Description
City of Charleston Committee on Public Works and Utilities 11/8/2021
B
C
Going
to
ask
councilman
to
bring
a
few
words.
E
D
Contemplate
this
week
as
part
of
veterans
day,
I
mean
I
remember,
of
all
those
men
and
women
who
served
with
honor
and
courage
and
love
for
their
country,
protect
all
our
veterans.
Let's
show
our
reverence
to
them
on
thursday
by
honoring
the
way
appropriate
that
suits
their
service
to
their
country
watch
over
protect.
All
of
us.
We
ask
us,
in
god's
name,
amen.
C
F
Mr
chairman,
the
first
three
are
normal
subdivision.
Dedications
chip
mcqueen
is,
and
our
staff
have
been
working
to
make
sure
those
are
all
right,
they're,
pretty
standard.
The
fourth
one
is
a
permanent
utilities
and
chip
you
might
want
to
give
them
a
little
bit
further
explanation
on
that.
One.
A
And
I'm
not
sure
if
matt
fountain's
here
he
might
be
best
best
person
to
speak
to
the
fourth
one.
But
it's
part
of
the
huge
street
drainage
improvement
project
and
we're
acquiring
easements
and
rights
of
access
over
their
property
in
order
to
perform
some
of
the
work
and
and
that
one.
C
A
That
will
be
on
that
side
is
one
of
the
the
the
deep
tunnels
is,
is
matt
fountain
on,
or
is
he.
F
A
E
A
It'll,
have
the
pump
station
wet
well
and
access
pretty
much
what
we're,
what
we'll
be
installing
there?
Okay
and.
B
Oh
yeah,
yeah
yeah,
I'm
sorry!
I
was
looking
at
number
one
when's,
it
william
holmes
yeah.
Absolutely
we
we're
going
to
take
that
a
piece
of
the
property
right
across
from
the
side
of
sacred
heart
church
across
huge
street.
There's
no
buildings
there
now
and
the
housing
authority
is
kind
enough
to
allow
us
to
move
this
forward
so
with
without
paying
them
a
bunch
of
money.
So
this
this
is
really
really
a
a
good
deal
and
makes
this
project
possible.
B
C
C
Good
thing
to
have,
I
agree:
let's
entertain
the
motion,
so
approval
exactly
one
through
four
or
is
that
e
one?
Your
motion,
d1?
Okay,
just
don't
probably
move
the
second
on
e1
all
in
favor.
That
motion,
please
say:
hi
hi,
hi
indian
pulls
eyes
here:
hello,
councilman
griffin,
thanks
for
joining
in
we're
on
e2.
F
A
stone
subdivision,
that's
a
subdivision,
that's
on
located
on
john's
island
and
that
is
61
lots
and
we're
offering
those
streets
enlisted
there
on
your
street
for
dedication.
F
C
F
Mr
chairman,
this
is
wando
village
phase,
one
located
off
of
plymouth
ferry
road.
This
is
also
61
lots
and
everything's
either
been
constructed
or
bonded,
and
we're
offering
those
streets
listed
there
for
dedication
into
the
city.
Roadways
properly.
D
C
F
C
Now,
down
to
item
each
well
public
service
update,
I
don't
see
anything
there
aged
stormwater
get
back
to
kenyan
eugene
again
the
application
for
a
grant.
Anybody
going
to
address
that.
I
know
it's
the
fountains
not
on.
E
Oh,
mr
chairman,
I'm
I'm
here
to
listen
for
mr
fountain.
C
E
Good,
mr
chairman,
mr
mayor
council
members,
we
are
requesting
approval
to
submit
an
application
for
a
fema
brick
grant
for
the
design
in
construction
of
the
pump
station
at
king
huji
street.
The
total
grant
request
is
for
about
9.4
or
excuse
me
9.5
million
dollars.
There
is
a
70
30
cost
split
between
between
the
federal
government
and
the
city
and
we've
already
put
in
about
755
399.
E
There
is
a
typo
in
the
in
the
agenda
here,
but
we
can
use
some
of
that
money
that
we've
already
spent
as
leverage
and
that
will
will
go
into
our
30
30
70
split.
So
again.
This
is
just
for
approval.
C
E
Yeah,
that's
that's
a
good
question,
so
our
grant
application
is
due
on
the
19th
of
november.
So
it's
due
next
week
there
will
be
a
period
of
of
review
and
then
we
will
submit
a
final
application
to
theme
on
january
31st
and
we
should
be
notified
by
summer
of
2022
whether
or
not
we
received
a
grant.
G
Councilman
griffin,
yes,
sir,
I
just
wanted
to
reiterate
for
the
record
mr
kirk,
that
we're
not
we're
not
appropriating
any
additional
money
at
this
point.
This
is
money,
that's
already
part
of
this
project
and
money
that
has
already
been
allocated
previously
that
we
have
in
the
current
budget.
That
would
help
lessen
kind
of
the
blow
that
the
city
would
have
to
do
in
order
to
get
this
project
done.
E
Yeah,
that
that
is
correct,
we're
not
looking
for
any
additional
money,
we're
just
looking
for
federal.
B
B
I
must
say,
mr
chairman
and
other
committee
members,
and-
and
I
presume
this
is
the
reason
why
the
drainage
at
this
intersection
was
was
to
address.
It
was
put
off
for
so
long
a
few
years
ago,
when
we
talked
about
moving
forward
with
with
fixing
king
and
hughie,
how
many
thought
it
would
be
a
10
million
nine
and
a
half
million
dollar
job.
C
We're
just
talking
about
that
before
I
thought:
5
million
was
plenty
yeah
yeah.
We
were
talking
about
gravity
flow.
You
know,
underneath
to
what's
that
creek
yeah
it
was
I've
been
getting
there
that
creek,
where
chance
that
he
was.
You
know
tearing
the
pipes
that
way,
and
now
we
talk
about
the
pump
pump
stations.
G
Mr
mayor
correct
me
if
I'm
wrong,
but
I
mean
at
this
point
we've
already,
you
know
kind
of
decided
as
a
city
that
we're
going
to
move
forward
with
this
project,
so
getting
the
federal
grant.
It
just
takes
a
little
bit
out
of
what
we
would
have
to
pay
as
a
city.
This
to
me
is
a
win-win
situation.
If
we're
able
to
get
this
grant.
B
B
Yeah
and
that's
why
I
asked
that
question
because
I
think,
even
while
we're
waiting
for
this
grant
to
be
considered
that
that
we
are
able
to
proceed
with
the
design
of
the
pump
station,
I
know
I've
already
seen
a
mock-up
for
design
review
committee
showing
how
it
would
lay
out
and
we're
we're
really
been
working
on
this
we're
not
waiting
around
for
the
grant.
G
C
All
right,
let's
carry
the
motion
all
in
favor,
please
say:
hi
hi
any
influence,
good
work,
mr
church
matter
of
fact,
behind
you
that
almost
looks
like
panama
canal
man,.
E
C
G
C
All
right
any
any
more
information
to
come
before
public
voice
committee,
great
meeting,
all
right,
all
right.
