Description
City of Chelsea, La Colaborativa
A
Hi
greetings
everyone-
and
we
are
here
with
the
summer
youth
employment
initiative
lottery
here
with
la
collabretiva,
with
our
city,
counselors
and
city
manager,
and
it
is
my
pleasure
to
introduce
tom
memversino
who's
going
to
say
a
few
words
about
youth
jobs
in
our
city.
B
Well,
thank
you
very
much.
I'm
tommy
bracino
city
manager
very
excited
to
be
here
today
for
the
launch
of
the
summer
youth
employment
initiative.
This
is
a
really
important
partnership
that
the
city
has
with
la
calabretiva,
each
and
every
year
to
help
improve
the
lives
of
our
youth
by
providing
them
with
really
good
summer
job
and
great
training
from
la
calabretiva.
B
So
I'm
excited
that
we
have
a
good
amount
of
money
available
this
year
and
that
we
should
be
able
to
put
a
lot
of
chelsea
youth
to
work
this
summer.
So
with
that
said,
I'll
turn
it
over
to
my
fellow
counselors,
because
they
are
instrumental
in
ensuring
that
adequate
funding
goes
to
la
collabrotiva.
For
this
program,.
C
The
program
was
a
great
partnership
with
the
local
venetiva,
who
would
then
the
collaborative
the
chelsea
collaborative,
which
was
pushing
for
back
in
2003
to
help
reduce
youth,
violence
and
opportunities,
and
it's
a
great
partnership
not
only
with
the
organization,
but
all
the
businesses
here
in
the
city
of
chelsea
who
offer
positions
and
if
those
businesses
are
listening.
Of
course,
they
know
that
you
get
to
have
basically
an
employee
that
is
going
to
be
paid
by
this
program
to
work
in
your
location.
C
So
we're
always
looking
for
new
positions
for
our
youth
to
be
able
to
get
gain
some
experience
and
skills
that
then
later
on
and
in
many
cases
tom
they've
actually
stayed
on
later.
They've
had
a
great
relationship
with
the
business
and
the
business
is
happy
and
they
go
on.
So
it's
great
to
be
a
partner
in
all
this.
In
conjunction
in
a
week
or
two
tonight
june
9th
and
a
couple
of
weeks,
we
will
be
hosting
the
carnival
again
in
chelsea,
and
that,
of
course,
is
our
major
fundraiser
for
this
program.
D
A
A
A
A
So
our
youth
have
been
instrumental
in
helping
recruit
these
600
youth
to
apply
they've
been
out
on
the
street.
You
may
have
seen
them
with
posters
with
flyers
signing
up
families
to
get
their
their
children
involved
really
quickly.
This
summer,
I'm
so
pleased
to
announce
that
we're
going
to
have
youth
working
on
community
outreach
and
engagement
right
here
in
city
hall.
A
A
Our
youth
are
going
to
be
hosting
a
free
soccer
and
art
camp
for
75
children
this
summer,
so
they're
basically
becoming
camp
counselors.
This
program
is
called
soccer
without
borders.
A
We
have
a
stem
program
looking
at
engineering
they're,
going
to
be
working
with
the
harvard
natural
history
museum
to
create
meaningful
projects
that
look
at
housing
conditions
here
in
the
community,
working
on
arts
and
culture,
photography
and
graphic
design
and
and
the
junior
police
academy,
as
well
so
working
with
our
police
department
to
train
youth.
A
A
So
feel
free
to
call
the
collaborative
for
more
information.
If
you
need
it,
but
we
will
be
publishing
on
may
23rd
monday,
all
of
the
winners
of
the
lottery,
so
I
think
we're
ready
for
our
first
drawings
and
you
guys
would
like
to
take
a
few
and
then
we
can
take
over
from
there
because
it's
going
to
be
a
while.
A
These
are
our
14
and
15
year
olds
we
had
a
huge
amount
of
14
to
15
year
olds,
apply
we're
going
to
be
hiring
approximately
100
of
them.
A
A
E
A
A
A
D
A
E
B
C
C
C
B
A
A
E
E
A
A
A
So
we're
here
at
the
syei
2022
lottery,
we're
going
to
have
over
20
different
partner
site
placements
this
summer,
all
around
the
community,
thanks
to
our
amazing
community
partners
and
over
215
youth
working
with
us
this
summer,
which
is
the
biggest
number
we've
had
in
several
years.
Thanks
to
fundraising
efforts
and
coordinating
with
our
city,
yes,
70.
E
A
So
that
concludes
the
14
and
15
year
olds.
If
you
did
not
hear
your
name,
do
not
despair.
We
have
a
waitlist
going,
so
anybody
that
can
no
longer
work
or
doesn't
make
it
to
their
interview.
We
will
then
start
selecting
folks
from
the
waitlist
and
beyond
that
we
are
gonna,
have
a
job
fair
on
june
17th
for
other
folks
that
are
on
the
wait
list
or
didn't
make
it
and
for
syi
this
year
we're
gonna
have
a
lot
of
amazing
opportunities
available
to
you,
employers
that
take
16
plus
youth.
E
A
On
trying
to
get
some
age
15
and
up
opportunities
as
well
for
our
waitlisted
youth,
but
again
these
are
14
and
15
year
olds
that
are
going
to
be
working
with
us
this
summer,
we're
so
thrilled
to
have
them
here,
yeah
ileana.
Could
you
help
me
take
the
these
ones
and
then
we're
going
to
actually
move
on
to
the
tier
2
group.
A
A
Yeah
so
that'll
be
just
like
a
we'll
double
check
names
numbers
again,
thank
you
for
everybody
that
has
been
that
applied
to
sya
this
year
we
had
600
applications,
so
600
youth
that
are
looking
for
a
summer
job.
We
always
ask
them.
A
Why
are
you
applying
for
a
summer
job
and
a
lot
of
them
are
saying
I
wanted
to
help
pay
bills,
so
those
are
14
year
olds,
thinking
about
mom,
really
adult
pressures
in
their
lives,
thinking
about
their
mom,
their
dad
their
little
siblings,
how
they
can
put
food
on
the
table
for
their
family.
So
it's
a
very
serious
thing
and
we
are
honoring
the
responsibility,
those
youth
have
by
giving
them
a
job
that
will
give
them
a
future.
A
That's
not
just
you
know
a
dead
end
job,
but
a
job
that
really
will
help
them
create
a
career
path
for
themselves.
A
A
All
right
we
haven't
stopped
put
these
over
here.
These
are
the
ones
because
I'm
just
setting
them
on
the
table
over
there.
Okay,
we're
going
to
continue
with
tier
2..
These
are
our
16
and
17
year
olds.
A
A
A
This
summer,
we
will
be
also
providing
some
extra
services
for
our
youth.
We
are
going
to
be
having
a
weekly
mental
health
group.
A
Workforce
readiness,
training,
youth
leadership,
skills,
development,
financial
literacy,
weekly
mental
health
sessions
and
wraparound
services
for
the
youth
that
do
our
program,
some
college
and
career
coaching
for
our
oldest
youth
and
trainings
in
preventing
dating
and
sexual
violence.
So
these
are
all
of
the
extra
things
that
go
into
making
syei
a
success.
This
is
some
of
the
work
behind
the
scenes
to
ensure
that
our
youth
are
successful
in
their
job
this
summer.
They
also
need
to
be
supported.
A
Have
their
emotional
and
mental
health
needs
taken
care
of
and
have
resources
to
help
them
guide
themselves
through
the
summer,
so
nosotros
extras
foreign.
A
Okay,
we're
gonna
choose
our
55
winners
of
the
16
and
17
year
old
categories.
Yes,.
A
A
D
D
A
A
We
have
for
them,
so
they
all
get
in,
which
is
great,
because
our
oldest
youth
are
the
closest
to
launching
out
into
the
world
and
going
on
their
career
and
we're
going
to
be
able
to
provide
some
great,
like
technical
training
for
them
again
we're
doing
some
college
and
career
coaching
with
them
this
summer,
so
really
setting
them
on
the
right
path
and
they
all
are
getting
in,
provided
they
pass
an
interview
and
bring
in
all
their
documents.
That's
really
important.
A
It's
not
automatic
unless
you
come
in
with
all
of
your
comfort
needed
documents
and
eligibility
requirements.
So
I'm
just
going
to
read
these
oven.
Thank
you
so
much
tonight,
garcia.
Thank
you,
yeah!
Please
give
it
to
one
of
them:
don't
don't
mix
if
possible.
Thank
you
and
I
have
a
box
here.
Okay,
so.
A
So
I
have
number
25
yampier
gerardo
human
melo.
A
A
And
sorry
these
are,
these
are
blank.
I'm
not
counting
anyone
out
number
18,
not
tron,.
