The birds of prey at moccasin lake were either injured or found to be imprinted.

Imprinted means that they see us as part of their social group and no longer have that healthy fear of humans that keeps them safe in the wild birds raised or cared for by humans can lead to a lack or a loss of essential behavioral or hunting skills to survive with other wild birds.

The birds here have been rehabilitated, but are considered non-releasable because of the extent of their injuries. They will continue to live here at the park where our experienced birds of prey volunteers give them individualized care each and every day.
