Description
Lightning Maple Check
A
The
tampa
bay
area
sees
quite
a
bit
of
lightning
each
year
and
trees
are
common
targets
of
lightning
strikes
because
they
contain
a
lot
of
water
which
conducts
electricity
easily.
When
most
of
the
tree's
moisture
is
contained
in
the
bark,
a
lightning
strike
may
strip
off
a
two
to
three
inch:
wide
slice
of
bark
leaving
a
scar
if
a
tree
is
dry
on
the
outside
and
holds
most
water
in
its
core
lightning
will
carve
a
path
through
the
moist
center
and
damage
the
tree
in
an
explosive
moment
like
what
happened
to
this
tree
twice.
