A
B
To
your
community
program,
green
roots,
raíces
verdes,
today
we
are
going
to
talk
about
the
work
that
green
roots
is
doing,
and
what
is
the
purpose
of
this
organization?
We
have
as
a
guest
maria
belen
power.
How
nice
maría
belen
is
the
associate
director
of
gris
luz,
and
he
is
going
to
tell
us
about
the
work
that
they
are
doing,.
What
is
the
purpose
and
what
activities
are
they
developing?
Welcome
to
maria
belen
news.
C
B
C
Scripts,
good
green
roots
is
a
community
organization
based
on
the
residents
of
chelsea.
We
work
on
the
issue
of
environmental
justice
and
quality
of
life
and
social
justice,
and
we
do
it
through
organizational
work:
organizing
the
community,
organizing
the
residents
developing
relationships
and
seeing
what
are
the
issues
that
affect
residents
the
most
in
order
to
involve
them
in
the
work
and
to
be
able
to
resolve
concerns
biggest
of
the
people
who.
B
C
Really
have
the
constant
work
that
is
to
develop
the
base,
and
we
do
that
through
one-on-one
meetings
through
celebrations
and
fun
events
and
really
other
more
difficult,
issues.
Seriously
right
now.
The
issue
of
public
transport
is
quite
hot,
because
the
transport
department
has
some
proposals
that
are
going
to
impact
the
trip
and
the
time
it
takes
people
to
get
to
work
and
also
the
quality
of
life
in
Chelsea.
So
we
have
public
transport.
C
The
river
access
in
the
city
is
doing
a
planning
process
to
change
the
chelsea
river
shoreline
and
that
process
is
going
to
start
and
we
want
the
residents
to
be
involved.
So
we
already
had
an
event
to
start
that
process,
but
there
are
going
to
be
constant
meetings
that
we
want
people
to
be
involved
in
the
planning
of
their
maribel
river.
B
And
I
would
like
to
go
deeper
ar
on
the
subject
of
public
transport
first,
because
I
am
a
resident
of
Chelsea
and
I
know
that
we
even
move
through
public
transport,,
for
example,
111,
one
of
the
most
used
routes
and
as
I
mentioned,
I
have
used
it
for
a
long
time,
and
there
is
a
lot
of
demand
for
this
on
this
bus.
Tell
us
what
are
the
activities
that
you
are
doing
as
green
route,
but
also,
what
are
the
projects
that
the
public
transport
department
is
bringing?
Yes.
C
As
you
said,
it
is
the
vast
majority
of
chelsea
residents
depend
on
public
transport.
Like
many
You
know,
we
have
more
than
40
thousand
people
living
in
1.8
square
miles
and
most
of
them
work
outside
the
city,
so
most
of
them
depend
on
the
buses
that
take
them
to
the
trains
in
Boston
on
route.
111,
like
you,
said,
super
busy.
C
It
's
the
third
most
used
route
in
Boston
the
whole
system
of
the
stake,
so
the
transportation
department
is
trying
to
really
improve
the
infrastructure,
but
it
has
impact
Maybe,
not
intentional,
or
maybe
they
didn't
really
think
about
the
impact
that
all
these
projects
are
going
to
have,.
So
the
three
projects
are
two
on
the
Tobin
Bridge,
one
is
the
rehabilitation
of
the
bridge,,
which
is
how
I
think
it
is
to
basically
paint
it,
and
then
the
second.
C
project
is
the
viaduct
of
the
bridge,,
which
are
the
pillars
under
the
bridge
that
are
going
to
compose
it
because
they
are
not
sure
and
the
third
project
on
the
bridge
on
the
north
washington
street
bridge
that
remains
in
charleston.
When
one
goes
on
the
111
down
from
the
tobin
bridge
and
then
it
passes
through
another
town,
so
it
is
the
second
bridge.
So
these
three
projects
are
going
to
impact
route
111
and
they
are
going
to
add
an
additional
45
minutes
to
the
route
from
chelsea
to
se
marca.
C
So
we
believe
it
is
a
fairly
significant
impact
that
requires
mitigation,
and
so
we
are
asking
for
several
things,,
several
of
which
have
already
been
promised,
and
two
of
the
things
that
have
not
been
promised
have
been.
The
network
Price
reduction
on
the
one
hand
and
then
other
ways
to
improve
the
route
or
make
it
faster,.
C
One
of
those
ways
could
be
to
dedicate
a
line
only
to
the
bus,
because
most
people
depend
on
public
transport,
and
there
are
many
people
who
go
on
a
bus
and
the
museum
should
be
able
to
not
be
able
to
move
in
a
faster
way
and
then
the
price
thing
we
think
people
in
chelsea
have
been
paying
the
same
price
for
a
low
quality
of
transport.
The
service
is
much
lower.
The
quality
is
much
lower
than
others,
cities
and
other
buses
and
other
trains,.
C
B
You,
Maria
Belén,
and
one
thing
I
want
to
mention
for
the
people
What
they
are
listening
to
us-
is
that
if
you
want
to
know
more
about
public
transport,
you
want
to
get
actively
involved.
You
can
visit
the
greenwoo
offices.
D
are
at
227
marginal
street
here
in
chelsea,
and
you
can
also
call
us
you
can
call
us
at
6
17
4
66,
30
76.
B
We
are
there
from
monday
to
thursday
and
feel
free
to
visit
us.
This
organization
is
for
the
community
and
good
They
are
welcome..
You
also
spoke
at
the
beginning
that
they
are
working
on.
The
city
is
working
on
a
development
plan
on
the
river
front.
That
is
making
a
green
route
to
participate
in
this
plan,,
because.
C
We
are
really
having
and
we
are
thinking
of
different
ways
to
involve
residents
In.
One
way
it
is
the
most
formal
way,,
which
is
that
Chelsea
residents
and
the
most
impacted
residents
who
live
near
the
river
are
on
the
committee,.
They
are
in
the
group
that
is
going
to
make
decisions
about
that.
Area.
C
Another
way
is
by
having
events
and
public
meetings,
assemblies
of
the
river
that
we
have
already
had
to
bring
attention
to
the
river
and
also
to
create
a
little
awareness
about
what
the
impacts
would
be
and
how
they
would
be
the
effects
of
any
planning
any
true
change
to
the
area.
So
if
it
turns,
instead
of
being
industrial,
that
it
turns
to
perhaps
residential
or
that
it
becomes
commercial,
it
can
have
positive
impacts
and
it
can
also
have
negative
impacts.
B
C
Do
look
at
the
young
man's
name
is
icon,
environment,
chelsea
organizers,
and
they
are
a
group
of
six
young
people.
Most
of
them
go
to
high
school
here
in
chelsea.
Right
now,
the
group
contains
one
person
who
doesn't
go
to
chelsea
high
school,
but
goes
to
another
school
and
they
work
all
year
with
us.
Others
work
from
Monday
to
Thursday
after
school
kim
between
10
and
15
hours
a
week.
They
arrive
from
school,
they
arrive
at
the
office
and
they
work
they
develop
their
own
plan,
organizing
the
youth.
C
One
is
the
empowerment
of
young
people,
the
other
is
civic
action
and
the
other
is
environmental
justice.
So,
within
those
three
issues,
they
look
for
ways
to
involve
youth,
be
it
possible
r,
the
planning
of
the
river
creating
more
green
spaces
and
dealing
with
different
issues.
The
issue
of
migration,
the
issue
of
tps,
many
of
the
young
people,
have
fathers
and
mothers
who
are
tps
years
old.
So
what
are
the
different
issues
that
affect
the
whole
life
of
young
people?
Not
just
the
schools,
but
all
aspects
of
life
and.
B
I
would
also
like
to
mention
that
the
young
people
in
the
attempt
to
see
the
river
they
have
had
an
annual
annual
youth
assembly
in
the
river,
and
it
was
very
successful.
Last
year
they
did
it
in
November
I
was
there
and
there
were
more
than
100
young
people
who
actively
participated
in
different
workshops.
B
That,,
although
there
were
in
the
organization-
and
it
was
nice,,
it
was
nice
to
see
the
participation
because
it
was
not
only
the
young
people
who
arrived
without
knowing
what
they
were
going
for,
but
it
was
also
a
assembly
that
was
created
organized
by
young
people
for
young
people
and
I.
Think
the
difference
is
noticeable
when
this
is
usually
organized
by
young
people.
When
there
are
adults
behind,.
The
activities
have
a
different
focus,
and
this
time
it
was
like
a
very
good
one.
C
I
think
it
will
be
approximately
the
same
time,,
maybe
November,
October,
they
have.
They
have
been
having
regular
meetings
after
the
assembly
in
november.
They
have
been
having
youth
meetings
to
engage
the
youth
who
went
to
the
assembly
through
regular
meetings.
I
think
it
has
been
every
month
or
two
trying
to
develop
that
active
youth
movement
in
the
city.
C
Good,
as
you
said
ours
well,
our
office
is
on
the
river
coast
on
the
marginal
street
between
the
two
bridges
near
the
salt
mountain.
Our
focus
right
now
is
the
nearby
neighborhood
from
the
river,
but
also
well,.
We
work
throughout
the
city
and
we
also
have
a
project
on
the
other
side
of
the
the
river
that
is
on
the
east
boston
side.
So
we
are
looking
at.
C
We
are
trying
to
see
the
river
in
a
complete
way,
]
that
the
two
sides
of
the
river
look
at
the
boston
side,
the
chase
side,
and
why
can't
we
pretend
that
it
What
happens
on
one
side
does
not
affect
the
other.
So
if
gentrification
or
eviction
or
displacement
of
people
comes
from
one
side,
it
will
impact
the
other
side,
because
these
communities
really
are
more
similar
than
one
thinks
mostly
immigrants,
mostly
Latinos,
mostly
from
low
income.
So
it
really
is
a
single
community
that
is
divided
by
the
chelsea
river.
C
So
we
work
in
that
area.
We
work
in
the
chelsea
area
of
,
the
riverfront
neighborhood,
but
also
really
throughout
the
city.
There
are
annual
events
that
we
have,
for
example,
on
the
day
of
the
land.
We
went
to
clean
up
the
whole
city
and
we
work
with
different
groups
around
the
community.
I
would
like.
B
To
add
to
the
information
you
gave
that
you
also
Even
when
I
was
talking
about
the
fact
that
Chelsea
and
Boston
have
many
similar
characteristics,.
Another
characteristic
is
that
the
use
of
the
river
coast
has
been
industrial,
and
these
populations
also
carry
the
environmental
burden
that
exists
in
these
communities,,
so
well,.
That
also
brings
many
problems,
and
is
there
also
where
you
as
an
organization,
are
doing
many
activities
to
minimize
that
impact
and
well
to
finish.
B
C
The
chelsea
work
is
a
corridor
that
is
a
little
path
that
is
left
on
broadway
between
broadway,
how
sweet
it
sa
and
the
chelsea
work
to
a
bar.
Then
a
little
path
that
is
not
really
doing,
I
think
I
believe
I
have
used
in
the
best
way
is
a
not
very
dangerous.
There
is
not
much
light
at
night.
There
are
many
people
drunk
and
many
people
under
the
influence
of
alcohol
and
other
As
drugs.
C
C
Preferable
that
it
be
done
on
a
page
or
in
a
link
on
the
internet
if
they
go
to
our
facebook,
page
green
roots
there
on
the
facebook
page,
one
of
the
first
things
that
will
going
out
is
going
to
be
this.
This
fundraising
campaign
is
called
pay
trains,
city
and
chelsea
the
same.
So
if
you
go
to
the
green
roots,
facebook
page,
you
can
go
to
that
page
and
then
donate
through
that
way,
or
else
You
can,.
You
can
give
money
to
the
organization
and
we
put
it
through
the
internet.
Well,.
B
B
C
Monthly
meetings,
every
second
thursday,
of
every
month,
our
members
meet
and
come
to
the
organization
to
talk
about
these
issues
that
affect
the
community
public
transportation,
the
river
community,
gardens
air
quality
health
problems,
any
issue
that
impacts
the
quality
of
life,
then
the
second
Thursday
of
each
month
in
our
office
is
227
of
the
marginal
and
at
6
pm
there
is
always
dinner
and
there
is
always
translation
into
English
and
Spanish
at
all.
Times.
ur
meetings
are
bilingual.
Thank.
B
You
thank
you
for
sharing
the
work
you
do
and
remember.
The
second
thursday
of
each
month
are
the
green
roots.
Member
meetings
at
6
pm.
There
is
child
care.
There
is
food.
There
is
interpretation.
We
are
at
227
margin
al
street
in
Chelsea,,
if
you
can't
make
it
that
day
but
want
to
know
more
about
the
organization,.
You
can
also
visit
us
from
Monday
to
Thursday
for
any
questions..
Finally,.
B
I
would
also
like
to
remind
you
of
the
number
where
you
can
call
us,,
which
is
6
17,
466,
30
76,
and
you
can
call
us
at
Any
time,
well,.
We
respond
with
office.
Hours.
I
want
to
tell
you
that
this
is
the
beginning
of
this
program.
We
will
continue
to
have
interesting
programs
about
the
work
we
are
doing,,
but
also
the
work
that
we
develop,
that
we
develop
with
allied
organizations
or
that
is
happening
in
Chelsea,,
so
stay
tuned.
thanks
for
tuning
in
hope.
You
have
a
nice
day.
