To mitigate any potential disasters from occurring at a food truck event, Clearwater Fire & Rescue has created a single standardized inspection form that is used on all food trucks. Watch this video to learn more.
A
A
man,
name
of
Charles
Goodnight,
created
the
Chuck
Wagon.
It's
a
way
to
feed
ranchers
out
on
the
Texas
plants,
but
what
we
consider
to
be
the
origin
of
today's
modern
food
truck
is
the
Oscar
Meyer
Wienermobile
created
in
1936..
This
food
truck
would
drive
across
the
country
to
random
cities
and
serve
hot
dogs
to
the
community.
A
While
variations
of
food
trucks
were
popping
up
all
across
America,
it
wasn't
until
the
Great
Recession
of
the
2000s
that
the
food
truck
would
finally
take
a
firm
hold
as
a
new,
modern
and
Innovative
way
to
dine
with
the
help
of
social
media.
Customers
could
provide
reviews
with
instant
feedback
and
they
drove
the
food
truck
industry
to
Greater
Heights
themselves,
as
with
new
technologies
and
Innovations.
A
Here
in
Clearwater,
as
an
attempt
to
mitigate
any
potential
disasters
from
occurring
at
a
food
truck
event,
we
have
created
a
single
standardized
inspection
form
that
we
use
on
all
food
trucks
we
inspect.
We
want
to
provide
the
highest
level
of
safety
for
our
customers
and
the
food
truck
staff,
so
we
strictly
adhere
to
the
Florida
fire
prevention
code,
which
has
adopted
nfpa1
chapter
50
as
the
codes
and
standards
to
which
food
trucks
are
to
be
inspected.
A
But
instead
of
trying
to
explain
what
each
line
item
means,
let's
go
watch
an
inspection
for
ourselves
and
here's
our
inspector
now
hi
Paul.
To
begin
the
inspection.
Paul
will
gather
some
pertinent
information
about
the
food
truck,
such
as
the
owner's
information
license
plate
permit
number
and
the
address
for
the
food
truck
will
be
stored,
Paul
Begins
the
inspection
on
the
exterior
of
the
vehicle
and
is
now
focusing
on
the
propane
tanks
to
make
sure
they
are
securely
fastened
and
that
a
system
shut
off
valve
is
accessible.
A
A
Next
Paul
is
moving
to
the
cooking
area
where
he
will
inspect
the
hood
and
the
suppression
system,
making
sure
there
is
no
grease,
buildup
and
proper
positioning
of
the
nozzle.
There
should
also
be
a
manual
shutoff
valve
that
activates
the
suppression
system
and
cuts
off
the
gas
supply
notice.
The
attached
inspection
tag,
both
the
activation
handle
and
the
hood
suppression
system
must
have
current
annual
inspection
tax.
A
While
it
is
the
owner's
responsibility
and
good
practice
to
clean
the
exhaust
grates
as
frequently
as
possible,
the
complete
Hood
system
and
all
its
components
must
be
maintained
by
a
certified
commercial
hood
cleaning
company
who
will
then
Place
their
sticker
of
completion
on
the
side
of
the
hood.
Paul
also
notes
the
presence
of
a
carbon
monoxide
detector
as
a
key
safety
feature.
That's
required
thumbs
up
must
mean
it's
good.
Another
big
component
of
the
kitchen
area
we
inspect
is
how
the
appliances
are
piped
into
the
gas
line.
A
Here
in
Clearwater,
we
pride
ourselves
on
providing
the
best
experiences
to
the
public
we
serve
and
that
life
safety
is
our
number
one
concerns
in
all
aspects,
regardless
of
building
type.
Our
mobile
food
truck

this,

us
