From YouTube: School Committee Meeting of 3-24-22
Description
City of Chelsea, Chelsea Public Schools
A
And
I
apologize,
I
cannot
figure
out
how
to
add
my
last
name
and
I
couldn't
figure
out
my
laptop
either
so.
B
Awesome,
so
I'm
calling
this
meeting
to
order
at
7
02
p.m.
Good
evening
it
is
march.
24Th
today
is
a
big
meeting.
We
are
voting
on
our
annual
budget,
so
thank
you
for
those
who
are
joining
us.
Thank
you
to
those
who
are
on
this
call
and
we
will
start
with
our
pledge
of
allegiance,
so
go
ahead
and
join
us,
and
you
unmute
yourselves
and
place
your
right
hand
over
your
heart
and
join
me
in
and
sing
in
the
play
pledge
of
allegiance.
B
F
B
Present
and
two
fs
and
thank
you
so
much
veronica,
I'm
quickly
checking
who
else
we
have
on
the
call
we
have
our
city
councilor,
tamara,
garcia.
So
thank
you
for
joining
us
city,
council
rep.
Do
we
have
any
of
our
students?
Oh
yes,
valerie
is
here.
Thank
you
so
much
our
student
reps
are
in
are
in
the
building
or
in
the
room.
Thank
you
for
joining
us
tonight.
Great.
So,
let's
get
started
team.
I
will.
G
Garcia,
I'm
having
difficulties
accessing
the
share
screen,
so
I
just
once
I
get
access
to
share
screen.
I
can
post
the
agenda
awesome.
B
Great,
and
so
the
next
thing
is
on
the
agenda,
for
those
who
are
not
can't
see,
the
agenda
is
the
reports
from
those
are
superintendent,
and
so
we'll
just
patiently
wait
for
dr
veda.
In
the
meantime,
I
invite
our
school
committee
members
to
share
any
words
on
women
history
month
for
a
quick
second,
if
they
want
to
edit
themselves
and
share
who
they
admire
during
this
month,
it's
an
important
month
are
there
any
members
feel
free
to
unmute
yourself
and
share.
H
I
definitely
would
love
to
highlight
katanji
brown
jackson's
confirmation
hearing
right
now.
It's
wonderful
to
see
more
black
women
represented
in
all
aspects
of
our
government,
whether
it
is
on
the
local
level,
all
the
way
up
to
the
federal
level,
and
I
hope
that
many
of
our
students
within
chelsea
public
schools
can
see
her
as
a
role
model
as
well.
B
I
Hello,
my
name
is
valerie
creaton.
I
had
the
opportunity
to
speak
with
some
juniors
and
they
shared
with
me
that
they
feel
a
little
bit
unprepared
to
be
seniors.
Next
year
they
came
into
high
school.
Their
freshman
year,
then
got
sent
home
due
to
covid,
then
came
back
to
being
a
junior
and
now
preparing
themselves
for
being
a
senior,
although
this
does
not
represent
how
all
juniors
feel.
I
believe
that
this
is
important
to
address.
I
can
imagine
that
some
sophomores
and
freshmen
probably
feel
the
same.
I
B
Valerie,
thank
you
so
much
for
sharing
junior's.
Good
luck.
You
got
this
and
before
you
know
you
will
be
seniors
so
get
ready,
enjoy
your
summers
finish
your
junior
year
and
and
best
of
luck.
I
know
that
you
have
a
whole
team
behind
you.
We
are
here
for
you
and,
and
you
can
count
on
us
first
of
all,
thank
you
so
much
valerie.
B
B
F
B
G
So
I
am
recommending
that
we
forego
school
choice
in
order
to
have
seats
for
chelsea
students
and
so
unforgoing
school
choice.
What
we're
saying
is
that
we
would
not
accept
students
from
out
of
district
and
that
we
will
only
accept
students
that
live
here
in
chelsea,
public
schools
and
all
of
our
seats
will
be
for
students
in
chelsea
public
schools.
G
B
F
E
B
G
Thank
you
so
much
tara,
garcia.
I
just
I
do
want
to
say
a
few
words
before
the
vote,
so
I
am
actually
really
pleased
to
present
for
your
consideration
the
budget
for
fiscal
year
2223.
G
G
As
a
direct
result
of
this
bill,
chelsea
public
schools
is
slated
to
receive
70
million
over
the
next
five
years,
so
this
budget
year
is
actually
year.
Two,
the
22
to
22
23
fiscal
budget,
reflects
the
second
year
of
implementation
of
this
bill,
with
chelsea
public
schools
receiving
just
over
9
million
as
a
result
of
the
student
opportunity
act.
We
are
grateful
for
all
who
have
advocated
for
this
bill
to
be
passed
and
the
chelsea
community
had
really
advocated
for
the
student
opportunity
bill.
G
G
B
Thanks
so
much
dr
baden
team,
I'd
like
to
open
it
up
before
we
go
on
for
vote.
If
there
are
any
questions
or
comments
on
this
year's
annual
budget
that
our
team
has
presented
to
us.
B
Any
questions
I'm
trying
to
check
the
the
screens
to
make
sure
I
don't
miss
any
hands
or
questions.
K
I
have
a,
I
have
a
question:
you
have
this
floor.
Yeah
just
wanted
to
know
like
this
is
just
presented
to
us
without
having
the
the
chapter
70
from
the
states
money,
and
then
that
will
be
amended
right
once
we
receive
it.
This
is
just
a
projection
for
the
next
fiscal
year.
B
And
in
front
of
you,
you
see
each
action
line
item
and
so,
dr
beta,
do
you
mind
scrolling
down?
Thank
you.
B
Explanation,
the
annual
school
budget
must
be
approved
by

E
F
E
B
E
F
B
E
F
E
B
Seven
in
the
informative
motion
carries
already
team
that
wraps
up
our
meeting.
We
have
a
few
communications
announcements
and
so
before,
I'd
like
to
open
it
up
to
the
team,
I'd
like
for
us
to
all,
please
do
keep
our
student,
who
was
hit
in
a
car
accident
or
by
a
car
today
at
the
crosswalk
in
our
prayers,
and
so
our
prayers
are
with
the
family
and
for
all
of
our
students
across
the
district.
B
B
B
Anyone
I
have
a
quick
announcement,
team
and
families
who
are
home
watching
us.
We
are
hosting
our
annual
easter
basket
distribution
on
april
14th,
and
so
we
are
super
excited
to
spread
joy
in
the
city
of
chelsea
around
this
time.
Easter
is
around
the
corner,
and
so
is
the
spring
time.
So
we
are
super
excited
to
host
that
event
and
hope
that
you
all
can
can
join
us
already.
Take
any
other
comments
or
questions.
G
G
B
L
I'm
sorry
I
just
wanted
to
add
because
of
the
vaccination
clinic
and
everything
I
just
wanted
to
add
quickly
to
just
be
really
vigilant,
remind
everybody
to
be
really
vigilant
about
symptoms
of
covid,
because
I
contracted
it
and
I
gave
it
to
my
102
year
old
grandmother
and
which
is
really
really
scary
and
I
did
feel
like
I
had
a
little
cold
and
I
did
not
test
myself
when
I
should
have,
and
I
had
not
been
wearing
a
mask
for
two
weeks.
L
So
it's
a
lot
more
communicable
than
it
had
been
prior
and
I
just
want
to
remind
everybody,
I'm
not
advocating
for
or
against
masks.
But
if
you
feel
like
you
are
possibly
at
all
sick,
I
would
encourage
you
to
take
a
test.
If
you
have
and
chelsea
has
been
giving
out
those
home
tests,
we
have
them.
L
So
I
encourage
everybody
to
really
just
take
note
and
protect
the
people
around
you
people,
you
know
people,
you
don't
know,
because
it's
really
really
really
scary
and
you
don't
want
to
be
in
a
position
of
having
gotten
somebody
sick.
So
that's
my
psa
and
thank
you.
I'm
yeah.
B
A
team
to
go
quickly
back
to
my
original
question,
of
which,
who
is
the
woman
that
you
identify
or
I'm
sorry
that
you
admire
during
this
month,
my
mom,
my
mom
is
the
strongest
lady
out
there
that
I
know
she
is
my
best
friend
and
I
aspire
to
be
a
strong
resilient
woman
like
her
as
I
get
older.
So
I'd
like
to
open
it
up
to
the
team
feel
free
to
share
any
comments
or
any
highlights
for
for
this
month.
L
I
I
know
I
just
spoke,
but
I
would
like
this
again
and
I
actually
didn't
hear
that
at
the
beginning,
because
I
was
helping
my
grandmother,
but
speaking
of
grandma,
as
I
said,
she's
102.
there
she
is,
everybody
can
see
her
wait.
Grandma
wave.
L
Anyway,
she
can't
really
see
you
guys,
but
she's
adorable
he's
so
with
it
she's
she
can't
hear,
particularly,
but
so
with
it,
and
just
sharp,
sharp,
sharp
and.
L
And
she
got
dressed
she
even
put
on
her
bra,
which
I
can't
I
cannot
imagine,
but
so
there's
just
a
lot
a
lot
to
be
said
for
that
being
a
strong,
strong,
human
being
a
strong
woman.
So
that's
who
I'm
celebrating
thank
you.
J
J
She
is
like,
I
can't
imagine,
being
102
and
being
that
strong,
but,
like
my
mom
used
to
say
they
don't
make
them
like
that
anymore.
We
would
never
survive
like
we
would
never
survive.
We
don't
have.
We
don't
have
the
strength
that
they
had.
They
were.
They
were
in
a
different
era.
They
were
so
resilient,
so
naomi
god
bless
her,
take
care
of
her
and
and
enjoy
every
minute
you
have
with
her
she's
amazing.
J
My
grandmom
died
at
90
and
she
was
so
strong
and
went
through
so
much
and
and
my
mom
the
same,
but
they
don't
make
them
like
that
anymore,
so
enjoy
her.
B
Can
I
also
highlight
that
our
school
committee
is
majora,
has
the
we
are
majority
women
and
so
applaud
and
snaps
to
us
all
the
love
we
are
and
sean
shout
out
to
you
currently,
the
only
man
of
on
this
call.
It's
you
and
roberto.
B
We,
I
admire
all
the
women
on
this
board,
and
I
could
not
do
this
without
the
support
that
each
and
every
one
of
you
provide
shout
out
to
ami
who
came
in
during
a
pandemic
to
lead
a
school
district.
I
mean
my
hat
goes
off
to
you
monica
christine,
and
the
list
goes
on
veronica.
Thank
you
for
all
that
you
do
for
us,
it
does
not.
Your
work
does
not
go
unseen.
B
You
take
notes
and
all
of
our
meetings
make
sure
that
we
have
all
the
things
that
we
need
to
run
these
productive
meetings
and
get
everything
that
we
need
to
be
able
to
vote
on
policy
and
and
again
the
list
goes
on,
and
so
thank
you,
alrighty
team.
With
that,
I
make
a
motion
to
adjourn
tonight's
meeting.
