Later
this
month,
Wendell's
induction
serves
to
remind
people
that
it's
not
just
about
statistics,
even
though
Wendell
was
certainly
very
successful
on
the
track
in
his
own
right
being
a
multi
time
state
champion
in
Virginia,
a
winning
driver
in
NASCAR's
premier
division
and
finishing
in
the
top
ten
thirty
percent
of
the
races
in
which
he
competed
without
the
same
caliber
of
equipment
that
many
that
he
competed
against.
Had
it
reminds
people
and
in
particular
our
youth.
A
Wendell
has
been
called
a
trailblazer,
which
I
personally
believe
that
he
was,
but
admittedly,
that
trail,
unlike
Jackie
Robinson,
for
instance,
took
a
little
bit
further
to
fill
in
Wendell's
induction
helps
connect
that
trail
for
those
that
are
competing
today.
I
think
anyone
in
any
profession,
be
it
sports,
music
or
any
other
vocation,
would
acknowledge
that
the
pinnacle
of
one's
career
and
the
most
important
validation
is
induction
into
that
professions.
Hall
of
Fame,
Wendell,
Oliver
Scott
senior
has
achieved
that
pinnacle
and
to
be
able
to
make
that
connection
between
Wendell
Scott
and
dr.
A
King,
there's
so
many
while,
while
their
paths
were
as
different
as
night
and
day
so
much
of
what
they,
what
they
lived,
how
Wendell
Scott
lived
was
exactly
how
dr.
King
lived
and
what
dr.
King
preached
and
I
don't
think
it
should
be
lost
on
folks.
The
NASCAR
Hall
of
Fame
is
on
Martin
Luther
King
jr.
Boulevard.
