So
I
was
thinking
about
what
to
say
tonight
and
what
to
highlight
and
I
thought
about
the
work
that
our
team
did
over
the
last
seven
days.
Just
the
last
seven
days
and
I
wanted
to
give
you
a
quick
overview
which
I'm
sure
isn't
exclusive
of
everything.
But
this
is
what
we've
done
over
the
last
seven
days.

Of
my
younger
siblings
were
born
and
raised
in
East
Boston,
and
we
quickly
discovered
that
they
had
developed
asthma.
The
rest
of
my
family,
who
were
all
born
abroad,
didn't
understand
where
this
came
from.
No
one
had
ever
had
asthma
back
home,
but,
as
the
years
went
on,
we
came
to
learn
that
this
was
no
coincidence.
In
fact,
children
in
East,
Boston
and
Chelsea
are
three
to
four
times
more
likely
to
have
asthma
than
children
in
other
parts
of
Massachusetts.
Again.
This
was
no
coincidence.
F
This
reality
was
hard
for
me
to
reconcile
whether
we
like
it
or
not,
living
in
places
like
East,
Boston
and
Chelsea
can
take
its
toll
on
us,
but,
like
all
of
you,
I
love
this
community.
This
is
where
I
grew
up,
and
this
is
where
I
come
home,
and
so,
like
many
of
you
in
this
room,
I
chose
to
fight
back
against
these
injustices.
In
my
own
way,.
H
F
Thank
you
where,
over
the
last
few
years,
I've
had
the
distinct
pleasure
of
working
for
East
Boston
state
representative
Adrian
motto
a
champion
for
environmental
justice,
whose
family
history
is
steeped
in
environmental
activism.
I
currently
serve
as
his
chief
of
staff
and
in
the
past
several
years,
our
office
has
partnered
with
green
roots,
to
advance
through
credible
and
effective
legislative
advocacy
against
environmental
Injustice
and
inequality
from
initiatives
to
reform
the
energy
facility,
citing
board
to
fighting
the
construction
of
the
eversource
substation
and
to
helping
deliver
a
low-income
fear
for
MBTA
Riders.
H
F
In
fact,
in
my
time
as
a
staffer
at
the
Massachusetts
state
house,
I
have
come
to
learn
that
there
aren't
many
others
who
could
do
with
what
the
roots
does.
Green
Roots
has
bold
and
skilled
advocates
in
the
halls
of
power
capable
of
factuating,
structural
and
Lasting
change
through
legislative
action
and
advocacy.
F
The
green
Roots
is
also
deeply
grounded
and
rooted
in
community
empowering
and
uplifting
the
voices
of
working
people,
immigrants
and
people
of
color.
Wherever
decisions
are
made,
it's
not
often
that
you
find
organizations
or
individuals
that
can
do
both
and
it's
even
more
rare
to
find
individuals
or
organizations
that
can
do
both
well.
H
F
Is
why
it's
an
absolute
privilege
to
stand
before
you
today
as
the
board
member
of
green
Roots?
This
annual
fundraiser
is
a
testament
to
our
shared
commitment
to
environmental
justice
and
the
incredible
strides
we
have
made
as
a
community
to
fight
for
the
health
and
dignity
of
our
neighbors
through
cleaner
air,
sustainable
green
spaces
and
a
thriving
environment
for
all.
H
H
F
But
this
work
is
far
from
over
as
we
celebrate
these
victories.
We
must
remember
that
the
climate
crisis
is
here,
and
the
climate
crisis
demands
immediate
attention.
Green
Roots
will
continue
to
ensure
that
those
who
are
the
most
directly
impacted
by
the
climate
crisis
can
lead
and
remain
at.
The
center
of
conversations
calling
for
change
is.
H
F
H
F
To
the
leadership
team
and
the
staff
for
being
the
heart
of
green
Roots
operations
to
our
legislative
and
organizational
partners
for
helping
to
make
our
goals
a
reality,
and
to
my
esteemed
colleagues
on
the
board,
whose
technical,
expertise
and
wisdom
is
indispensable.
Thank
you
and
have
a
wonderful
evening.
H

A
I
Hello,
everybody
we're
Eco
and
we're
just
gonna
go
around
and
introduce
our
name.
So
my
name
is
Grendel
I'm,
17
years
old
and
I'm,
a
e-commerce.
D
I
I
Okay,
so
we're
just
gonna
have
Johanna
speaking
now,
she's
going
to
tell
us
a
little
bit
about
what
Eco
does
and
what
Eco
is.
I
I
Roots
and
what
we
do
is
we
kind
of
make
events
for
the
Youth
here
in
Chelsea,
and
we
really
focus
on
Youth
Empowerment
here
in
Chelsea.
One
of
our
recent
projects
that
we've
been
working
on
has
been
youth
spaces,
which
is
we're
trying
to
find
spaces
for
teenagers
to
also
be
around,
because
we
know
that
a
lot
of
parks
here
in
Chelsea
and
or
East
Boston,
our
water
little
children,
rather
than
put
our
older
kids.

Those
raising
their
hands
have
helped
the
construction
of
our
teaching
kitchen.
We're
helping
us
be
reactive
to
issues
that
affect
this
community,
like
the
lead,
paint
and
asbestos
that
we're
dealing
with.
Also
these
people
are
helping
us
plant
more
trees,
build
green
spaces
and
win
the
fight
perform
site.
D
D
G
We
encourage
support
of
any
kind.
Everyone's
budget
is
different
Abel.
We
would
love
to
invite
you
to
make
a
gift
that
feels
right
to
you,
because
first
people,
this
could
be
twenty
dollars.
Fifty
dollars
a
hundred
dollars,
but
for
some
of
you
who
may
have
the
means
consider
what
it
would
look
like
to
make
a
bigger
gift,
making
room
for
something
like
500,
a
thousand
two
thousand
even
more
right.
