
your
compost,
cart
or
on
every
compost
collection
day.
You
can
also
put
up
to
three
bundles
six
feet
long
by
three
feet
in
diameter,
wrapped
up
in
like
a
twine.
Compostable
twine,
just
not
plastic,
so
that
the
trash
haulers
are
the
compostable
collection.
Folks
can
pick
that
stuff
up.

efforts,

Demolition
is
underway
at
the
flatirons
golf
course
event
center.
The
event
center
was
severely
damaged
in
the
2013
flood
and,
as
a
result,
it's
being
torn
down.
But
the
city
wants
you
to
know
that
the
greens
are
open.
So.
C
Much
progress
has
been
made
since
the
flood,
and
this
is
one
of
those
last
remaining
parts
and
recreation
projects
to
complete
is
to
demo
what
was
our
impacted.
Events
Center,
the
markets
changed
a
lot
for
event
centers
and
this
building
had
just
gone
beyond
repair,
so
it's
time
to
take
it
down,
but
you
can
still
have
a
lot
of
fun
at
the
golf
course
and
we're
looking
forward
to
that.
D
A
full-service
golf
course
we
offer
obviously
18
holes
of
golf.
We
have
a
fabulous
practice
facility,
driving
range,
cutting
green
short
game
and
chipping
area,
and
we
offer
lessons
club
repair
tournament
amenities.
The
impact
on
the
golf
course
is
going
to
be
very
small,
Q
parking
spaces
and
that's
about
it.
Our
day
to
day
activities
will
go
on
as
usual.
Tee
times
are
available
throughout
the
day
and
we're
coming
into
the
spring
season,
be
a
fantastic
time
to
come
out
and
play
more.

april
kicks
off
boulders
peak,
walking
and
cycling
season.
During
the
week
of
april,
eleventh
through
the
15th,
the
city
of
boulder
and
CU
police
departments
will
promote.
Crosswalk
safety
enforcement
will
be
increased
at
key
locations
for
motor
vehicle
collisions
involving
a
bicyclist
or
pedestrian.
While.
E
Collisions
involving
a
bicyclist
or
streean
represent
only
eight
percent
of
all
traffic
collisions
in
the
city
of
Boulder.
They
represent
approximately
sixty
percent
of
motor
vehicle
collisions
that
result
in
a
serious
injury
or
fatality.
So
that's
why
it
is
our
focus
to
increase
enforcement.
We've
also
been
working
hard
to
increase
education,
so
people
are
aware
of
what
the
crosswalk
related
ordinances
are.
The.
E
Can
ride
their
bike
through
a
crosswalk,
but
they
must
do
so
at
a
speed
of
eight
miles
an
hour
or
less
bicyclists
and
pedestrians
that
are
crossing
at
a
mid-block
crossing
like
our
flashing
crosswalk
here
need
to
make
sure
that
the
lights
are
flashing
when
they
enter
and
use
the
crosswalk.
If
it's
not
activated,
they
have
to
do
so.

Last
week,
the
city
submitted
five
grant
proposals
to
the
knight
Foundation's
news
challenge
on
libraries,
with
the
help
of
several
community
stakeholders.
The
challenge
is
designed
to
support
ways
to
extend
and
strengthen
the
role
of
libraries
as
essential
spaces
for
people
to
learn,
acquire
information
and
exchange
ideas.
Although
the
grant
proposals
have
been
submitted,
your
help
is
needed
to
refine
the
proposals
as
judges
consider
whether
they
will
move
forward
in
the
selection
process.
It's.
F
Important
to
us,
obviously
we
are
a
central
point
in
the
community
for
people
to
share
and
get
information
understand
information.
So
all
of
our
proposals
in
some
ways
are
ways
of
engaging
with
the
community,
either
through
deciphering,
difficult
to
understand
information
and
putting
it
out
there
or
making
it
easier
for
them
to
access.
F
You
know,
grant
applications
are
something
I,
probably
turn
in
a
grant
application
once
a
week,
and
it's
kind
of
the
way
in
which
you
know
we
think
so
we're
looking
at
ways
in
which
we
r
the
library
might
be
going
and
seeing
if
some
funder
is
willing
to
step
up
and
pitch
in
some
money
to
help
us
make
it
happen
and
the
beautiful
thing
about
grants
and
something
like
the
knight
news
challenge
is
like
it's
not
a
long-term
commitment.
It's
you
know
in
some
cases
it's
a
prototype.
F
We
just
need
to
develop
prototype
to
see
if
it's
feasible
and
then
one
of
the
conditions
of
the
knight
news
challenge
is
that
you
make
that
then
freely
available
to
anyone
and
everyone
who
may
want
to
get
it.
So
you
either
have
to
use
a
Creative
Commons
license
or
open
source
your
software,
you
know
we
open
it
up
to
the
rest
of
the
world
and
the
other
other
people
in
the
library
world
can
figure
out
a
way
they
may
be
able
to
do
it
for
themselves
and
that's
how
the
night
sees
their
money.

the

Changes
that
are

are
two

they're,
considering
an
extension
to
the

that
would
go
up
to

along
28th

and
then
they're
also
considering
a
Airport
route
from

and
potentially
a
route
that
would
travel
from
boulder
junction
to
table
mesa
station
and
providing
basically
a
local
connection
all
day
hourly
from
boulder
junction
to

In.
A
Addition
to
potential
extensions
RTD
is
also
considering
cutting
back
midday

on
route

and
potentially
discontinuing
the
service
on

south
of

In

RTD
will
also
be
