Description
City of Charleston Health and Wellness Advisory Committee Meeting 1/4/2023
B
Good
morning
everybody
happy
New,
Year,
I,
hope
everyone
had
a
great
holiday
season
and
and
a
great
New
Year,
it's
I
will
call
to
order
our
meeting
for
Wednesday
January
4th
2023
so
welcome
to
2023,
and
thank
you
for
being
here
on
our
on
our
meeting
and
allowing
us
to
get
back
to
work
and
get
some
things
done
for
this
year
and
I
want
to
start
off
by
asking
for
an
approval
of
minutes
from
December
7th
2022.
Please,
foreign.
B
Okay,
the
minutes
have
been
approved.
Thank
you
very
much.
Next
on
our
agenda,
is
our
community
updates
and
I
know.
Paul
wants
to
talk
to
us
about
an
event.
We've
got
going.
A
Thank
you,
Kevin
I
am
I'm
looking
for
the
invite,
but
just
want
to
remind
everybody.
We
have
the
kids
run
coming
up
this
weekend
at
the
it's
going
to
be
at
Stoney
field
and
I
might
ask
Laurie
if
she's
still
on
at
large.
You
just
want
to
say
anything
about
details
or
anything
we
need
for.
For
that
event,.
D
Hey
Paul
thanks
I,
don't
have
any
updates.
Everything
is
still
scheduled,
they'll
be
in
setting
up
for
the
event
on
Sunday
morning,
we're
looking
to
have
hopefully
great
weather
and
a
good
crowd
and
everyone's
real
anxious
to
get
this
event
back
on
the
calendar
and
and
happening.
We
haven't
had
it
in
a
couple
years,
so
everything's
still
looking
very
good
for
that.
B
Great
and
Lori
that's
at
Stoney
field
is
that
correct.
D
B
A
Two
o'clock:
yes,
two
to
six
Stoney
field
there'll
be
parking
across
the
street
at
the
Fishburn
parking
lot,
where
MUSC,
usually
parks
right
across
from
the
end
zones
and
in
the
parking
lot
we'll
have
like
I.
Don't
know
whether
it's
any
food
we'll
have
some
little
food
trucks
and
some
other
activities
and
then
the
event
will
all
be
on
the
track
at
Stonyfield.
E
Great
Paul
and
Laurie
I
know
I've
got
a
couple
of
volunteers
from
Children's
Hospital
that
would
like
to
help
out.
We
are
unable
to
table,
but
we
still
want
to
be
involved.
Is
there
some
place
that
they
should
report
to
or
someone
they
should
contact
or.
D
Erbaton
will
be
in
charge
of
that
and
he
will
be
over
that
morning
on
Sunday,
getting
everything
set
up
with
with
with
the
areas
and
the
different
kid
zones
and
stuff
so
he'd
be
the
best
contact.
Okay,
thank.
E
B
Do
they
need
to
be
pre-registered?
Can
they
register
at
the
time
or
they
need
to
pre-register
before
they
come.
A
They
they
can
register
at
the
site.
It's
a
free
event
for
children,
so
all
are
welcome
and
it's
I
believe
we've
got
over
900
kids
already
pre-registered,
so
we're
right
near
that
amount.
So
it
should
be
a
pretty
large
crowd
out
there
for
Sunday
very.
B
Good,
well,
it's
exciting
to
have
it
going
again
and
exciting
to
be
able
to
use
the
new
Stony
field.
Facilities
too
I'm
excited
to
see
how
all
that
works
out.
So
thank
you
for
what
you
do
with
that
all
right
Maggie.
We
have
a
lot
of
children
back
in
school
and
today,
going
back
I
didn't
know
if
you
have
any
updates
from
Charleston
County.
F
Don't
worry
thanks
so
much.
We
are
excited
to
welcome
back
all
of
our
students
today,
after
winter
break
yesterday
was
a
teacher
work
day
in
central
office
staff
returned.
So
today
is
the
first
day
back
for
our
students
and
then
the
next
upcoming
break
for
students
will
be
the
Martin
Luther
King
Jr
holiday,
as
well
as
the
day
after,
which
is
a
teacher
work
day.
I
believe
that
is
the
17th,
but
we
are
excited
to
have
everyone
back
and
in
full
swing
as
we
wrap
up
the
quarter.
F
A
couple
things
health
related
through
a
great
with
DHEC.
We
will
continue
to
provide
free,
covid-19
and
flu
A
and
B
testing
for
all
students
and
staff
who
wish
to
be
tested
in
January
on
our
website
is
a
list
that
includes
times
and
locations
of
the
testing
sites.
Specifically
today
we
have
sites
that
begin
in
some
places
at
10
A.M
and
go
through
7
p.m
and
others
at
noon
through
6
p.m.
B
C
Jennifer
go
ahead.
Thank
you.
Sorry,
I'm
driving
to
Columbia,
so
I'm
just
going
to
leave
my
camera
off,
but
I'm
with
mental
health.
For
those
of
you
who
can't
see
me
we're
trying
to
get
our
crisis
stabilization
unit
back
open
at
the
social
services
Hub,
we
we're
re-licensing
it
as
our
we're
changing
the
license
to
a
actual
crisis
stabilization.
So
we
had
to
make
some
changes
and
do.
C
We
moved
in
so
hopefully,
hopefully
I'll
we'll
be
sending
out
probably
a
press
release
when
we
get
it
back
open,
but
it's
very
exciting
a
beautiful
space.
So
hopefully
that
will
be
back
on
board
soon
and
I
just
wanted
to
give
a
988
update.
As
you
all
know,
I've
mentioned
that
we're
going
to
be
the
back
up.
988
call
Center
for
the
suicide
lifeline
and
we
are.
We
found
a
building
and
we're
in
the
process
of
getting
into
a
building,
that's
across
the
street,
from
our
Center
in
West
Ashley.
C
D
C
C
Last
time
we
were
able
to
raise
our
salaries
some,
so
it
is,
it's
a
better
place
to
be,
and
so
we
are
hoping
for
we're
getting
a
lot
of
our
staff
back,
especially
School
mental
health,
we're
still
down,
but
I'm,
really
looking
forward
to
a
great
2023
for
us
and
I'll
keep
you
posted.
B
G
Good
morning
everyone
and
happy
New
Year
I,
have
we
just
moved
in
and
so
I
don't
have.
My
camera
set
up
yet,
but
we
are
excited
to
be
here
as
Jennifer
said,
we're
in
the
new
Social
Services
Hub
on
Rivers
Avenue
cross
street
McMillan
right
across
from
the
Old
Navy
hospital,
and
we
are
co-located
with
DSS
deodus
and
Department
of
Mental
Health
crisis
stabilization
unit
and
we
are
up.
G
Wic
Services
preventive
Health,
tuberculosis,
diagnosis
and
treatment,
all
of
our
management
offices,
our
Maternal
Child,
Health
programs-
we're
excited
to
all
be
together
for
the
first
time
in
a
long
time,
so
feel
free
to
come
by
I'd
love
to
show
you
round,
and
if
there
are
any
questions.
Let
me
know.
G
I'm
pretty
sure
that
they're
8
30
to
5.
I,
don't
think
that
those
changed
from
what
they
have
been
before
those
are
dhec's
operating
hours.
There
are
security
at
the
front
door
at
I.
Think
a
wider
range
of
ours,
but
I
don't
think
I
mean
there
is
the
the
inpatient
treatment
center
for
day
Otis.
That
is
a
separate
door
and
I
assume
that
that
obviously
has
has
wider
hours,
but
I
think
everyone
else
is
8
30
to
5
Monday
through
Friday.
B
All
right
well,
thank
you.
Anyone
else
on
Community
updates
anything
else
to
report
all
right.
Well,
thank
you
very
much
for
that,
and
now
we're
going
to
get
a
brief
overview
on
help
on
our
health
and
wellness
advisory
committee
in
22
2022
actions,
so
I'm
going
to
call
on
Paul.
If
you
would
please.
A
Thanks
Kevin
I
I,
really
just
wanted
I
pulled
together
a
little
slide
presentation
over
the
work
that
we've
done
over
the
the
past,
not
work
as
much
as
the
well.
It
is
work
because,
but
a
lot
of
what
we
do
at
this
health
and
wellness
advisory
committee
and
does
the
city
on
in
our
in
the
charter
for
this
committee
or
had
gave
several
things
that
we
were
to
do.
A
One
of
them
was
make
recommendations
and
advise
city,
council
and
staff
on
all
Community,
Health
and
Wellness
issues,
and
just
taking
some
of
the
titles
from
our
events.
Last
are
our
meetings
in
in
2022
I
just
tried
to
put
together
all
the
different
things
under
under
the
advisory
Council.
That's
that
is
going
on.
We
we
got
into
looking
at
the
presentation
by
the
City
Health
dashboard
that
looked
at
data
on
the
health
and
its
drivers
understand
and
take
action
and
I
believe
I
sent
y'all
an
update
on
that
in
December.
A
To
show
you
some
of
the
new
features
of
the
City
Health
dashboard
is
going
and
I'd
like
to.
If
you
ever
have
any
feedback
that
I
can
share
with
them.
I'd
like
to
to,
if
you've,
let
me
know
or
things
that
you
like,
or
you
don't
like
about
it-
that
maybe
I
could
see
if
we
can
find
out
some
more
information
for
you
on
the
monthly
updates
and
the
health
issues
that
are
in
the
Tri-County
area,
through
the
Lowcountry
Region,
Medical
directors
briefings
of
what
Katie
does
it's
been
people
tune
in
just
to
hear?
A
What's
going
on
and
get
an
update,
and
so
we're
very
fortunate
that
we
have
Dr
Richardson
as
part
of
our
team
and
Susan
Johnson
has
been
good
to
keep
us
done.
A
great
job
of
keeping
us
updated
on.
What's
going
on
with
the
heat
studies
and
and
things
that
that
we
can
do
in
our
community
to
try
to
to
help
out
with
it,
such
as
later
on,
you
see
is
such
as
the
drive
that
that
group
led
to
plan
18,
000,
trees
or
seedlings
last
year,
and
then
again
it
was
another
great
one.
A
A
The
second
thing
that
we're
tasked
with
is
increasing
public
awareness
and
Community
Health
and
Wellness
issues
and
through
groups
like
breathe,
easy
Tri-County,
which
is
working
on
trying
to
get
rid
of
Menthol
or
trying
to
address
menthol's
impact
on
the
the
African-American
Community,
as
well
as
other
areas
throughout
our
community.
They
still
have
not
formalized
what
they
are
asking
of
the
city,
but
it
at
least
starting
an
awareness
which
is
important.
A
We
did
last
year
spend
a
couple
meetings
talking
about
disparities
and
life
expectancy.
We
do
have
in
our
February
meeting
Better
Health
Care.
It's
going
to
give
us
a
little
update
on
what
they've
been
doing
with
with
addressing
the
equity
and
disparities
issues.
A
We
also
talked
last
meeting
about
the
2022
Community
Health
needs
assessment.
That's
just
recently
was
completed
by
Rupert
Saint,
Francis
MUSC
and
Trident
United
Way,
and
as
it
we
get
more
formal
information
from
that.
We'll
share
it
with
you,
but
that's
a
good
beginning
of
looking
at
new
data
from
our
community
just
to
see
where
we
are
and
and
other
areas
that
we
can
address.
A
Fast
Track
cities
we've
been
very
fortunate
to
have
the
the
shape
Group,
which
stands
for
sexual
health,
awareness
and
prevention
and
education
and
Dr
Richardson's
leadership
to
to
just
keep
that
at
a
Forefront
as
we
try
to
get
closer
to
ending
the
epidemic
of
of
HIV
and
AIDS
in
our
state
and
our
nation.
A
So
that's
a
area
that
we've
been
tasked
with
for
and
through
2030
to
try
to
get
it
up
to
I,
think
95,
95
95
for
the
three
areas,
and
we
have
a
little
bit
of
work
to
go
with
that.
A
But
we
have
a
good
team
working
for
it
and
now
and
then
just
Katie,
just
Dr
Richardson
just
briefly
talked
to
us
again
about
the
new
Charleston
County
Regional
Medical,
Services
Hub.
So
we're
excited
for
that
and
again
our
goal
should
be
helping
to
increase
that
public
awareness
and
and
letting
people
know.
What's
going
on
in
our
community.
We've
done
a
great
job,
I!
Think
of
educating
citizens
on
health
lifestyle
choices,
including,
but
not
limited
to
nutrition,
physical
activity
and
safety.
A
We
introduced
and
talked
about
the
the
city's
efforts
through
our
Police
Department
fire
department
and
homeless
group
homeless,
division
to
address
the
monies
that
are
available
in
the
opioid
settlement
time
as
part
of
that
Dr
Richardson,
and
then
made
a
great
discussion
on
talking
about
harm
reduction
place
in
and
amongst
prevention,
treatment
and
Recovery.
A
While
we
I
don't
know
exactly
what
was
asked
for
in
the
first
round,
we
do
know
that
they
are
looking
at
those
areas
and
how
to
place
and
and
with
MUSC
and
other
partners
that
were
established
to
help
with
disarm
reductions.
I
hope
that
in
the
future
funding
that
we
will
specifically
try
to
address
how
we
can
tie
in
our
community
with
that
as
well
too
so
thankful,
Jennifer
Roberts,
is
on
board
with
the
mental
health,
National
crisis
call
line
and
988.
We
just
heard
that
update.
A
A
Then
we
had
the
we
had
the
little.
We
learned
a
little
bit
from
the
Alzheimer's
group
through
the
brain
health
challenge
of
just
trying
to
get
people
up
and
moving
more.
We
had
the
discussion
of
Mental
Health.
A
Excuse
me
Suicide
Prevention,
and
what
what
is
available
out
there
to
help
spread
that
word,
DHEC
came
in
in
the
first
part
of
last
year
and
talked
about
childhood
immunizations
and
we've
been
working
with
MUSC
to
spread
that
word
I'm
helping
to
deal
with
gun
violence
prevention
in
the
Low
Country.
So
you
can
see
we
we
put
a
lot
on
our
plate
to
just
try
to
keep
information
out
there
providing
recognition.
The
third
one
was
providing
recommendations
for
a
healthy
environment
to
combat
childhood
and
adult
obesity.
A
Excuse
me
some
of
those
items
try
the
United
Way's
doing
their
community
garden
initiative
and
DHEC
has
started
their
food
accessing
Maps.
Working
with
what
low
country
food
bank
already
has
in
place
with
their
mapping
access
points,
and
then
we
back
December.
A
A
year
ago,
we
got
Health
in
all
policies
incorporated
into
the
work
identified
in
the
city
plan,
which
I
think
is
a
just
a
game
changer
for
the
fact
that
our
city
plan
is
now
focusing
on
health
items,
makes
a
a
large
statement,
I
think
for
our
community
of
how
we
value
a
healthy
community,
and
then
one
of
the
the
fourth
area
is
providing
recommendations
for
creating
and
promoting
healthy
workplace
in
the
community.
A
A
Called
the
South
Carolina
healthy
business
challenge,
where
we
now
are
going
Statewide
with
it
and
part
of
that
season
has
been
very
instrumental
in
introduced
to
getting
connections
down
here
for
the
South
Carolina
7
Expedition,
which
in
July
looks
at
all
the
the
watersheds
and
and
beautiful
Parks
throughout
the
or
available
resources
throughout
our
our
state,
from
the
upstate
to
the
Lower
State
and
just
brings
awareness
to
it
to
help
us
to
to
really
appreciate
what
we
have
and
and
maybe
help
us
more
responsible
for
what
we
want
to
keep
for
a
long
time.
A
And
finally,
our
our
task
is
to
make
recommendations
on
the
city,
partnership
with
private
public
organizations
to
create
support
and
encourage
Community
programs
and
activities
benefiting
health
and
wellness
and
I
just
tried
to
highlight
some
of
the
the
items
that
we
talked
about
last
year
and
tried
to
get
it
out
in
front
of
our
community
and
hoping
that
we
would
make
connections.
A
Community
highlighted
the
low
country
food
bank
and
the
South
Carolina
Low
Country
region,
special
events
that
they
had
in
May
and
September,
and
we
know
they
do
this
year
round.
So
the
more
we
can
do
to
get
the
low
country
food
banks
name
out
there
and
all
of
our
works
is,
is
the
best
thing
we
can
do
to
try
to
get
people
eating
healthy
on
a
regular
basis.
We
know
try
to
United
Way
and
healthy
Tri-County.
A
Is
it's
working
to
try
to
improve
Access
to
Health
Care,
among
other
items,
we're
very
fortunate
maggies
on
on
hand
on
a
week
weekly
or
a
monthly
basis,
helping
us
with
the
Charleston
County
School,
District
action,
health
and
wellness
throughout
the
year
Community
initiative?
This
is
what
I
talked
about.
What
Susan
was
doing
with
the
heat
project
of
they
did
a
power
plant
South
Carolina
last
year,
which
was
initially
to
to
the
initiative.
A
And
finally,
if
you
remember,
Dr
hink
talked
to
us
a
couple
times
over
the
last
two
years
about
musc's
hospital-based
violence,
Intervention
Program,
and
that
was
a
special.
If
we
remember
when
we
had
the
shootings
in
the
Ardmore
area
and
the
West
Ashley
with
kids,
shooting,
kids
and
I.
Think
all
of
those
items
that
that
we
talked
about
with
with
Annie
and
and
Dr
hink
are.
Are
you
know
their
Seeds
of
Hope
in
our
community
and
I?
A
Think
that
as
a
advisory
committee,
y'all
had
a
lot
on
your
agenda
and
you
listened
and
heard
a
lot,
but
also
been
able
to
share
a
lot
of
information
to
get
it
out
to
our
community.
So
I
think
from
an
informative
side.
We
have
I
feel
like
y'all
have
been
busy.
Y'all
have
kept
me
busy,
so
I
just
want
to
just
thank
you.
I
just
thought.
A
I
want
to
give
you
a
little
snapshot
of
what
we've
done
and
I'll
share
that
with
you
after
the
meeting,
but
I
just
wanted
to
just
remind
you
that
your
work
is
appreciated
and,
and
hopefully
we
can
continue
to
to
to
meet
the
needs
of
what
this
committee
was
set
up
to
do
so
anyways.
Thank
you.
Yeah.
B
Thank
you
Paul
when
you
put
it
all
together,
I.
Thank
you
for
all
the
work
you
did
in
putting
this
together
and
all
the
work
that
you've
done
throughout
2022,
and
you
know
when
you
look
at
it
and
you
go
back
and
look.
It
is
a
tremendous
amount
of
work
that
this
committee's
done
and
we're
so
fortunate
to
have
the
expertise
and
the
work
and
the
knowledge
that
goes
into
this
committee.
B
B
Thank
you
again,
Paul
appreciate
all
the
all
the
work
that
you've
done
and
for
putting
that
together
for
us,
so
we're
going
to
move
on
to
workplace
wellness
and
the
South
Carolina
healthy
business,
Challenge
and
I'm
going
to
call
on
Dr
Susan
Johnson.
If
you
would
please.
E
All
right
can
y'all
hear
me,
okay
and
see
my
screen.
Yes,
great,
well,
Paul.
Thank
you
for
providing
the
time
for
me
to
share
our
a
little
bit
of
history,
about
the
healthy
business
Challenge
and
some
successes
that
we've
had
over
the
past
year
and
some
of
the
things
that
we're
looking
forward
to
for
2023..
So
as
Paul
mentioned,
we
have
this
program
is
a
free
collaborative
program.
E
Paul
and
I
actually
developed
the
program
back
in
2014
and
launched
it
in
2015.,
and
so
it
really
is
for
the
City
of
Charleston
and
MUSC
in
particular
the
office
of
health
promotion.
It.
You
know
we
have
kind
of
been
the
in-kind
sponsors
if
you
will
of
this
program
and
developing
it
managing
it
leading
It
Forward,
but
we
obviously
could
not
offer
it
for
free
and
have
continued
to
offer
it
all
these
years
without
financial
support.
E
So
we
have
been
very
fortunate
from
the
very
beginning
to
have
Blue
Cross
Blue
Shield
of
South
Carolina,
as
our
presenting
sponsor
and
Gallagher
has
been
an
in-kind
sponsor,
and
they
came
on
board
this
past
year
as
a
supporting
sponsor.
So
not
only
are
they
providing
in-kind
support,
but
they
also
are
are
providing
financial
support
for
our
expansion,
and
then
we
also
have
are
very
grateful
to
have
Joey
currents
with
the
healthy
people,
healthy
Carolinas
program,
providing
leadership
and
support
financial
support
as
well.
E
So
we
really
believe
that
we
could
not
have
had
the
successes
and
unlock
and
the
longevity
that
we've
had
without
this,
including
all
of
these
different
sectors-
and
you
know
it
really
truly-
is
I-
think
a
testament
to
what
can
happen
when
you
bring
you
know,
multi-sector
leaders
to
the
table
and
are
committed
to
finding
you
know
Common
Ground
and
mutual
goals,
and
even
if
we're
in
the
cell,
in
the
same
sector
or
industry
and
in
out
in
the
real
world,
we
may
be
competitors
in
this
space.
E
So
our
leadership
team
consists
of
the
founders
and
our
sponsors,
so
you
can
see
there
the
individuals
that
are
committing
their
time
and
energy
and
expertise
and
resources
to
this
program
and
I
can
tell
you
you
know
we
all
have
day
jobs.
This
is
obviously
something
that
we
are
incredibly
passionate
about
and
we
commit
that
time
and
energy
to
making
this
program
successful,
and
we
also
could
not
do
it
without
our
strategic
Partners.
E
So,
in
addition
to
our
sponsors,
our
financial
sponsors,
we
also
have
strategic
partners
and
I'm
going
to
talk
a
little
bit
about
specifically
the
South
Carolina
Hospital
Association,
but
we
really
lean
on
our
Chambers.
Our
local
Chambers
actually
had
the
opportunity
to
speak
about
this
program
at
the
South
Carolina
State
Chamber
annual
meeting
this
past
November.
E
So
we're
looking
for
that
supports
just
in
terms
of
getting
the
word
out:
Live
Well,
Greenville,
whole
Spire,
our
city
officials,
elected
officials,
very
important
to
have
them
engaged
and
when
possible,
attend
our
events
and
then
our
state
leaders
and
then,
of
course,
our
media
partner,
the
South
Carolina
business.
E
We
have
a
wonderful
website
that
has
resources
and
toolkits
and
but
I
think
that
the
core
of
our
program
is
our
in-person
events
and
we
have
this
has
kind
of
evolved
over
the
years
when
we
first
launched
in
2015,
we
were
the
Charleston
healthy
business
Challenge
and
we
did
quarterly
lunch
and
learn
seminars
and
we
kind
of
moved
around
town
and
did
them
in
different
locations.
E
But
as
we
expand,
we're
really
trying
to
be
more
thoughtful
about
how
we
can
be
most
impactful
and
not
water,
it
down
and
understand
that
people
sometimes
struggle
to
get
out
of
their
office
to
attend
events,
so
we're
moving
to
a
format
of
two
in-person
events
per
year
and
then
other
opportunities
throughout
the
year
through
our
partners.
E
So
just
to
give
you
a
little
snapshot
of
what
our
in-person
events
look
like.
We
bring
in
expert
speakers
and
we
for
each
one
of
our
events.
We
select
a
topic
that
we
believe
is
kind
of
trending
and
relevant,
and
the
worksite
Wellness
space
and
the
format
for
our
events
is
to
provide
a
healthy
lunch
in
a
beautiful
space
and
provide
opportunities
for
networking.
We
again
have
a
speaker
on
a
specific
topic,
but
we
also
like
to
bring
in.
E
We
really
believe
it's
important
to
connect
our
businesses
and
participants
to
the
resources
in
their
community
that
can
help
support
their
worksite
well-being
strategies.
So
we
always
have
exhibitors
anywhere
from
three
to
five
Community
exhibitors,
who
are
kind
of
tied
into
the
topic
of
the
day.
We
give
them
opportunities
to
share
about
their
maybe
have
they
have
an
upcoming
event.
So
for
this
one
in
particular,
we
had
low
country
local
first
sharing
about
local
month.
E
So
we
try
and
provide
that
opportunity
to
for
not
a
lot
of
our
non-profits
that
are
doing
Health,
promoting
work
or
have
events
to
give
them
the
opportunity
to
share
with
the
business
community,
and
then
we
also
like
to
do
spotlights
for
our
participants,
and
so
we
we
know
that
our
members
and
participants
are
doing
really
great
work
within
their
own
organizations,
and
so
we
encourage
them
to
be
willing
to
share
their
about
their
programs,
and
we
I'm
going
to
jump
forward
for
a
second
have
started
a
new
format
of
actually
doing
one
event
per
year
in
each
of
our
regions,
at
as
a
site
visit
where
we
are
mem,
we
are
doing
a
member
Spotlight
and
that
organization
invites
us
onto
their
property,
they
host
the
luncheon
and
they
share
what
they're
doing
and
our
participants
our
participants
can
see
firsthand
and
this.
E
This
came.
This
model
came
from
our
work
with
the
South
Carolina
Hospital
Association,
so
I'm
just
gonna
back
up
for
a
second
and
then
I'll
talk
about
the
healthy
Charles
or
the
South
Carolina
healthy,
Hospital
Association.
But
we
also
like
to
do
fun
things.
And
so
this
is
an
example
of
our
holiday
events.
We
did
this
on
Daniel
Island
for
a
couple
years,
where
we
had
some
speakers
talking
about
how
to
stay
healthy
through
the
holidays,
and
we
had
some
exhibitors
that
were
selling
kind
of
health,
related
gifts,
holiday
gifts.
E
So
that
was
a
lot
of
fun,
but
we
do
because
we
are
the
healthy
business
challenge.
There
is
an
opportunity
for
recognition
and
we
have
always
said
that
we
really
the
challenge
is
within
your
own
organization
to
make
an
incremental
improvements
and
we
want.
We
need
to
have
some
framework
to
allow
them
to
measure
themselves
year
after
year.
E
So
when
we
first
started
this
program
back
in
2015,
we
actually
were
given
access
to
the
city
of
Nashville's
Corporate
Challenge,
and
they
had
that's
actually
where
our
logo
came
from,
but
they
had
a
whole
Suite
of
resources
and
they
had
a
scorecard
that
they
gave
to
us
and
we
adapted
to
Charleston,
but
because
of
our
history
with
the
South
Carolina
Hospital
Association
the
working
well
program.
E
We
were
able
to
transition
along
with
them
as
they
developed
a
new
tool
to
measure
organizational
well-being,
and
so
a
quick,
backstory
MUSC
joined
the
hospital
Association
in
2011
as
a
center
of
excellence
for
the
working
law
program.
The
first
three
years
of
that
program
were
funded
by
Duke
endowment
and
they
were.
It
was
specifically
for
all
hospitals
in
South
Carolina
to
improve
the
health
of
health
care
workers.
E
But
so
we
served
as
a
center
of
excellence
for
that
program
and
we
made
a
lot
of
changes
on
our
own
campus
and
then,
after
that,
cycle
of
funding
was
up.
They
were
able
to
secure
additional
funding
and
expand
the
working
well
program
to
all
sectors
of
business
in
South,
Carolina,
and
so
the
charge
to
the
centers
of
excellence
were
to
find
a
way
to
become
a
resource.
E
Take
what
you've
learned
and
become
a
resource
in
your
own
community,
and
so
that's
when
I
reached
out
to
Paul
and
we
developed
this
program,
and
so
we've
continued
to
engage
and
partner
with
the
South
Carolina
Hospital
Association,
and
we
currently
use
their
strategy
for
well-being
tool
as
one
way
that
our
participants
can
be
recognized
for
their
efforts.
But
we
also
understand
that
not
all
businesses
have
the
time
or
resources
or
is
a
good
fit
for
that
tool.
E
And
so
we
wanted
to
make
sure
that
there
were
other
ways
that
companies,
even
a
sole
proprietor
or
a
micro
business,
could
also
receive
recognition
just
by
engaging
with
our
program.
And
so
there
is
a
we'll,
be
cut,
we'll,
be
launching
this
in
the
spring
kind
of
a
new
way
of
recognizing
our
members.
E
But
the
South
Carolina
Hospital
associate
Association.
As
I
said,
we
use
their
tool
strategy
for
well-being
and
it
measures
organizational
being
across
11
Dimensions
that
you
see
there
and
it
really
is
a
robust
tool.
We
have
free
access
for
many
of
our
members
through
Blue
Cross,
depending
on
what
their
coverage
is.
If
they're
a
major
group
member
or
if
they
are
a
State
Chamber
member,
we
also
have,
through
our
sponsors
the
ability
to
offer
free
access
to
up
to
20
businesses
in
the
Charleston
area
and
then,
through
our
contract
with
the
hospital
Association.
E
We
have
a
very
low
rate
for
anyone
else
who
wants
access
to
the
platform
of
500
and
there's
a
lot
that
you
get
for
that
really
feel
like
it's.
It's
well
worth
the
money
spent.
If,
if
organizations
have
that
money
in
their
Wellness
budget
and
they
don't
fit
into
any
of
the
three
categories,
but
in
addition
to
that
Statewide
recognition,
they
get
access
to
all
the
training
tools
and
all
the
things
that
the
hospital
Association
everything
that
they
have,
that
they're
putting
out
so
really
proud
of.
E
Where
we
started
and
where
we've
come,
we
have
impacted
a
tremendous
amount
number
of
businesses
in
Charleston
and
I
think
it
was
always
our
desire
to
take
what
we
had
created
and
built
here
in
Charleston
and
expand
it.
And
so,
after
you
know
kind
of
taking
a
little
bit
of
a
pause
during
covet.
We
had
to
obviously
go
all
virtual.
E
You
know
we
didn't
skip
a
beat
and
we
continue
to
put
out
great
content,
but
we
we
had
an
opportunity
as
a
team
to
really
consider
what
it
would
take
for
us
to
expand
this
program
and
it
really
was
attending
the
South
Carolina
chamber
meeting
in
2021
and
then
subsequently
having
the
lieutenant
governor
as
our
keynote
speaker
for
one
of
our
first
in-person
seminars
after
covid-
and
you
know,
Folks
at
the
state
level
were
saying
we
really
need
to
make
this
available
to
all
businesses
in
our
state
and
so
with
that
and
again
with
some
additional
funding
from
Gallagher
and
blue
cross.
E
Again
stepping
up
and
saying
we're
going
to
support
this
expansion.
We
rebranded
the
Charleston
healthy
business
challenge
to
the
South
Carolina
healthy
business
Challenge,
and
really
excited
to
say
that
in
2023
we
will
have
all
three
of
these
regions
online.
So
our
expansion
is
that
the
existing
core
team
will
continue
to
to
lead
the
pro
Statewide
program.
E
We
brought
in
a
a
manager
from
Gallagher
who
is
based
in
Greenville
to
lead
the
upstate,
and
then
we
will
identify
someone
in
the
Midlands
to
join
our
team
so
that
we
have
someone
in
each
of
these
regions
to
really
Drive
the
the
programming
and
not
so
much
the
programming,
but
more
just
recruiting
and
communicating
to
the
business
community
that
this
is
a
something
that
is
available
to
them.
We
do
have
the
PD
as
a
an
aspiration.
I
believe
we'll
probably
be
looking
at
that
in
24..
I.
E
Think
that
it's
in
terms
of
scaling
this
we
we
don't
want
to
overextend
so
bringing
one
region
on
per
year
seems
to
be
something
that
we
can.
We
can
manage,
but
we
were
really
excited.
We
had
an
amazing
launch
in
Greenville
on
the
upstate
at
the
end
of
June.
Again
we
had
the
lieutenant
governor
as
our
speaker.
She
did
an
amazing
job
and
we
brought
on
Livewell
Greenville,
which
is
another
great
organization
that
had
traditionally
done
work
in
the
space.
E
So
we
feel
like
it's
really
important,
to
identify
these
non-profit
organizations
and
other
folks
in
the
communities
that
are
doing
this
work
and
so
that
we
can
all
work
together
and
I
will
say
we
plan
to.
We
actually
have
the
date
set
for
the
Midlands
is
May
17th.
So
we
will
be
continuing
to
update
you
on
on
that
expansion.
E
But
if
you
have
colleagues
in
the
Midlands
please
reach
out
to
us-
and
let
us
know
you
can
see
that
these
venues
are
spectacular
and
we
decided
to
invest
in
a
membership
with
the
well.
We
in
the
harbor
Club
in
Charleston
one
because
MUSC
has
office
space
there,
and
so
we
got
a
really
great
rate,
but
they
have
a
reciprocal
Club
agreement,
which
is
allowing
us
to
host
our
events
in
these
beautiful
places.
Parking
is
not
an
issue
anymore.
E
We
don't
have
to
pay
venue
fees
and
we,
it
just
allows
us
to
really
focus
on
the
content
and
the
speakers,
and
not
so
much
on
catering
and
all
the
other
things
that
go
along
with
that.
So
we'll
be
hosting
these
events
at
the
the
harbor
Club
in
the
Charleston
region.
E
At
the
Commerce
club,
which
is
the
one
that
you
see
here
in
the
upstate
and
then
we
have
the
opportunity
to
use
either
the
Palmetto
club
or
the
Capital
Club
in
Colombia,
so
that
really
helps
to
facilitate
our
program
and
make
it
easy
for
our
attendees
to
to
get
there,
and
then
we
also
really
want
to
when
we
have
opportunities,
promote
health
and
well-being
through
other
community
activities.
E
And
so
we,
this
the
adventure
out
program,
is
actually
an
MUSC
program
that
the
South
Carolina
healthy
business
challenge
is
now
the
sponsor
of,
and
so
we
partner
with
the
City
of
Charleston
and
the
parks
department
to
offer
a
free
yoga
class
once
a
month
in
Hampton,
Park
and
orbital
Bank
Park.
So
you
can
see
our
dates
there
on
the
flyer
I'm
happy
to
share
that
with
everyone.
Actually
Paul
I
should
send
that
to
you,
so
you
can
distribute
that
another
Paul
mentioned
this
in
his
recap
of
2022.
E
We
have
now
the
South
Carolina
healthy
business
challenge
has
we've
participated
in
the
se7
for
two
years
now
and
we'll
continue
to
do
so.
We
think
it's
an
amazing
program
and
now
especially
because
we
are
expanded,
Statewide,
it's
a
perfect
opportunity
for
us
to
again
partner
with
other
non-profit
organizations
who
align
with
our
work
and
try
and
get
companies
engaged.
E
But
the
se7
is
the
entire
month
of
July.
It
starts.
We
kick
it
off
in
the
upstate
in
Oconee
County
and
we
kind
of
loosely
follow
the
Palmetto
trail
from
the
mountains
to
the
Sea,
and
we
have
a
lot
of
public
facing
free
events
as
well
as
some
you
know.
Every
day
there
is
an
expedition
and
I
have
been
fortunate
to
be
invited
because
MUSC
ended
up
being
a
presenting
sponsor
last
year
to
serve
on
the
Expedition
team
and
the
planning
committee,
but
I
I,
it's
just.
E
E
About
it,
but
I
will
continue
to
keep
this
group
updated
because
it
does
go
through
Charleston
the
past
two
years.
We've
actually
ended
in
Charleston,
but
next
this
for
23
we'll
be
ending
in
Beaufort,
but
we'll
still
have
three
or
four
days
of
events
in
Charleston,
and
so
we
have
tied
in
the
adventure
out
program
to
the
se7.
E
So
when
the
se7
Expedition
team
gets
to
the
Low
Country,
we
again
partner
with
these
amazing
organizations
to
get
them
engaged,
so
they
get
to
host
events
and
we
promote
them,
and
these
events
from
last
year
sold
out-
and
it
just
is
another
opportunity
for
us
to
raise
awareness
about
the
amazing
work
that
these
folks
are
doing
and
to
collaborate.
E
So
we
have
all
we're
we're
on
all
the
social
media
platforms
on
LinkedIn.
As
I
said,
we've
updated
our
website.
We'll
continue
to
do
that,
and
we
encourage
you
to
follow
us
and
share
with
your
your
own
organizations
and
with
any
of
the
organizations
that
you
interact
with.
Because
again
this
is
free
and
it's
there's
there's
no
reason
why
we
can't
continue
to
build
our
participation.
B
Wow
great,
thank
you
so
much,
that's
incredible!
How
you've
expanded
and
grown
this
and
the
great
things
you
do
in
Susan
and
obviously
I
see
Joey's
face
in
there
a
lot
too.
So
you
know
thank
you
for
all
that,
you're
all
that
you're
doing
on
this
any
questions.
B
A
And
Susan
what
size
of
businesses
are
can
participate
in
this.
E
From
one
to
Infinity-
and
we
actually
have
we-
we
I
I
didn't
have
a
slide.
I
should
have
put
put
it
in
there,
but
we
have
pretty
much
every
sector
of
Industry,
non-profit
for-profit
governments
from
a
sole
proprietor,
all
the
way
up
to
our
muscs
and
our
boeings
and
the
you
know
the
big
organizations,
the
Ports
Authority,
so
yeah,
there's
something
for
everyone.
E
H
Susan
I
haven't
been
that
active
since
covet.
I
have
to
be
honest,
but
I
did
participate
a
good
bit
before
covet
and
it's
great
you
could
I've
really
enjoyed
the
the
things
I've
come
to.
So
thank
you.
Thank.
E
D
C
B
Well,
thank
you
again,
Susan.
Thank
you
so
much
for
all
that.
You've
done
with
that
that's
outstanding,
so
we'll
move
on
to
our
community
health
update
and
Dr
Katie
Richardson.
If
you
would
please.
G
Thanks
again,
so
as
as
I've
certainly
heard
from
my
own
Community
friends
and
family,
we
are
seeing
increased
covid
cases
in
our
communities.
This
is
we're
now
at
sort
of
a
medium
commute,
not
sort
of.
We.
C
G
G
So
all
of
these
were
green
are
at
the
low
level
prior
to
the
holidays,
and
so
we
we're
not
seeing
any
decreases
yet
and
with
New
Year's
Just
Happening.
G
We
feel
like
we
may
continue
to
see
higher
numbers
of
cases
as
well
as
hospitalizations
here
in
our
communities
through
the
the
middle
of
January.
If
not
further
we're
seeing.
G
Cases
in
our
long-term
care
facilities
and
nursing
homes,
currently
39
in
the
Low
Country
region,
are
an
outbreak
status
and
when
doing
these
investigations,
we're
finding
that
that
often
the
cases
are
coming
in
to
these
facilities
through
visitors,
and
so
that's
while
not
surprising,
is
a
good
reminder
that
those
of
us
who
are
around
vulnerable
adults
and
kids,
it's
especially
important
to
have
our
booster
vaccination
to
stay
away
when
symptomatic
with
the
respiratory
illness
and
and
to
wear
a
mask
when,
when
in
those
facilities.
G
Similarly,
with
flu,
we
continue
to
be
in
widespread
activity.
We
have
seen
some
decrease
in
cases
as
well
as
hospitalizations.
In
our
last
weekly
report,
there
were
95
hospitalizations
across
the
state
we've
seen
over
2
000
between
352.
G
So
far
this
year
we
had
six
deaths
last
week
and
that's
adds
to
the
63
total
we've
had
this
season,
so
while
cases
and
hospitalizations
with
flu
are
decreasing,
they're
still
higher
than
our
flow
Peak
over
the
past
four
years,
so
we're
continually
continuing
to
battle
and
Meredith
may
want
to
speak
to
this
from
the
clinical
side.
But
continuing
to
to
deal
with
this
in
our
emergency
rooms,
our
urgent
cares
our
clinics
and
our
hospitals,
not
only
flu
and
coven,
but
also
other
respiratory
illnesses.
G
So
a
good
reminder
that
flu
vaccines
are
still
available
and
and
still
definitely
recommended,
as
well
as
the
the
covid
booster
and
then
I
just
want
to
briefly
mention.
Paul
mentioned
the
work
around
the
opioid
settlement.
G
Funds
and
I
just
wanted
to
make
sure
that
all
of
you
saw
in
the
paper
and
otherwise
in
the
news
that
there
has
been
a
South,
Carolina
center
of
excellence
and
addiction
that
has
been
established
in
South
Carolina,
the
governor
and
Sarah
goldsby,
who
heads
up
day
Otis
announced
this
I
believe
earlier
this
week,
certainly
over
the
holiday
season.
It's
a
collaboration
between
day
Otis,
DHEC,
Clemson,
University
of
South,
Carolina
and
MUSC,
and
really
it's
to
improve
our
state's
ability
to
identify
and
treat
those
with
substance
use
disorder.
G
There
was
a
very
positive
op-ed
in
the
posting
Courier
I
think
today
about
it,
just
the
collaboration,
the
moving
away
from
siled
work
to
collaborating
the
support
from
the
state,
in
addition
to
the
opioid
settlement,
funds
coming
in
I
think
gives
gives
me
hope
that
that
we
will
use
those
funds
and
the
most
evidence-based,
effective
way
possible
to
address
substance,
use
disorder
in
our
communities
and
finally,
just
on
the
DHEC
level.
G
Following
up
on
that
I
think
I
mentioned
this
last
time,
but
we
are
providing
free
of
charge.
Naloxone
and
Fentanyl
test
strips
in
all
of
our
health
departments
to
those
who
need
it
personally
or
or
may
have
a
family
member
or
friend,
who
may
benefit
from
that.
So
naloxone
is
used
to
counteract
an
opioid
overdose
and
Fentanyl
test
strips
can
be
used
with
residue
and
and
a
little
bit
of
water
mixed
in
often
in
a
bottle
cap
or
just
sort
of
a
shallow
bowl.
G
Something
like
that
to
look
for
fentanyl,
which
may
make
that
particular
substance
much
more
deadly
and
and
that
can
be
often
mixed
in
heroin
or
another
opioid
or
another
substance
on
in
an
unknowing
way.
To
the
the
use
of
that
substance,
so
so
please
help
us
get
the
word
out
that
those
are
available.
G
A
name
does
not
have
to
be
given
for
someone
to
walk
in
and
receive
that
what
we're
calling
them
safety
kits,
but
they
include
the
naloxone,
the
fentanyl
test
strips
as
well
as
some
educational
information,
so
again,
Happy
New,
Year,
I'm
hopeful
for
a
a
healthy
2,
20
23
for
Charleston
and
the
track
County
region.
Thanks
all.
I
I
Luckily
we're
not
seeing
the
heavier
hit
like
we
all
obviously
had
a
couple
years
ago,
but
but
it's
it's
still
there
and
people
have
just
I
guess
the
community
has
just
thought
that
it's
it's
pretty
much
over,
that
it's
something!
We've
we've
gone
past,
but
it's
not
so
you
still
have
to
be
careful.
The
whole
everybody
started
washing
their
hands
and
doing
what
they
needed
to
do
and
everything
during
covet,
and
now
it's
just
kind
of
it's
not
as
important
anymore,
so
that
needs
to
be
pushed
back
into
into
the
Limelight.
I
The
and
I
also
want
to
tell
us
or
mention
to
Susan
I'm,
going
to
email.
You
a
little
later
I
want
to
see
how
Robert
St
Francis
can
get
involved
in
this
if
they're,
not
if,
if
we
haven't
I,
want
to
get
more
involvement
in
and
I
want
to
speak
to
our
new
leadership
about
getting
involved
in
this,
because
this
is
something
I
think
we
need
to
jump
in
this
with
you
and
help
in
any
way
we
can
so
I'll
email.
I
You
sometime
the
next
couple
days
about
that,
but
yeah
we're
we're
just
doing
the
best
we
can
here
in
all
hospitals.
I
know,
Berkeley
has
been
approved
to
expand,
so
Berkeley
hospital
is
growing
and
then
we're
still
working
on
moving
broker
hospital
to
to
the
526
I-26
area,
so
that
Roper
downtown
is
moving.
I
But
we
have
a
lot
of
growth
happening
within
the
next.
We
call
it
our
2030
campaign,
so
in
the
next
eight
seven
years,
we're
gonna,
that's
gonna,
be
more
and
more
and
more.
What
we're
doing
for
the
to
how
to
help
the
low
country
as
well.
I
But
the
the
big
thing
right
now
is
just
to
keep
the
idea
of
it's
It's
we're
not
out
of
the
woods
yet
when
it
comes
to
illness.
Obviously
that
will
never
happen.
That's
why
hospitals
will
stay
where
they
need
to
be,
but
everybody
just
needs
to
still
be
cautious
of
what
they're
doing
and
what
touching
washing
hands
make
sure
you
keep
distance
between
people.
I
That's
still
that's
still
going
to
be
a
big
thing
because
we
are
like
Katie
was
saying
all
the
numbers
she's
seeing
I'm
I'm,
seeing
it
active
in
our
different
phone
calls
within
our
hospital
system.
So
it's
it's
still
heavy.
B
Thank
you
for
that
appreciate
it.
Anyone
else
and
Paul
Katie.
G
Yes,
we
are.
Thank
you,
that's
a
great
reminder
that
that
those
are
still
available,
I,
believe
they're
available
at
all
of
our
health
departments
and
I,
don't
know
for
sure,
if
we're
still
giving
them
to
the
the
libraries
but
but
please
reach
out.
G
If
you
are
part
of
an
organization
and
in
need,
then
we
would
love
to
share
whatever
we
have
testing
and
vaccination
and
prevention
with
the
hand,
hygiene,
the
masking
staying
home
when
sick
as
Meredith
was
saying,
this
is
really
still
our
our
armamentarium
for
dealing
with
these
respiratory
infections,
particularly
coping.
G
There
are
two
in
Berkeley
County
there's
one
The
Goose
Creek
Health,
Clinic,
I,
I'm,
pretty
sure
it's
it's
right
near
I,
don't
want
to
say
off
the
top
of
my
head,
but
it's
right
near
a
high
school
and
an
elementary
school
that
are
right
together.
G
So
really
it's
just
north
of
where
our
old
Northwoods
Clinic
used
to
be,
and
then
Moncks
Corner
is,
is
our
Berkeley
County
Health
Department,
that's
in
the
old
Moncks
Corner
Hospital
building,
that's
that's
downtown!
So
those
are
our
two
Berkeley
County
Health
departments.
There's
our
Somerville
Health
Department,
that's
right,
downtown
on
Main
Street,
in
in
Somerville
and
and
now
in
Charleston.
G
We
have
the
two
Health
departments,
the
Charleston
County
Health
Department
on
Rivers
Avenue,
and
we
still
have
the
Mount
Pleasant
Health
Clinic,
that
is
out
near
the
Isle
of
Palms
Connector
Eddie.
G
B
H
Go
yeah
I
wanted
to
let
everybody
know
I've
gotten
a
new
Grant
from
another
funding
source
I
usually
get
it
from
DHEC.
This
is
another
comp
organization
and
I'm,
offering
a
free,
National,
diabetes
prevention
program
to
anyone
that
wants
to
take
part.
It's
because
of
this
grant.
I
can
offer
it
for
free
and
I'm
actively
recruiting
right
now
the
program
will
start
January
24th.
H
So
if
anybody
knows
anybody
a
lot
of
companies,
you
know
they're,
not
they're,
not
spending
money
on
this
stuff
right
now,
I
had
somebody
from
a
former
client
from
a
company
come
to
me
yesterday,
because
her
company's
not
offering
it.
So
if
you
know
anybody
who
wants
to
take
part
Paul,
you
know
you
know
how
the
program
works.
So
please,
please
have
them
reach
out
to
me
Lisa
at
Wellness,
five
f-I-v-e.com.
B
Well,
if
there's
nothing
else
to
come
before
this
committee,
I
do
want
to
wish
everybody
a
very
happy
and
healthy,
New,
Year
and
I
just
want
to
say.
Thank
you
so
much
for
the
time
you
spend
being
on
this
committee,
it's
very
important
to
us
and
we
are
very,
very
fortunate
to
have
the
expertise
and
you
know
the
knowledge
and
and
you
being
