A
Welcome
to
inside
Boulder
news,
I'm
Natalie
Wood,
the
Ralphie's
independence
day
blast
fireworks
display
lit
up
Boulder
on
a
dry
fourth
of
July.
The
dry
conditions
prompted
police
to
take
a
zero-tolerance
approach
because
of
fire
danger.
Police
received
92
reports
of
illegal
fireworks
over
the
holiday
weekend,
which
resulted
in
12
tickets
being
issued.
A
This
enforcement
approach
helped
keep
celebrations
safe,
while
Colorado
continues
to
experience
a
hot
and
dry
weather
pattern
visit
the
Colorado
office
of
emergency
management's
website
for
the
latest
information
on
fire
restrictions
in
Boulder
County
Council
is
meeting
next
week
to
discuss
proposed
sales
and
excise
taxes
on
recreational
marijuana.
The
conversation
will
center
on
the
appropriate
tax
amount
action.
The
state
has
taken
in
specific
questions.
Voters
might
see
on
the
ballot
this
November.
What
council.
B
Has
asked
us
to
present
our
two
different
texts:
one
is
an
excise
tax
and
one
is
a
sales
and
use
tax
sales
and
use
taxes.
What
you
pay
at
the
store
as
a
consumer
for
the
excise
tax,
that
is
a
tax
that's
earlier
in
the
process
than
the
final
sale.
The
raw
unprocessed
marihuana
product
would
be
taxed
at
the
time
that
it
leads
the
cultivation
facility.
The
maximum
amount
of
the
sales
tax
is
ten
percent,
although
council
intends
to
levy
less
than
that,
and
the
excise
tax
is
fifteen
percent.
A
You
too,
the
tax
measure
will
be
up
for
public
comment
in
August
before
council
formalizes.
What
will
be
on
the
ballot?
This
fall
city
planners
met
with
the
community
Thursday
night
to
go
over
final
design
concepts
for
the
draft
Civic
area
plan
residents
gave
feedback
and
talked
with
staff
about
the
future
of
Boulder
civic
heart.
We.
C
Are
kind
of
reaching
a
milestone?
We
are
exactly
a
year
from
the
day
we
kicked
off
on
July
11.
We
are
actually
getting
ready
to
propose
a
draft
plan
for
the
Civic
area,
so
today
we're
actually
having
the
final
public
meeting
for
this
process
for
this
phase
of
the
process
of
the
planning
work,
we're
going
to
share
ideas
that
have
been
generated
to
date
and
the
direction
that
the
plan
is
going,
what
is
contained
in
the
plan?
C
A
Have
a
unique
opportunity
to
experience
a
day
in
the
life
of
a
police
officer,
the
boulder
police
department
is
hosting
the
Citizens
Police
Academy
course
for
residents
who
want
to
learn
about
police
operations
and
philosophy.
The
12-week
course
covers
police
investigations,
SWAT
training,
911
dispatch,
crime,
scene
investigations
and
even
the
opportunity
to
ride
along
with
a
police
officer.
Registration
is
open
through
August,
twelfth
and
classes
begin
on
September.
