Communities
throughout
eastern
Massachusetts
by
pairing
them
up
with
a
transformational
one-to-one
professionally
supported
mentorship.
What
that
means
is
we
find
folks
in
the
community
that
are
willing
to
volunteer
their
time
a
couple
hours
a
month
to
spend
with
this
child
not
going
out
and
doing
loaded,
no
cost
activities
and
just
being
a
consistent,
positive
presence
in
their
life?

lot
of
the
kids
that
we
work
with.

What
we're
doing
which
we
serve
our
service
area
is
all
these
Stern
Massachusetts
so
from
the
New
Hampshire
border,
all
the
way
down
to
the
Cayman
Islands
we're
serving
about
thirty
six
hundred
fifty
here
and
with
a
goal
of
getting
up
to
5,000
kids
service
by
2020,
even
though
we
have
those
wonderful
goals
that
we're
doing
such
great
work
right
now.
The
problem
is
that
in
our
area,
we
still
have
over
1,100
kids
because
they
don't
come
out
nationally.

we've
decided
to
do
is
make
a
couple
of
targeted
partnerships
focused
on
key
communities
that
we
want
to
be,
and
one
of
those
is
with
Mass
General
Hospital.
We
earlier
this
year
started
in
partnership
with
them
to
focus
on
to
communities
in
their
areas,
were
focusing
on
Chelsea
and
Charlestown,
and
trying
to
build
community
centered
masses
in
those
communities
where
the
mentor
and
the
child
are
both
from
the
same
so.

So
the
application
process
is
pretty
simple
today.
The
form
that
takes
30
seconds
to
fill
out,
basically,
is
all
of
your
personal
information
contact
information
hanging.
All
that
what
you
then
do
is
you
get
contacted
by
a
brothers
and
sisters
you
set
up
a
15
minute
introductory
phone
goes
over
high-level
your
interest
talk,
do
a
little
bit
more
in
depth
about
the
programs,
see
if
you
have
anything
coming
up
in
the
next
year.

Get
to
know
people
on
a
personal
level.
You
want
to
get
to
know
what
makes
you
tick.
What's
your
background,
what's
your
personality
like?
What
are
your
interests?
How
do
you
handle
certain
situations?
We
do
the
same
thing
with
the
parents
and
the
children
that
are
trying
to
grow
as
well,
and
what
we
do
after
that
is
we
take
all
that
information
from
your
interview
and
the
children
of
the
family
interviews
and
we've
had
to
match
things
up
and
essentially
cherry-pick
a
little
based
off
of
common
interests.

So
you
have
some
sort
of
bedrock
to
build
off
of
from
the
very
beginning.
You
will
then
get
presented
a
couple
of
options
or
max
will
have
two
or
three
children
that
we
reach
out
to
about
saying
we'd
like
to
trying
to
match
you.
You
hear
all
about
them
when
their
backgrounds
like
prom,
what
their
interests
are
and
then
at
the
end
of
that
phone
call.
You
have
an
opportunity
to
say
yes
or
no,
the
one
of
those
if.

we
move
over
to
the
parents
and
the
families
we
present
you
to
the
management
family
in
the
same
situation.
We
tell
them
about.
You
tell
them
on
the
background,
what
we
do,
what
your
interests
are
and
that
time
they
have
to
say
yes,
so
actually
you'll.
Think
of
it
as
a
triangle,
you
got
you
the
child
and
a
thing.
All
three
points
of
that
triangle
have
to
say:

So
right
now
we're
recruiting
for
Chelsea's
our
community-based
burger.
That's
when
I
was
describing
where
I
can
get
together
with
them
twice
a
month.

just
go
out
and
explore
the
community.
That's

you

Big
Brother
existed
as
a
service
in
the
past,
like
that's
our
baseline.
That's
what
we've
always
done!

what
we're
known
for
mentor.

One
thing
that
eastern
Massachusetts
does
have
this
college
students
and
if
a
college
university
sets
up
their
own
programs
like
this,
then
they're
actually
a
competition
with
you.
So
it
seems
like
the
large
untapped
resource
about
undergraduate
and
graduate
students
that
perhaps
could
be
mentors
in
your
program.
If
the
commitment
was
less
than
one
year
whose
bit
more
out
of
school.

Program
that
assigned
about
where
they
go,
they
go
to
lunch
with
the
kids
and
we
also
have
what's
called
a
campus
based
program
where
we
work
to
prove
the
Children's
Hospital
college
campus.
Let
them
see
a
college
campus
for
the
first
time,
the
college
campus
and
do
that
twice
a
month,
those
programs
and
the
mentor
2.0
and
the
site
based
program,
all
our
balls,
so
we're
community
based
is
of
one
calendar
year,
say:
theoretically,
that's
tempers.

can
do
something,
hurt
us
and
temporarily,
allow
a
mentor
to
point
out
site
based
program
runs,
so
you
mean
remain
every
week
for
whatever
the
program
is.
You
are
off
to
the
summer
and
then
your
rematch,
the
best

child

and
you
hopefully
say
with
them
all
four
years
that
they're
at
school,
but.

elections
from
a
timely
basis
and
sponsorship
of
service
leadership
program.
It
sounds
like
a
lot,
but
some
of
the
things
you
probably
are
a
cab.
You
know
with
the
red
jacket
she
was
supporting
kpti,
so
it
should
be
good.
So.

been
elected
to
an
office
demanding
integrity
and
financial
responsibility.
It
will
be
your
task
to
deposit
the
club

disperse
them.

degree
visitors

upon

leadership,

how

conduct

club,
board
meetings,
counseling

your
committees

team

they

the
heartbeat
of
the
club,
listen

your
fellow
offices,

they
are
experienced
leaders
listen

your
district
in
international
leaders
where
they
are
in
a
position
to
help
each
alone.

can
be
a
great
president
at
home,
accept
the
challenge
with
open
girl,
good
service
conduct,
your
meetings
with
dignity,
but

it
all
have
fun.

So
we're
excited
about
that.
But
one
of
the
things
that
I
have
taken
up
on
my
you
know,
it's
close
to
my
heart
is
acknowledging
our
members
that
have
been
for
a
very
long
period
of
time
and
the
New
England
district
of
Kiwanis
has
a
region
of
Merit
and
I
requested
pens
for
fall
through
members.
