A
A
Welcome
to
inside
Boulder
news,
I'm
Ashley
Prell
after
a
flurry
of
highly
public
engagement
efforts,
the
boulder
valley,
comprehensive
plan,
update
process
has
entered
a
phase
that
may
seem
less
transparent,
but
as
every
bit
as
important
in
terms
of
producing
a
positive
outcome.
As
a
quick
reminder,
the
boulder
valley,
comprehensive
plan
is
a
vision
document
that
guides
everything
from
land
use,
to
policies,
transportation,
housing,
well-being,
agriculture
and
more.
It's
updated
every
five
years
and
the
fall
and
early
winter
included
many
opportunities
for
individuals
to
provide
input
about
what
the
city
and
county
should
focus
on.
B
Did
a
statistically
valid
survey,
it
was
also
available
online
over
1,500
people
provided
responses
to
the
survey.
We
also
hosted
six
listening
sessions
throughout
the
community
and
had
great
turnout,
really
really
good
information
that
people
talk
to
us
about
right
now,
we're
kind
of
wrapping
up
one
of
the
first
check-ins
with
all
of
the
for
decision-making
bodies
of
the
comprehensive
plan.
B
So
our
plan
is
adopted
by
our
City
Council,
our
City
Planning
Board,
the
county
commissioners
and
the
County
Planning
Commission,
so
because
it
is
a
jointly
adapted
plan
for
a
little
bit
further
out
than
just
the
city
limits.
It
takes
a
long
time
to
get
through
all
of
those
decision-makers
to
check
in
make
sure
we're
on
the
right
path,
but
we've
also
been
checking
in
with
them
on
the
initial
screening
for
public
requests
for
land
use
and
policy
changes
to
the
plan,
and
so
we're
really
entering
the
heavy
lifting
of
the
analysis.
B
A
Second
round
of
public
engagement
and
participation
will
begin
this
to
sign
up
for
weekly
planning
emails
or
find
more
information

on
March.
Second,
the
boulder
chamber
will
honor
six
business
and
community
leaders
who
have
helped
to
shape
Boulder
through
their
service
and
innovation.
The.
C
A
C
Is
somebody
who
established
herself
in
a
position
that
was
new
at
the
King
in
the
city
and
has
worked
tirelessly
with
business
leaders
to
make
sure
that
they
are
getting
the
support
they
need
from
the
city,
but
also
so
that
they
understand
what
the
city
needs
from
them
in
order
to
help
facilitate
their
success
and
to
help
them
grow
and
develop
in
our
community?
Well,.
D
I
was
so
excited
to
find
out.
I
was
receiving
this
award
because
it
really
makes
me
feel
great
about
the
work
that
I've
done
for
30
years
in
Boulder,
so
I've
been
a
planner
I've
worked
on
economic
vitality
programs
and
what
better
place
to
do?
Work
like
this,
so
residents
that
are
passionate
and
care
deeply
about
their
community
and
a
world-class
business
community,
so
a
place
where
innovation
and
collaboration
is
really
number
one.
D
E
E
I
knew
Franny
and
I
used
to
attend
chamber
meetings
when
the
chamber
building
was
right
across
from
the
city
offices
on
Canyon,
the
chamber
building
sat
in
a
big
big
lot
right
across
the
street
from
the
parking
lot
on
the
north
side
there,
and
so
it
used
to
walk
over
to
chamber
meetings
there.
That
Franny
was
leading.
So
it's
it's,
it's
very
exciting
to
be
receiving
award
like
that
and
and
being
in
knowing
that
I
that
I
knew
the
guy
and
and
what
he
did
for
our
community.
The.
A
2016
celebration
of
leadership
will
take
place
at
the
newly
renovated
dairy
Art
Center
from
5
30
29
p.m.
there
are
still
seats
available
and
to
register
visit
Boulder
chamber
calm
in
2013.
The
city
began
living
lab
pilot
projects
as
part
of
the
new
transportation
master
plan.
The
Living
Lab
pilot
projects
allow
the
city
to
test
innovative
street
designs
before
deciding
whether
to
adopt
them
permanently
so.
F
We've
rolled
out
the
Living
Lab
programs
in
two
phases:
phase
one
are
more
spot
specific
or
or
shorter
stretches
of
corridors,
and
we've
selected
those
locations
based
on
the
opportunity
of
testing
treatments,
recognizing
that
it's
a
pilot
and
that
it
might
be
refined
or
removed.
We
have
been
doing
an
evaluation
for
a
year
or
more
on
an
initial
set
of
pilot
projects
and
we
presented
that
information
of
the
evaluation
to
our
transportation,
Advisory
Board
and
a
city
council
with
some
suggestions
on
the
next
steps.
A
F
Moving
forward
with
refining
the
University
Avenue
protected
bike
lanes
we're
going
to
remove
that
treatment
and
replace
it
with
buffered
bike
lanes.
So
that
means
that
the
parking
will
go
back
adjacent
to
the
curb
and
then
on.
The
driver's
side
of
a
parked
car
would
be
the
bike
lane
there'd
be
a
buffer
between
the
bike
lane
and
the
travel
lane,
providing
more
safety
between
those
two
users
of
the
that
are
traveling
along
the
corridor.
Additional.

that
detail
the
next
steps
for
all
phase.

The
issues
of
homelessness
and
poverty
can
be
challenging
for
all
of
us,
and
even
more
so
for
children
who
are
still
learning
how
the
world
works
around
them.
Boulders
bridge
house,
a
nonprofit
that
provides
opportunities
for
the
homeless
and
working
poor
in
our
community,
recognizes
this
and
has
developed
a
unique
program
that
introduces
children
to
these
concepts
in
a
safe
and
understanding
way.
The
program
is
called
kids
give
back
so.
G
The
kids
give
back
program
was
created
because
I
have
two
kids
ages,
eight
and
ten,
and
so
my
co-workers
do
as
well,
and
we
kept
getting
questions
of
you
know.
How
do
we
introduce
our
children
to
this
issue?
And
so
a
lot
of
my
friends-
and
you
know-
people
I-
know
from
my
kids
school-
really
wanted
a
venue
to
do
that
and
kids
get
back,
provides
just
that.
It's
a
way
for
kids
to
get
involved.
A
H
The
backstory
of
anonymous
how
it
came
about
was
I
was
writing
anonymous
notes
to
people
in
the
community,
people
who
were
doing
great
things
in
the
community,
but
often
unseen
or
info
sort
of
thankless
roles,
or
maybe
they
were
a
higher
profile,
but
I
didn't
want
them
to
know.
It
was
me
from
me:
I
wanted
to
be
done
anonymously
because
there's
something
fun
and
mysterious
about
it,
but
as
well,
because
I
was
running
a
non-profit
at
the
time.
H
I
was
also
in
development
and
fundraising
and
I
didn't
want
anyone
to
think
that
I
was
fundraising
or
doing
anything
along
those
lines.
It
was
really
just
out
of
the
goodness
of
my
heart
to
say:
I
see
you
I
see
what
you're
doing
the
community
that
matters,
and
so
Kitty
really
grew
up
around
my
doing
that.
H
Every
now
and
then
I'd
sit
down
with
a
pile
of
notes
and
then
one
day
she
was
seven
years
old
at
the
time
she
said
she
wanted
to
write
one
as
well,
and
so
we
brainstormed
who
would
make
the
most
sense.
We
talked
about
teachers
in
the
librarian
settled
upon
the
school
janitor,
who
I
think
was
going
through
a
rough
patch
at
the
time
and
so
Kitty
wrote
a
note.
H
Just
you
know
thank
you
for
keeping
our
schools
clean
and
lovely
and
basically,
at
the
end
she
said:
how
do
you
spell
anonymous,
and
so
then
we
started
joking
around
like
anonymous
and
not
a
mouse,
and
it
was
like
anonymous,
and
it
was
just
like
something
that
she
latched
onto
as
a
child
and
would
draw
a
picture
of
a
mouse
with
a
little
mask
on
it
and
would
mail
it
off
with
no
return
address
and
that's
how
it
started
and
the
idea
with
bringing
in
an
autumn
house
is
just
to
have
the
kids
get
to
experience.
H
What
it
feels
like
to
do
something
really
kind
for
someone
anonymously,
but
the
idea
being
that
they
don't
do
it
just
one
sitting
here
they
actually
take
the
idea,
the
concept
home
with
them
and
do
any
number
of
things
for
not
just
the
homeless
but
just
being
in
their
community
and
helping
to
lift
their
own
world.
Well.
