From YouTube: Construction booming in Uptown Charlotte
Description
The former Charlotte Observer building at the corner of Stonewall and South Tryon Streets is being demolished. We asked Charlotteans what they would like to see take its place.
A
In
a
city
that's
constantly
moving
and
evolving
change
is
inevitable
and
you
can
watch
it
happen
at
the
corner
of
Stonewall
and
South
Tryon
streets,
where
the
old
Charlotte
Observer
building
is
coming
down
piece
by
piece
after
45
years.
So
the
question
now
is:
what
can
we
expect
to
see
here
next
to
Bank
of
America?
Stadium
I
spoke
the
residents
who
have
plenty
of
ideas.
What
do
you
think
Uptown
Charlotte
needs.
B
A
Meet
new
people,
and
while
this
building
comes
down,
plenty
of
others
are
going
up
right
now.
In
Uptown
Charlotte
there
are
2238
Apartments
under
construction
along
with
1406
hotel
rooms.
That's
according
to
Charlotte
Center
City
partners,
also
under
construction,
more
than
a
million
square
feet
of
office
space
and
60
2,200
square
feet
of
retail.
As
for
this
space,
Charlotte
based
real
estate
company
Lincoln
Harris
won't
say
only
that
the
heart
of
Uptown
can
expect
a
mixed-use
development.
