From YouTube: Clearwater Police/FOP Fallen Officer Memorial
Description
The Clearwater Police Department and FOP Lodge 10 remember the city’s four fallen officers.
A
Good
morning,
everyone
welcome
to
the
42nd
annual
Fallen
officer
memorial
service.
My
name
is
Officer
Brian,
Hoxie
and
I
have
the
honor
and
privilege
of
serving
the
Fraternal
Order
of
Police
Lodge
10
as
our
lodge
chaplain,
and
also
the
police
department,
as
our
department
chaplain,
and
it's
my
honor
to
welcome
you
here
today.
A
A
A
Families
of
our
fallen
on
behalf
of
the
Fraternal
Order
of
Police
Lodge
10,
the
Clearwater
Police
Department,
as
well
as
the
city
of
Clearwater
and
its
residents
I,
want
to
take
this
opportunity
right
here
and
right
now,
at
the
onset
of
our
time
together
to
express
our
utmost
gratitude
for
each
of
you.
Not
only
did
your
officer
sacrifice
for
this
city
and
Nation,
but
you
you
yourselves,
have
sacrificed
for
us.
A
A
Thank
you.
Would
you
guys
stay,
please
stand
stay,
standing
and
bow
your
heads
with
me
as
we
go
to
the
Lord
in
prayer
asking
his
Blessing
over
our
time
together
today,
dear
heavenly
father,
we
just
we
bound
your
presence
thankful
for
today
that
you've
allowed
us
to
come
together
safely
that
you've.
Given
us
this
amazing
weather.
Thank
you
for
the
breeze
first
and
foremost
there
God.
A
We
just
thank
you
for
this
opportunity
that
we
get
to
honor
and
remember
those
who
have
paid
the
ultimate
sacrifice
for
our
freedom
and
for
our
protection
God
during
our
time
together.
Help
us
to
honor
them
well,
but,
most
importantly,
help
us
to
give
glory
to
you
in
and
through
that
God.
It's
our
prayer
in
Jesus
name,
amen,
amen.
Please
stay
standing
and
give
your
attention
to
the
Clearwater
Police
Department
honor
guard
as
they
advance
honor.

H
Thank
you
good
morning
and
thank
you
for
allowing
me
the
privilege
of
being
with
you
during
this
solemn
occasion,
As
We
Gather,
to
remember
our
fallen
officers
on
this
day.
We
recognize
their
service
and
the
service
of
those
today
who
follow
in
their
footsteps,
brave
men
and
women
who
swear
to
uphold
an
oath
and
keep
our
residents
safe.
Today
is
law
enforcement,
Appreciation
Day
in
Clearwater,
as
proclaimed
by
our
city
council.
We
deeply
appreciate
our
fallen
officers,
who
gave
all
for
a
higher
calling,
and
we
appreciate
those
who
do
the
job
today.
H
61
years
ago,
President
John
F
Kennedy
proclaimed
May
15th
as
Peace
Officers,
Memorial
Day
and
the
week
in
which
that
date
Falls
as
Police
Week,
some
of
our
officers
traveled
to
Tallahassee
recently
to
pay
their
respects
to
our
fallen
and
other
officers
across
Florida
who
were
killed
in
the
line
of
duty.
In
a
couple
of
days.
More
of
our
officers
will
travel
to
our
nation's
capital
to
do
the
same.
H
H
We
pay
our
respects
to
the
families
who've
joined
us
today
and
share
our
deepest
condolences
for
the
burden
of
loss
you
had
to
carry
I
would
encourage
everyone
to
never
forget
those
names
and
to
always
honor
and
respect
those
who
serve
in
the
law
enforcement
profession
today
and
for
the
next
few
days.
I
would
challenge
you
to
wear
blue
in
support
of
law
enforcement
and
to
light
up
your
houses
and
businesses
in
blue.
If
you
see
a
police
officer,
thank
him
or
her
for
their
service,
give
that
officer
a
hug
tell
them.
H
You
are
thinking
of
them
in
their
everyday
duties.
It
doesn't
have
to
be
just
today
or
in
the
coming
week.
They
could
use
the
support
and
appreciation
every
single
day
they
have
one
of
the
toughest
jobs
I
could
ever
imagine,
and
we
are
forever
grateful
for
their
service
to
the
families
of
our
fallen.
We
stand
with
you
today,
paying
tribute
to
Your
Heroes
and
to
Our
Heroes.
They
will
never
be
forgotten,
may
they
continue
to
rest
in
peace.
May
God
continue
to
provide
you
comfort.
A
Thank
you,
Mr
OLX,
our
second
speaker.
She
has
not
been
at
the
helm
of
our
city
staff
for
very
long,
but
in
the
short
amount
of
time
that
she
has
been
I,
can
tell
you
firsthand
experience.
She's
been
nothing
short
of
a
blessing
for
us,
especially
here
at
the
police
department.
We
feel
her
support
even
we're
glad
to
have
it
even
today.
So
please
help
me
to
welcome
our
city
manager,
Miss,
Jen,
poyer,.
I
I
The
brothers
and
sisters
who
served
today
do
so
with
the
washable
Spirit
of
our
fallen
officers.
Looking
after
their
safety,
they
all
mourn
their
loss
every
day
and
always
that
family
extends
beyond
the
police
department.
We,
as
a
city
gather
here
today
and
pay
our
respects
to
your
loved
ones
and
to
you,
when
you
work
for
the
city
of
Clearwater,
we
think
of
ourselves.
As
one
team
we
work
together,
we
serve
together.
We
celebrate
our
successes
together.
Sometimes
we
bicker
like
family
we've
mourned
together,
we
grieve
together,
and
we
remember
together.
I
I
All
city
jobs
are
difficult
and
their
own
way
and
police
work
certainly
has
its
challenges.
The
officers
we
remember
today
did
their
job.
They
performed
their
Duty
with
bravery
and
distinction.
They
never
stop
to
think
twice
about
their
own
safety
and
that
fearlessness
and
the
face
of
adversity
and
their
willingness
to
protect
those
who
could
not
protect
themselves
is
what
cost
them
their
lives.
I
A
Thank
you
so
much
Mrs
poyer,
her
daughter,
I,
don't
know
if
she
would
like
me
to
share
this,
but
her
daughter's,
considering
a
future
in
law
enforcement.
So
today,
I
hope
is
a
rather
impactful
day
for
you
as
well,
and
it's
very
close
to
home
our
next
speaker.
It's
a
Bittersweet
to
introduce
him
because
he
is.
This
will
be
the
last
Memorial
that
he
will
do
with
the
three
stars
that
he
has
on
his
shoulders
and
in
introducing
him.
A
I
just
want
to
say
how
grateful
I
am
personally
for
our
chief
of
police
for
his
commitment
to
our
officers
and
for
his
commitment
to
the
family
of
our
fallen.
This
this.
Not
only
this
Memorial,
but
the
memories
of
the
men
who
have
died
in
the
line
of
duty
in
our
study
are
etched
into
his
brain
forever.
So
please
help
me
welcome
the
chief
of
police,
Mr,
Daniel
Slaughter.
J
J
J
In
my
service,
with
the
Clearwater
Police
Department,
and
in
my
role
as
chief
of
police
I'm
at
a
loss
for
words
on
what
I
can
say,
do
or
Express
that
will
communicate
to
the
families
and
the
friends,
a
patrolman,
Harry,
Conyers,
Peter
price,
John,
passer
and
Ronald
Mahoney.
How
sorry
we
are
your
families
had
to
Bear
the
pain
that
comes
with
such
a
sacrifice.
J
As
a
young
officer,
I
attended
the
service
regularly
and
I
knew
the
names
and
circumstances
of
how
these
four
Heroes
died.
It
impacted
me,
it
shaped
me
and
was
an
integral
part
of
my
decision
as
I
progressed,
for
example,
whether
this
decision
was
was
right
or
wrong.
I
admit:
I
divested
our
agency
for
motorcycles,
because
I
didn't
did
not
want
officers
policing
on
motorcycles
because
of
how
officers,
Conyers
price
and
passers
died.
J
I
invested
heavily
in
training
and
learning
from
each
other
to
ensure
that
we
give
our
officers
every
opportunity
to
survive
and
fight
through
a
dangerous
situation.
What
it
amazed
me
is
how
much
I
have
not
wanted.
I
have
not
wanted
to.
Let
you,
the
families
of
patrolman
Conyers
price
passer
in
Mahoney
down.
J
J
I
know
there
is
pain
that
comes
with
loss,
but
I
hope,
there's
Pride
on
who
they
were,
what
they
did
and
the
part
they
have
in
your
families.
We
are
certainly
proud
of
them,
as
my
tenure
of
chief
of
police
comes
to
an
end.
I
want
it
to
be
publicly
known
that
meeting
you
all
the
families
of
our
fallen
well,
I
cherish
it.
I
will
always
cherish
it.

Let
this
be
a
small
token
of
our

to
making
sure
that
your
memories
of
your
loved
ones
are
never
forgotten,
cherish
our

I
cherish
our

and
I
look

to
seeing
you
it's
been
many
years
to
come
and
attending
a
wonderful
graduation
coming
up
in
June
Randy.
Thank
you.
A
But
let
me
tell
you
a
story
about
our
keynote
speaker
when
I
was
a
younger
officer,
just
maybe
six
months
onto
our
street
crimes
team,
our
community
problem
response
team,
I,
attended
a
quarterly
training
and
that
the
training
was
how
to
write
a
good
police
report
and
how
to
make
sure
I
had
every
element
of
a
crime
written
within
my
report,
so
that
I
could
successfully
prosecute
the
criminals
that
we
arrested
and
the
trainer
the
speaker
at
that
class
was
none
other
than
this
man.
Mr
Kevin
Hazlett.
A
K
Interesting
and
I
look
at
the
families
here
and
something
that
Jen
poyer
said
that
I
thought
was
interesting
is
that
the
city
of
Clearwater
is
like
a
family
and
we
were
in
Tallahassee
last
weekend
for
my
nephew's
graduation
and
they
were
in
the
capitol
and
they
had
all
the
heroes
of
the
State
of
Florida
and
on
this
wall,
there's
only
like
eight
who've
gotten,
the
like
the
Statewide
police
recognition
and
two
were
Chiefs
from
the
city,
Sid
Clyde
and
Will
Smith,
so
you're
up
there
and
you
go.
Oh
my
gosh
we're
a
really
big
deal.
K
K
So
I'm
glad
that
he's
not
leaving
us,
but
one
of
the
things
he
said
at
the
beginning
of
his
comments.
Is
we
come
here
to
mourn
and
celebrate
and
that's
what
this
is?
We
celebrate
a
job?
Well
done,
we
celebrate
a
force
that
is
to
be
reckoned
with,
not
only
on
the
streets,
keeping
us
safe,
but
also
following
up
in
the
courtroom
where
I
see
all
these
faces
on
the
other
side
of
the
table.
K
K
My
wife
who's
here
on
her
second
date
and
I,
was
an
assistant,
State
Attorney,
making
seventeen
thousand
dollars
a
year
in
1987.
When
that
wasn't
a
lot
of
money
to
impress
her
I
took
her
and
did
a
ride-along
program
with
our
Clearwater
Police
Department
with
Tony
Holloway
Undercover
I,
said
Tony.
Make
me
look
good
I,
don't
have
any
money
I
like
this
girl
I
want
to
marry
her.
So
we
went
a
couple
blocks
from
here
under
cover
and
bought
crack.
K
How
many
love
stories
begin
with
that
I?
Also
thank
the
Clearwater
Police
Department,
because
I'd
like
you,
if
probably
if
you've
got
kids
I've
got
three
sons.
I
got
the
call
at
two
in
the
morning
that
says
we
pulled
over
your
son
and
they
helped
with
a
little
parenting
enforcement
by
issuing
tickets,
which
were
Authority
and
teachable
moment.
K
K
Some
of
these
incidents
in
1977
I
was
in
ninth
grade.
So
I
read
the
news.
I.
Remember
that
I
kind
of
relived
that
my
partner
Paul
Meisner
his
brother,
was
on
the
department
here.
His
dad
rode
a
motorcycle
for
the
city
of
Clearwater,
Police
Department
and,
like
Chief
Slaughter,
said
I'm
glad
we
moved
on
that
because
those
were
dangerous
times.
K
K
Is
that
one
of
the
things
we
do
as
a
society
in
a
city
is
we
celebrate?
Law
enforcement
and
I'll
say
that
probably
the
last
two
years
has
been
the
most
difficult
time
to
be
a
cop
they've
come
under
Fire
for
reasons
that
I
can
kind
of
scratch
my
head:
does
it
make
sense
to
me
they've
taken
I
think
a
lot
of
times,
Focus
that
doesn't
need
to
be
have
their
attention
when
all
the
time
their
goal
is
to
keep
us
safe.
K
We
are
so
fortunate
to
have
the
department
that
we
have
to
have
the
heroes
that
we
have
do.
We
have
the
men
and
women
that
are
making
the
sacrifice
to
put
their
lives
on
the
line
for
us
and,
along
that
theme,
to
mourn
and
celebrate,
we
mourn
The
Lofts
of
these
people
that
were
obviously
so
special
in
your
life.
K
K
K
People
forget
that
he
put
his
life
on
the
line
for
all
of
you
and
I
assume
like
I,
would
think
you
would
think
that
would
be
forgotten,
but
you've
learned
today
in
this
city,
with
this
chief
with
these
people
their
lives,
their
legacies.
Their
sacrifices
will
never
be
forgotten
and
I'm
telling
you
in
cities.
Well,
listen.
K
K
They'll
read
one
of
your
loved
ones,
names
on
the
wall
and
they
will
say
to
their
who's
that
which
gives
an
opportunity
to
tell
the
story,
because,
through
our
lives,
the
way
that
we
are
moved
the
same
way
that
Chief
Slaughter
became
a
member
of
the
police
department.
The
same
way,
we
hope
that
the
city
managers,
since
her
daughter,
will
become
an
officer
they
get
there
because
of
stories.
K
What
happened?
Why
is
this
room
named
this
way
and
I
want
to?
Thank
you
all
for
showing
up
this
day
and
I'm
reminded
when
I
sat
here
today,
and
we
said
it's
a
sunny
day
growing
up
here,
one
of
my
favorite
things
to
do
as
a
kid
was
getting
a
free,
Clearwater
son
and
the
only
way
you
got.
That
is
if
the
sun
didn't
shine,
and
that
didn't
happen
very
often.
K
And
I
leave
you
with
this.
Blessed
are
the
peacekeepers,
so
they
will
be
called
the
children
of
God
I.
Thank
you
for
your
sacrifices
for
your
family,
family
sacrifices
and
I
thank
every
person
in
uniform
and
those
that
will
be
in
uniform
because
of
you.
Because
of
your
determination
and
because
of
your
sacrifice.
We
live
in
a
city,
in
my
opinion,
the
greatest
City
in
the
state
of
Florida,
because
of
because
of
you
thank
you
all
and
have
a
great
day.
A
We've
been
extremely
I
mean
fortunate.
It
might
not
be
the
right
word,
but
we've
been
fortunate
enough
here
at
the
Clearwater
Police
Department
that
we've
not
lost
an
officer
in
the
line
of
duty
in
over
40
years,
but
after
losing
154
across
our
country
and
10
in
the
state
and
even
one
right
around
the
very
corner
from
which
we
stand.
A
In
remembrance
of
the
Century's
old
tradition
dating
back
to
the
time
of
Genghis
Khan
as
a
way
to
remember
memorialize
the
soldiers
in
his
armies
who
rode
with
him
no
more,
we
present
our
riderless
horse,
which
has
been
accustomed
to
a
police
line
of
duty
and
Military
funerals.
Please
pay
attention
to
St
Petersburg
Police
Officer
Carrie
Landis
in
her
riderless
horse
Brooklyn
in
tribute
to
our
fallen.

These
moments
powerful
moments
leave
us
stunned,
confused
hurt
and
without
Direction,
like
a
ship
tossed
about
in
the
middle
of
an
ocean.
These
moments
make
us
ask
some
of
the
biggest
hardest
questions.
We
will
ever
ask
questions
like
how
could
this
have
happened
or
how
could
I
have
let
this
happen
or
even
worse?
Why
did
this
happen?
A
How
messed
up
it
is
I
mean
we.
We
don't
have
to
look
very
far
today
to
have
a
real
picture
of
the
absolute
and
utter
Brokenness
that
we
experience,
but
these
officers
they
saw
the
Brokenness
of
this
world,
and
they
chose
just
like
every
other
officer
standing
here
today
and
every
other
officer
out
there
on
the
street
right
now
they
chose
to
do
something
about
it.
A
A
A
Why
we
ourselves
feel
so
broken
on
a
daily
basis,
and
that's
because
of
our
sin,
I
mean
we
disobey
God
and
that
fractures,
the
relationship
that
he
created
us
for
a
perfect
relationship
Eternal
with
him.
We
chose
to
run
our
own
way
and
now
listen,
I'm,
not
saying
that
any
particular
sin
is
the
cause
of
this
here
today.
What
I'm
saying
is
sin
is
the
reason
for
this
fractured
relationship
and
we
all
try
to
get
back
into
relationship
with
God
in
one
way
shape
or
another.
A
A
A
Well
I'm,
here
to
say
that
the
sacrifice
that
these
officers
made
on
behalf
of
all
of
us
points
us
to
an
even
greater
sacrifice,
and
that's
the
sacrifice
that
Jesus
made
for
us
on
the
cross.
You
see.
God
saw
the
Brokenness
that
we
were
experiencing
in
this
world
and
he
chose
to
take
on
flesh,
become
a
man,
live
a
perfect
sinless
life
and
die
on
the
cross
for
my
sin
and
for
your
sin
so
that
he
could
make
a
way
for
us
to
experience
right
relationship
with
God
so
that
we
could
have
hope.
A
Are
you
looking
for
Hope
today
for
temporary
hope?
We
look.
We
need
to
look
no
further
than
the
families
than
this
ceremony,
but
for
Eternal
hope.
My
prayer
is
that
we
would
we
would
see
them
as
as
the
building.
We
often
look
at
a
building
and
see
the
shadow
that
it
casts
and
often
forget,
the
sun,
which
casts
The
Shadow
buildings.
Look
around
us
are
massive
they're,
huge
they're,
so
important,
but
the
sun
behind
them
is
even
more
glorious.
A
My
prayer
today
is
that
we
would
look
at
this
sacrifice.
Thank
God
and
thank
these
families
for
it.
Thank
these
men
for
what
they've
done,
but
also
turn
and
Trust
in
Jesus.
Put
our
faith
in
him,
for
he
alone
is,
is
the
one
that
can
give
us,
Eternal,
hope
and
so
families
again
I
say.
Thank
you.
Thank
you
for
this
opportunity.
Thank
you
for
this
real
reminder.
A
I
mean,
even
if
it's
only
for
me
that
I
can
put
my
faith
and
trust
in
a
sacrifice
like
your
family
members,
that
I
and
all
these
other
members
of
our
Police
Department
can
take
their
their
their
sacrifice
and
try
to
and
try
to
do
the
same
and
lay
our
lives
on
on
the
throne.
A
Dear
heavenly
father,
again,
we
just
bow
in
your
presence
thankful
for
days
like
today.
God
we
recognize
that
days
like
this
are
hard
but
God.
We
thank
you
that
you've
made
a
way
through
that
difficulty
that
we
can
find
peace,
peace
and
hope,
and
knowing
that
there
are
men
like
these
four
who
are
willing
to
lay
their
lives
on
the
line
for
our
protection,
our
safety
and
also
that
God
that
you
laid
down
your
life
so
that
we
could
have
eternal
peace.
A
A
Again,
I'd
like
to
take
a
moment
and
thank
all
of
our
distinguished
guests
for
being
with
us
here
today,
everyone
for
coming
out
and
showing
your
support
for
our
fallen
and
and
all
most
importantly,
above
all
else,
thank
you
so
much
to
the
family
of
our
survivors.
We
know
you've
all
made
long
Journeys
to
be
with
us
today
and
we
couldn't
thank
you
enough
for
being
with
us.
A
After
the
ceremony
is
concluded.
We
actually
have
a
a
light
lunch
hosted
at
the
police
department
in
our
lineup
room.
So
if
you
would
make
your
way
over
there,
afterwards
we're
catering
lunch
and
we'd
love
to
spend
some
time
together
in
fellowship,
may
God
bless
you
and
keep
you
safe
company
dismissed.
