A
A
B
I'd
like
to
take
this
opportunity
to
welcome
each
and
every
one
of
you
for
being
here
for
this
going
to
be
a
very
exciting
announcement.
I
first
I
wanted
to
acknowledge
two
of
my
council
member
colleagues
who
are
here
councilmember,
johnson
and
elliston
from
the
charlotte
city
council.
Thank
you
for
being
here
today
as
well.
B
Today
we
are
here
to
celebrate
the
unveiling
of
the
new
druid.
Hillsway
street
sign
this
action
firmly
showcased
the
hard
work
of
the
city
of
charlotte,
in
collaboration
with
mecklenburg
county,
the
legacy
commission
and
the
community
to
ensure
that
not
only
the
street,
but
our
city
is
moving
in
a
progressive
way
forward
and
is
really
traverse.
B
This
work
began
with
the
mayor's
charge
to
form
a
legacy
commission,
but
this
has
involved
and
come
full
circle
because
of
this
community.
Now
I
want
to
take
the
opportunity
to
thank
each
and
every
one
of
you
from
this
community
for
your
input,
your
thinking
and
for
leading
us
in
the
right
direction.
B
The
voice
of
the
community
is
important
for
this
initiative
like
this,
and
we
heard
from
this
community
loud
and
clear,
and
that's
why
we
will
rename
the
street
druid
hills
way.
I
especially
want
to
thank
mecklenburg
county
for
their
collaboration
and
everyone
involved
in
this
process.
Certainly,
I
want
to
pause,
also
and
thank
the
city
staff
for
the
work
that
they
have
done
in
terms
of
creating
an
environment
where
community
can
come
together
to
talk
about
civic
spaces
and
how
we
change.
Thank
you
to
our
city
style.
B
C
Thank
you
councilmember.
Graham,
the
charlotte
department
of
transportation
is
committed
to
enhancing
the
driving
bicycling
and
pedestrian
experience
in
the
city
of
charlotte
by
operating
and
maintaining
our
transportation
system
for
our
residents
and
our
visitors.
That
commitment
to
our
city
includes
projects
like
this
one,
where
we
change
street
names
and
street
signs.
C
Our
team
took
the
charge
from
the
legacy
commission
and
updated
the
street
name
change
process
to
make
it
better
for
our
city
going
forward.
The
legacy
commission
is
now
a
part
of
the
review
committee
for
street
name
changes.
This
was
important
to
provide
that
extra
lens
needed
to
ensure
that
we
are
being
equitable
and
inclusive.
C
C
We
are
happy
to
be
a
part
of
implementing
the
recommendations
of
the
legacy
commission
and
our
city
council,
and
we
take
great
pride
in
this
work
and
in
continuing
the
street
naming
work
that
we
will
do
in
the
future.
Now
I
would
like
to
invite
pamela
weidman,
who
is
the
director
for
housing
and
neighborhood
services.
D
Good
morning,
everyone
thank
you,
liz
and
thank
you
councilmember,
graham,
and
I
too
would
like
to
add
my
support
and
thanks
to
our
council
members,
eggleston
and
johnson,
who
continue
to
support
not
only
the
great
work
of
neighborhoods
but
the
great
work
of
the
housing
and
neighborhood
services
department.
D
I
would
be
remiss
if
I
didn't
thank
a
few
staff
persons
personally,
emily
koontz,
who
continues
to
lead
this
work
and
then
randy
harris
who
works
in
housing
and
neighborhoods
and
aisha
sabor,
they're
out
in
the
community
every
day,
and
I'm
sure
many
of
you
know
them
really
well.
Housing
and
neighborhood
services
focuses
on
creating
vibrant,
diverse
neighborhoods
throughout
the
delivery
of
major
services
such
as
community
engagement.
D
They
had
virtual
community
meetings,
canvassed
over
a
hundred
and
fifteen
hundred
homes,
a
hundred
and
one
attendees
at
an
in-person
food
truck
event,
mailed
16
letters
to
residents
and
property
owners,
mailed
774
postcards
to
druid
hills,
residents,
yard
signs
were
placed
throughout
the
neighborhood
and
neighbors
were
also
notified
through
next
door.
This
ongoing
ongoing
outreach
was
in
collaboration
with
the
neighborhood
champions.
Druid:
hills
and
druid
hills
and
north
druitt
hills,
neighborhood
organizations,
moore
place,
local
churches
and
through
the
neighborhood
organization,
contact
list
and
again
next
door
subscribers.
D
B
Thank
you,
miss
weidman
and
again
thank
all
the
staff
for
their
participation
support
emily.
Thank
you
very,
very
much
for
leading
this
effort
on
behalf
of
the
great
neighborhoods
committee.
Miss
weidman,
you
and
your
staff
continue
to
do
amazing,
work
and
now
that
the
time
is
here
for
what
we
all
came
for.
So
if
larkin
and
renee
can
join
me
as
well,
this
is
a
team
effort.
I
think
we're
going
to
unveil
a
sign
at
some
point.
So
let's
do
it.
B
Our
goal
and
the
objective
is
to
work
with
each
and
every
neighborhood
that
we
encounter
to
do
a
great
public
engagement
session,
as
we
did
here
in
druid
hill.
So
thanks
everyone
for
coming
out
today.
I
think
the
council
members
are
available
for
questions
here
and
thanks
staff
and
everybody
else.
Thank
you
very
much.
