Description
City of Charleston Committee on Ways and Means 2/9/22
A
B
B
First
order
business
january
25th,
2022,
moved
and
properly
seconded
any
discussion,
all
in
favor,
say
aye
the
eyes
have
it
bids
and
purchases
moved
and
properly
seconded
any
discussion.
All
in
favor,
say
aye
all
right.
Item
four
parks.
I
could
properly
seconded
any
discussion
on
item
four,
all
in
favor,
say:
hi
all
right
item
five,
the
eyes
have
it
item
five.
B
D
B
We
wanna
we
want
to
get
through
five
and
six
right:
okay,
I'll
second,
that
moved
and
properly
seconded
and
we're
voting
on
items.
Five
and
six
all
in
favor,
say:
aye
aye
the
eyes
have
it
item
seven
and
eight.
C
Thank
you,
chairman
gregory.
The
real
estate
committee
met
yesterday
at
3
30,
and
everything
on
our
agenda
was
approved
unanimously,
I'll
just
go
through
a
brief
summary.
The
first
two
items
that
we
discussed
have
to
do
with
utility
easements
that
were
granted
in
connection
with
the
james
lewis,
jr
east
side
apartments,
and
that
is,
I
believe,
part
of
an
effort
to
make
sure
that
the
underground
utilities
are
part
of
that
project,
which
I
think
makes
for
a
much
better
project,
both
functionally
and
aesthetically.
C
Then
we
talked
about
and
approved
a
arrangement
with
the
humanities
foundation
regarding
a
sale
of
a
parcel
that
was
about
to
you
know,
burn
off
its
affordability
period,
and
then
we
approved
a
option
to
lease
with
rhg
housing,
development
llc
regarding
the
johns
island,
affordable
housing,
rfp
for
fenwick
properties
and
then
finally,
we
renewed
a
lease
agreement
for
our
police
department,
and
that
was
the
extent
of
the
real
estates,
and
then
we
had
two
annexations
one
in
district
11
and
one
in
district
nine,
and
I
might
note
that
the
entity
that
owns
the
property
in
district
nine
is
called
little
dudes
llc
and
the
dudes
invest.
C
Llc-
and
I
think
those
are
some
of
the
best
llc
names
I've
ever
seen
so
welcome
to
charleston.
B
Is
that
a
motion
moved
in
properly?
Second,
any
discussion,
all
in
favor
of
item
10
as
submitted,
say:
aye
the
eyes
have
it
the
chairman?
Yes,
if
I.
A
B
A
Take
one
quick
minute-
and
I
may
come
back
during
council
with
another
minute
the,
but
as
often
we
we're
all
in
concurrence
on
these
items
and
there's
no
discussion,
but
I
I
just
can't
help
but
pause
to
say
what
an
amazing
amount
of
collaboration
went
into
making
number
five
and
six
come
to
us
this
evening,
total
about
15
million
dollar
project
to
extend
our
spring
fishburn
tunnel
system
over
to
the
heart
of
the
hospital
district,
which
is
the
highest
density,
jobs
per
acre
area
of
our
city.
A
A
He
gave
us
his
commitment
a
few
years
ago
when
he
went
down
in
the
tunnel
and
and
he
he
helped
make
that
happen.
So
thank
you
to
the
governor,
so
amazing
amount
of
work
went
into
that
into
this
they're,
going
to
get
started
right
away
and
in
timing
with
the
completion
of
the
spring
fish
burn
system.
We'll
also
have
this
addition
added
to
it
just
about
the
same
time
as
they
finished
phase
five
of
spring
fishburn.
It
really
is
an
amazing
accomplishment,
in
my
opinion,
so
thanks
to
everybody
involved.
Thank
you.
B
B
So
we
need
to
thank
you
for
your
work
and-
and
I'd
like
to
just
you
know,
say
thankful
because
again
we're
doing
a
lot
of
investment
in
in
district
six,
and
I
think
it's
going
to
make
a
tremendous
difference
on
the
quality
of
life
of
the
residents
of
district
6
and
beyond.
D
Would
like
to
thank
you,
know
everyone,
the
staff
and
everyone
for
working
on
this,
because
this
was
a
long
time
coming
when
you
get
into
the
spring,
whispering
street
business
a
long
long
long
time
coming
and
like
I
tell
people
every
day,
I
grew
up
in
that
particular
area,
and
that
area
was
like
this
a
long
time
and
when
they
took
away
all
those
fabulous
homes
when
they
did
the
september
clock,
it
was
a
lot
of
fabulous
homes
that
was
lost
when
they
did
that,
and
I
think
that
was
the
worst
thing
they
ever
did
when
they
ran
this
ohio
way
through
the
city
of
charleston,
but
so
be
it.
D
I'm
glad
that
they're
doing
this,
because
we
have
to
really
work
with
the
medical
institution
back
there,
because
if
this
doesn't
work,
they
can't
get
to
the
medical.
The
medical
facilities
and
people
will
be
stranded
from
getting
help
and
getting
services.
So
I'm
glad
that
we
are
pushing
this
forward
and
glad
that
the
mayor,
along
with
the
government
and
along
with
everyone
else
and
concerned
they
got
that
done.
So
I
applaud
you
all
for
doing
that
and
we'll
keep
moving.
B
Thank
you,
and
I
don't
know
whether
or
not
you
guys
read
the
article
today
in
the
paper
on
the
tunnel
and
the
one
thing
that
was
very
encouraging
to
me
is
that
the
outfall
should
be
completed
by
23,
which
means
that
we
should
get
some
at
least
relief,
especially
again
in
in
my
district,
because
we
needed
really
badly.
