From YouTube: Recovery Celebration 2023
Description
City of Chelsea
A
B
D
I
just
want
to
thank
some
of
the
colleagues
The
Navigators
Bay
Cove,
the
Chelsea
Hub
Chelsea,
Police
Department
and,
of
course,
my
organization,
CAPIC
and
MGH.
Of
course,
sorry
we're
going
to
start
off
with
the
serenity
prayer
and
I'd
like
Dennis
Smith
took
him
up.
F
D
D
The
wraparound
Services
we
provide
are
getting
into
getting
the
individuals
into
detox
and
then
from
there
for
the
treatment
and,
ultimately
into
sober
homes.
We
help
with
rental
payment
for
a
couple
of
months.
Until
the
individual
gets
back
on
their
feet.
We
also
give
them
toiletries
clothing
and
we
give
them
gift
cards
as
well.
If
anyone
is
in
need,
we
have
some
brochures
on
our
table
and
also
you
can
reach
out
to
The
Navigators
Tim
is
always
in
and
around
the
city
of
Chelsea.
Thank
you.
G
Good
afternoon
everyone,
my
name,
is
Teresa
depietro
I
am
the
director
of
permanent
Supportive
Housing
Services
for
Bay
Club
Human
Services,
and
you
might
be
familiar
with
our
Chelsea
Commons.
We
actually
are
the
provider
of
that
offers,
harm
reduction
and
Case
Management
Services
Bay
Club
also
offers
an
array
of
substance
abuse,
Direct
Services.
We
have
a
detox,
the
Andrew
House
in
Boston,
some
you
might
be
familiar.
G
We
also
have
a
clinical
Center
Marisol
Center
for
Healing
and
then
there's
a
stabilization
IOP
program,
66
Canal
Street
that
actually
offers
the
methadone
maintenance
programs
and
then
ongoing
public
hearing
residential
programs.
They
have
immense
program
and
Somerville
in
two
locations:
one's
Highland
Ave
and
one
Summit
Ave,
and
then
they
also
have
a
co-occurring
for
women
called
the
new
day
in
Cambridge.
Bay
Club
also
has
two
shelters:
one
is
the
night
Center
that
you
might
be
familiar
with.
G
I
think
I've
talked
about
it
at
the
Hub
a
few
times,
and
also
the
condo
madeira's
drop-in
center
in
Washington
Street
I've
invited
Desiree
Rodriguez
to
give
a
little
bit
about
our
excuse
me,
our
harm
reduction
model
that
we
use
in
our
Housing
Trust
model.
In
all
of
our
permanent
Supportive
Housing
Programs.
C
C
So
it
says,
be:
cool
Human,
Services
mission
is
to
partner
with
people
to
overcome
challenges
and
realize
personal
potential,
so
Teresa
explained
about
all
the
services
that
we
offer
but
I'm
going
to
briefly
share
what
I
do
so
I
work
with
the
individuals
based
on
their
recovery.
I
do
groups
as
well
as
meeting
individuals
one-on-one,
getting
to
invite
others
into
the
community
center
and
share
about
their
story
of
sobriety
and
yeah.
That's
just
a
little
bit,
but
we
do
have
grocery
brochures
over
on
the
table.
C
If
you
want
to
know
a
little
bit
more
about
what
we
do
and
yeah
again,
thank
you
for
coming
to
an
event
like
this
having
any
part
of
somebody's
recovery
is
so
important.
So
thanks
again.
D
I
would
like
to
invite
Caesar
Cortez.
Please.
A
H
Everybody,
my
name
is
Caesar
and
I'm.
A
recovering
alcoholic
I'm
really
excited
to
be
here,
mainly
because
I
get
to
see
the
people
that
that
helped
me
out.
A
H
My
in
my
time
of
me,
you
know
guys
like
cap
people
that
work
for
catfish
trying
to
blanket
everybody's
names,
but
these
guys
are
the
people
that
I
would
call
time
and
time
again
it
wasn't
just
once
it
wasn't
just
twice:
I
think
I,
racked
up
maybe
15
times
where
I
was
I
need
of
help.
I
I
didn't
know
how
to
cope
with
my
alcoholism.
H
Excuse
me,
I,
didn't
know
how
to
cope
with
my
problems.
Therefore,
I
turned
to
alcohol,
but
with
with
a
lot
of
suggestions
from
from
these
guys
and
realizing
that
you
know,
we
have
I
I
want
to
touch
base
on
on
the
mental
health
aspect
of
this.
By
saying,
you
know
the
trauma
the
anxiety,
the
depression
instead
of
turning
to
a
drink,
I've
learned
through
especially
by
Leading
by
example,
Jason
and
Tim,
and
all
the
other
people
that
I've
met
throughout
I'm.
H
Sorry,
if
I
leave
somebody
out,
but
I've
learned
how
to
cope
with
my
depression,
anxiety
and
Trauma,
which
I
I
call
mental
health
issues
with
with
a
healthier
coping
skills.
You
know
I'm
in
AAA,
I
had
to
take
a
step
back
from
work
and
enter
one
of
the
the
detoxes
and
sober
living
housing
faces
that
that
are
throughout
Boston.
That's
one
thing:
I
really
love
about
about
Massachusetts
is
there's
a
lot
of
help
out
here,
and
all
it
takes
is
for
somebody
to
raise
their
hand.
H
I
didn't
want
to
I
was
too
proud
and
but
but
drinking
became
made,
my
life
very
unmanageable,
and
it
led
me
to
to
finally
surrender
and
say
I
need
help.
So
if
there's
anybody
out
there,
that's
sick
and
suffering
or
or
has
any
questions,
feel
free
to
come
up
to
me
and
ask
me
and
I
want
to
again
thanks
everybody
for
putting
this
on
today.
I
So
before
I
begin
I'd
like
to
thank
people
that
aren't
here
today,
but
if
it
wasn't
for
them
back
in
2013-14,
we
probably
wouldn't
be
here
today
and
I
want
to
recognize
Rayna
McMahon
who's
in
recovery
and
she's
on
maternity
leave,
because
she
has
a
wonderful,
beautiful
family
she's,
a
prime
example
of
how
lives
can
be
turned
around
and
I
was
very
happy
to
meet
Dennis
Smith
earlier
today,
I
mean
very,
very,
very
nice,
so
the
the
you
know,
I
was
asked
to
talk
a
little
bit
about
the
Hub
and
what
that
means.
I
It's
going
to
take
him
a
few
minutes
to
explain
it,
but
I
think
the
best
way
to
explain
the
Hub
is
when
somebody
a
community
resident
lifetime
community
resident,
you
know
Stacy
his
daughter
who
knows
who
I
am
says
dan.
You
got
to
help
me.
We
we
we
got
to
find
housing
for
my
dad.
We
he
needs
this.
He
needs
that
and
then
I'm
able
to
turn
around
and
reach
out
to
Teresa,
depietro
and
say
Teresa.
What
can
we
do
here?
I'm
able
to
turn
around
and
reach
out
to
Gladys
and
cabbage?
I
What
can
we
do
here?
Tim
and
Jason
The
Navigators,
so
you
start
to
see
that
there's
a
hub,
The
Hub
is
like
a
you
know:
the
Hub
of
a
wheel
and
the
spokes
are
the
police
department,
the
hospital
MGH
they
co-capic
Navigators,
we're
all
working
together
to
make
sure
that
people
that
are
at
risk
are
helped,
and
that's
what
it's
all
about
it's
about
changing,
not
only
the
way
the
the
city
looks,
but
the
way
that
people
feel
we
believe
in
community
safety
and
well-being.
I
We
believe
that
a
community
that
is
safe
is
well
in
their
community
that,
as
well,
is
safe.
That's
what
it's
all
about,
so
I
also
would
like
to
thank
for
those
of
you
Old-Timers.
If
you
remember
Reuben
Rodriguez,
so
Reuben
Rodriguez
Reina
approached
me
and
said:
Dan
we
got
to
do
something
positive.
We
got
to
do
like
a
remembrance,
so
that's
how
the
vigil
and
the
and
the
the
the
celebration
what
we're
doing
today
started
eight
years
ago.
I
I
never
would
have
thought
that
would
have
been
possible
on
Chelsea,
but
it
is
so
as
it
progressed.
Catholic
wraparound
Services
came
to
be,
and
in
Gladys
are
taking
a
huge
role
in
this,
and
then
we
were
able
to
take
advantage
of
our
great
friend,
Jen
Kelly
at
MGH,
and
then,
if
it
was
and
I
mentioned
that,
because
if
it's
not
for
Jen
we're
not
here
today.
So
how
about
everybody?
I
A
big
round
of
applause
for
Jen
and
also
for
Gladys
too
I,
also
want
to
recognize
The
Navigators
they
which,
what,
which
is
what
Reuben
was
The
Navigators,
are
like
the
trunk
of
a
tree.
If
it's
not
for
The,
Navigators
being
strong
and
solid,
the
branches
are
never
going
to
grow,
and
so
a
big
round
of
applause
for
Tim
and
Jason.
I
And
yeah
we
both
have
the
same
last
name
Cortez.
So
that's
my
little
brother
sees
it
that
just
spoke
and
when
I
got
hired
at
MGH,
they
said
you
don't
have
a
background
in
substance,
abuse
and
I
said
yeah,
but
I
have
a
I,
have
a
history
with
it,
so
we
actually
plucked
Caesar
from
Arizona
to
come
here,
because
I
knew
this
was
the
best
place
to
be.
I
I
At
this
time,
I'd
like
to
invite
our
chief
Chief
Keith
Oden
who's,
a
huge
believer
in
the
hub,
so
much
so
that
in
all
he
does,
he
come
to
the
meetings,
but
he
drives
us
to
our
door,
knocks
so
everybody,
a
big
round
of
applause
for
Chief
Keith.
J
Good
evening,
everybody
again,
chief
chief
open,
been
the
chief
here
about
a
year
and
I
won
many
hats
in
my
38
years.
I,
don't
know
what
Dennis
Smith
is.
We
just
spoke.
We
I
think
Chase
Dennis
around
back
in
the
80s
and
look
how
look
how
far
we've
come.
Dennis
both
of
us
we're
doing
well
so
I
just
want
to
just
thank
Catholic
bay,
Cove
The,
Navigators,
The,
Hub
I,
see
it
firsthand
I
wore
many
hats
in
this
department,
mostly
in
investigations.
J
I
was
never
like
on
the
ground
level
and
what
I
see
like
it's?
Tough
love,
love.
It's
tenacity,
it's
Relentless
follow-up!
You
don't
realize
how
many
times
they
go
out
to
reach
out
to
the
same
person
who
falls
and
things
they're
failing
and
they
never
quit
on
them,
which
is
amazing
and
Jason
and
I
were
just
talking
how
we're
so
far
ahead
of
other
communities,
and
that's
why
everybody
comes
to
see
Dan
about
The
Hub.
They
always
want
to
reach
out
to
capikawa
or
organization.
Organizations
have
always
worked
well
together.
J
Now,
working
with
Bay
Cove
up
the
street
across
the
street
here
and
knowing
the
different
elements
and
like
whose
role
is
what
but
the
big
role
is
we're
the
24-hour
response
and
you
have
at
the
pop
and
that
cares
that
will
reach
out
to
the
right
people
to
get
those
people
into
recovery
and
get
them
on
a
path
to
help
and
happiness.
So
that's
what
I'm
here
to
make
sure
and
I
pledge
that
apartment
we'll
continue
on
doing
that.
So
thank
you.
K
We
work
for
not
Suffolk
Community
Services
I
I've
been
doing
Outreach
in
the
city
of
Chelsea
for
about
17
years
now
and
once
for
another
organization,
I
won't
be
spoken,
but
I
work
for
North
Suffolk
now
and
the
work
that
we
do
is
important.
We
provide
Substance,
Abuse
and
Mental
Health
Services
to
the
residents
of
the
city
of
Chelsea,
but
there's
no
way
that
Tim
and
myself
can
do
this
work
by
ourselves.
K
We
have
amazing
Community
Partners.
We
have
help
from
the
Chelsea
Police
Department,
the
fire
department,
City
councilors,
all
the
non-profits
that
you
see
here
with
the
table
set
up
because
we're
not
going
to
be
able
to
do
this
by
ourselves.
We're
only
good
we're
only
as
good
as
our
Community
Partners
I'm,
also
a
resident
in
the
city
of
Chelsea,
I,
I
love.
K
This
city
I
chose
to
live
here
because
I
see
all
the
hard
work,
that's
being
done
in
the
community,
how
everyone
comes
together,
so
I'm,
gonna,
I'm,
gonna
turn
it
over
to
Tim
he's
going
to
explain
some
of
the
services
that
we
do
here,
but
I'll
tell
you
right
now
having
this
gentleman
work
with
me
on
a
daily
basis.
Not
for
me
with
me
is
like
having
10
employees
in
one
he's.
Absolutely
amazing
and
I
hope
that
we
can
continue
to
keep
doing
this
work
serving
this
community
for
the
upcoming
future.
K
L
Yeah
something's
used
disorder.
You
know
it
affects
everybody,
it
affects
us
or
our
family
members,
people
that
we
know
our
neighbors
and
there's
definitely
help
out
there
for
anybody.
So
anybody
needs
help.
Please
reach
out
we're
driving
around
the
city.
You
know
every
day
you
know
five
six,
seven
days
a
week
all
the
time
so
please
reach
out.
We
can
get
people
into
detox,
we
can
get
them
into
programs,
refer
them
to
Catholic
for
sober
living,
refer
them
to
vehicle
for
their
housing.
We
help
out
in
court.
L
So
you
know
we
help
we
help
with
that.
We
make
sure
you
know
the
families
can
come
to
us
and
work
with
us.
You
know
that
don't
know
the
services
that
are
out
there.
We
can
kind
of
walk
them
through
the
process
and
give
them
support
after
the
detox
and
the
different
programs
and
everything
we
stay
with
the
people
we'll
take
them
to
AAA
meetings,
we'll
take
them
to
NA
meetings.
If
they
just
need
to
talk,
we'll
try
to
connect
them
to
you
know
anything
they
need.
We
try
to
provide.
L
You
know
that's
about
it.
Please
like
if
you
need
anything,
please.
If
you
see
me
in
the
city,
please
come
up
to
me:
I'm,
a
pretty
nice
person,
I
think
so
just
come
up
and
talk,
you
know,
that's
it!
That's
all.
I
have.
C
I
I
So
even
though
he's
not
here,
can
we
give
Leo
a
big
round
of
applause
for
supporting
the
work
that
we
do
he's
the
one
that
approached
this,
the
city
J
yeah
Jay
at
the
time
to
get
the
wraparound
Services
going
so
the
wraparound
services
and
the
and
the
Navigator
program
are
funded
by
the
city
on
behalf
of
the
city
council
and
now
the
the
new
wave
of
City
Council
Members
I
like
to
recognize
Jesus
who's
with
us
today,
because
this
is
important
for
her.
I
We
at
one
point
were
not
looked
at
very
favorably
now.
Cities
from
all
over
the
country
call
us
and
ask
us
if
they
could
do
what
we're
doing
here,
if
they
could
replicate
the
work
that
we
do,
that
we
do
here.
In
other
words,
if
they
could
be
like
little
Chelsea
Massachusetts.
So
a
big
round
of
applause
for
you,
guys,
Indian
Gladys,.
D
Next
I'd
like
to
introduce
our
speaker,
another
speaker,
Dennis
Smith,
please
come
up.
E
Oh,
you
can't
hear
me:
I
just
want
to
be
thankful
for
all
the
people
who
supported
me
and
helped
me
out
and
brought
me
in
the
place
that
I
was
I
was
in
a
bad
place
now
I'm
in
a
better
place,
thanks
to
miss
Teresa,
this
Desiree
Miss
Wolverine.
Let's
carry
all
the
people
who
made
gold.
You
know
in
my
family
Sports
whether
he
expressed
my
daughter,
the
warden,
so
you
know
I
just
I
didn't
know
words
to
say,
but
thank
everybody.
Man
I'm
here
today,
you
know
I,
couldn't
wouldn't
even
have
been
here.
E
I
had
a
regular
hot
piece,
I
almost
died,
I
was
in
the
hospital
for
two
weeks.
You
know
and
that
I
came
to
talk.
They
bring
their
life
back
into
you.
My
kids
changed
me
around.
You
know
what
I'm

The
same
words
I
just
want
to
say.
Thank
you
to
everybody.
Thank

want
to
thank
everyone

stopping
by
please
help
yourselves
go
to
the
table.
Ask
questions
if
you
have
any.
We
all
know
someone
or
have
a
relative
that
has
suffered
through
substance.
Use,
may
have
some
mental
health

just
needs
a
helping
hand.
Please
have
them
Reach
Out

because
they
know
they
have

they
know
when
to

reach
us.

have
some
