A
Certainly,
our
situation
here
in
chelsea
has
dramatically
improved
since
the
height
of
the
pandemic
in
the
spring,
when
we
were
seeing
nightly
cases
in
the
high
70s,
but
we
still
have
case
counts
in
the
high
single
digits
teens
and
some
nights
even
in
the
low
20s.
So
we
have
a
lot
of
work
to
continue
to
do
before.
We
can
get
our
cases
down
to
an
average
of
less
than
four
cases
of
night
and
get
ourselves
out
of
the
red.
B
A
So
the
best
approach
we
can
take
is
to
continue
to
practice
those
good
habits
that
got
us
to
substantially
reduce
our
numbers
in
the
spring.
That
means
wearing
a
face
covering
or
mask
at
all
times
when
you
are
out
in
the
public,
maintaining
at
all
times
good
physical,
distancing
from
others
and
washing
your
hands
thoroughly
and
regularly.
Throughout
the
day,
these
simple
behaviors
have
proven
most
effective
in
substantially
reducing
the
spread
of
coping
19.
A
Also,
I
strongly
urge
everyone
to
avoid
any
kind
of
large
gatherings.
The
governor's
order
prohibits
any
large
indoor
gatherings
of
more
than
25
persons
and
prohibits
any
large
outdoor
gatherings
of
more
than
50
persons,
but
I
would
encourage
you
to
stay
away
from
any
kind
of
large
group
of
individuals
during
the
course
of
this
pandemic.
A
I
strongly
also
encourage
that
all
chelsea
residents
get
tested
the
governor's
stop.
The
spread
campaign
continues
to
provide
for
mobile
testing
here
in
the
city
of
chelsea
every
single
weekday.
There
are
typically
two
sites
where
mobile
testing
occurs
here
in
chelsea,
at
in
front
of
chelsea
city
hall
and
in
chelsea
square.
B
B
A
A
A
As
you
may
know,
the
city
is
scheduled
to
end
its
daily
food,
pop-up
pantries
next
friday
september,
the
11th
and
then
transition
to
our
food
debit
card
program.
We
do
expect
to
have
food
debit
cards
available
for
residents
by
the
middle
of
september,
but
if
any
of
these
dates
change,
we
will
notify
residents
well
in
advance.
A
A
Because
the
food
debit
card
program
was
over
subscribed,
we
will
have
a
lottery
for
those
who
submitted
an
application.
We
expect
that
more
than
half
of
the
families
who
apply
to
the
program
will
be
selected
in
the
lottery.
There
will
be
at
least
1800
families
that
receive
a
food
debit
card
from
the
city.
B
A
We
do
expect
that
the
lottery
will
take
place
sometime
next
week
in
the
second
week
of
september,
before
the
lottery
occurs.
All
those
who
applied
to
the
food
debit
card
program
and
met
the
qualifications
for
income
and
residency
will
receive
a
letter
in
the
mail
notifying
them
of
the
lottery
date
as
well
as
their
individual
lottery.
Number.
This
way
every
applicant
will
know
whether
or
not
they've
been
selected
as
soon
as
the
lottery
occurs.
A
A
In
addition
to
the
food
debit
card
program,
the
city
is
also
providing
support
to
small
businesses
in
the
city.
The
city
council
has
approved
one
million
dollars
in
assistance
for
our
restaurants
and
small
businesses
adversely
impacted
by
covert
19..
The
application
for
this
assistance
will
be
available
this
week
on
the
city's
website,
or
you
can
call
311-617-4600.
A
B
A
Finally,
I
do
want
to
remind
all
residents
that
the
city
really
needs
your
help
to
complete
the
2020
census.
So
far,
only
about
52
percent
of
chelsea
residents
have
responded
to
this
important
census.
There
is
just
one
month
left
to
complete
the
census
and
ensure
that
every
person
in
chelsea
is
counted.
The
deadline
for
the
census
is
september,
the
30th,
so
please
complete
the
census
as
soon
as
possible.
A
Census,
workers
with
a
census
taker
badge,
will
be
visiting
the
homes
of
all
those
who
have
not
yet
filled
out
the
census.
They
will
not
ask
questions
about
your
immigration
status.
If
you
don't
want
a
visit.
Please
do
the
census
yourself
by
visiting
my
2020
census.gov
today
or
you
can
stop
by
city
hall
for
assistance
filling
out
the
census.
