A
Welcome
to
inside
Boulder
news,
I'm,
Ashley
pearl
after
years
of
planning
and
construction,
local
leaders
celebrated
the
completion
of
the
US
36
express
lanes
project
this
week,
in
addition
to
the
two
free
general
purpose
lanes
the
project
built
in
express
lane
in
each
direction
to
accommodate
high
occupancy
vehicles,
bus,
rapid
transit
and
told
vehicles.
In
addition,
an
18
mile
bike
way
from
Westminster
to
Boulder
was
added
to
complete
the
multimodal
corridor.
Well,.
B
One
of
the
things
that
makes
this
so
important
is
that
a
project
like
this
takes
so
many
years
of
planning
and
effort
to
really
just
get
the
idea
finalized
get
the
money
together
and
then,
of
course,
there's
many
many
years
of
complicated
construction
so
to
have
that
all
of
that
work
to
be
substantially
complete
and
the
road
open
and
to
see
the
commuters
getting
the
benefits
that
were
envisioned
is
really
what
makes
this
so
exciting.
Today,
it's.
C
About
mobility,
I
mean
that's
what
we're
trying
to
accomplish
we're
trying
to
accomplish
mobility
for
people
and
choice.
The
combination
over
24
boulder
in
particular
and
I'll
just
really
speak
the
boulder
here
this
works
incredibly
well.
Is
it
a
perfect
system,
though
there
isn't
a
perfect
transit
system
at
the
moment.
Is
it
a
really
good
system
that
is
geared
to
the
needs
of
the
folks
who
live
and
work
in
Boulder
I?
Think
so?
Is
it
one
that's
going
to
be
sustainable
for
many
years
to
come
because
of
the
way
it
was
designed
and
built.
I.
C
Think
so
you
know
technology
will
change,
will
see
new
advances,
but
for
the
next
for
the
foreseeable
future,
the
next
10
or
20
years.
I
think
this
will
serve
us
on
our
citizens.
Incredibly.
Well,
it's
way
more
to
be
done
as
more
brt
roots,
there's
more
first
and
final
mile
work
to
be
done,
more
bike
paths
to
be
connected,
there's
a
lot
of
work
to
be
done,
but
this
is
the
backbone
and
that's
why
it's
really
exciting
that
this
is
open.
The.
A
Celebration
continues
this
weekend
with
the
US
36
bikeway
community
bike
ride
on
june
eighteenth,
the
ride
will
begin
in
Louisville
superior
at
the
a
vista
adventist
hospital
parking
lot
at
nine.
Thirty
AM
and
cyclists
will
ride
to
the
RTD
table
mesa
station
for
more
information
visit,
36
commuting
solutions,
org
the
city
of
Boulder
expanded
the
enforcement
of
the
bear
protection
ordinance
to
additional
neighborhoods.
This
week
the
bear
protection
ordinance
was
passed
in
2014
to
help
reduce
the
food
that
bears
can
find
in
Boulder
neighborhoods.
D
So
that
means
in
the
case
of
dumpsters
that
after
you
use
them
or
empty
or
put
your
trash
into
the
dumpster,
it
has
to
be
re
closed
and
latched
in
the
secure
position,
because
you
can
get
a
fine
for
leaving
them
open
or
unsecured,
and
the
same
goes
for
the
bear,
resistant
carts
or
poly
courts.
If
they're
not
pushed
shut
and
locked,
you
can
get
a
fine
or
if
they
were
broken
and
in
terms
of
the
trash
truck
dumping
them
and
the
metal
got
broken
and
they're
not
working.
D
You
have
to
get
them
fixed
or
a
place.
The
courts
have
to
be
working
and
functioning
in
order
to
avoid
those
fines.
The
fines
for
non-compliance
are
really
steep,
so
we're
moving
away
from
warnings
for
this
ordinance
and
the
first
time
is
a
two
hundred
and
fifty
dollar
fine,
and
that
goes
up
from
there
to
500
for
the
second
and
a
thousand
for
the
third.
So
it's
really
important
that
people
understand
how
they
can
comply
with
this
ordinance
to
secure
trash
from
bears.
D
This
ordinance
is
really
important
and
working
toward
protecting
bears
and
native
wildlife
in
our
community.
So
we
were
seeing
a
pattern
where
bears
were
coming
into
town
to
feed
on
trash,
because
there
was
a
lot
of
food
available
to
bears
and
they
could
get
more
calories
in
town
than
they
could
in
the
natural
areas.
So
the
pattern
we
saw
was
bears
coming
into
town
and
feeding
on
trash,
losing
their
natural
fear
of
people
becoming
habituated
staying
in
town
and
once
bears
are
hanging
out
in
town.
D
A
public
safety
concern
arises
where
that
interaction
with
people
and
bears
is
just
not
safe.
So
then
bears
are
being
killed.
So
we're
trying
to
reverse
that
pattern,
where
the
Bears
are
not
being
invited
into
town
at
all
with
food
sources.
So
we're
getting
rid
of
that
element
we're
getting
rid
of
the
food
that
draws
bears
into
town
again.
A
Warnings
will
not
be
given
fines
for
first
time.
Offenses
are
two
hundred
fifty
dollars
with
fines
of
five
hundred
and
a
thousand
dollars
for
second
and
third
time,

Just
in
time
for
summer,
the
city's
new
neighborhood
block
party
trailer
is
available
to
anyone
in
the
community.
It's
free
to
use
and
it's
packed
with
everything
you
need
for
a
successful
block
party.
E
E
It's
really
create
a
lot
of
conversation
in
the
organization
just
like
we
hope
it
does
out
in
the
community
is
minus
because
we
have
a
hill.
You
know
what
we
really
know
is
that
neighborhoods
that
are
connected
for
their
social
capital
or
where
people
have
social
connections
are
more
resilient
when
they
need
to
be
so.
If
things
don't
go,
well,
they
bounce
back
quicker
and
when
things
are
going
well,
they
have
a
lot
of
fun
together
and
we
have
a
higher
quality
of
life
in
our
Boulder
neighborhoods.
E
If
people
are
connected,
so
we
hope
that
this
is
a
tool
toward
getting
connected.
So
hopefully
it
makes
it
a
little
bit
easier
to
have
an
event.
Have
a
block
party
just
come
together
and
talk
to
each
other
and
you'll,
be
seeing
other
programs
and
tools
and
services
that
we're
rolling
out
through
Neighborhood
Services
also
to
encourage
the
same
thing.

This

the

an

We

this

both
by
produced
by
the
city
of
Boulder,
as
well
as

will
have

So.
H
It
really
is
part
of
the
fabric
here
in
Boulder
and
I
think
this
is
a
really
important
aspect
and
Boulder
joins
in
the
second
round
of
the
communities
like
Anchorage,
New,
Orleans,
Phoenix
and
Pittsburgh,
and
so
other
communities
around
the
nation
are
really
trying
to
step
up
and
do
what
they
do.
So
it's
a
real
honor
to
the
entire
community
to
all
residents
and
businesses
that
we
receive
this
designation
more.
