My
name
is
howard
pendleton,
director
of
workforce
investment
programs
ministered
by
the
columbus
consolidated
government,
job
training
division
over
the
past
several
years.
The
job
training
division
has
administered
local
educational
and
employment
service
programs
to
youth
and
adult
citizens
in
the
lower
chattahoochee
workforce
area.
A
The
counties

make
up
our
area
includes
muskogee,
chattahoochee
clay,
harris,
talbot,
quitman,
randolph
and
stewart
counties.
Our
programs
are
designed
to
address
many
of
your
demands.
Workforce
investment
programs
are
administered
from
congressional
funding
awarded
through
each
state
across
the
nation
to
local
workforce
boards
for
the
purpose
of
implementing
training
programs
and
services
in
their
respective
areas.
That
would
increase
the
productivity
and
competitiveness
of
local
businesses
and
enhance
the
self-sufficiency
of
our
citizens.
B
Hi,
I'm
jamie
lloyd,
vice
president
of
economic
development
at
columbus
technical
college
building,
a
skilled
workforce
is
critical
for
the
economic
well-being
of
our
region.
In
order
to
attract
new
companies
to
our
area
and
help
our
existing
companies
grow,
we
must
continue
providing
the
necessary
training
to
prepare
local
citizens
to
fill
these
positions.
B
The
job
training
program
provides
resources
to
those
who
might
not
otherwise
be
able
to
take
advantage
of
these
opportunities
in
the
business
of
workforce
development.
Our
job
is
to
identify
the
necessary
skill
sets
needed
by
local
business
and
industry
and
develop
training
programs
to
build
the
requisite
workforce.
B
The
workforce
investment
board
provides
a
forum
for
regional
workforce
development
professionals
to
share
information
and
develop
training
opportunities.
They
also
provide
resources
to
help
build
training
capacity
and
high
demand
programs.
This
partnership
results
in
a
win-win
situation
for
all
involved.
C
It
has
been
incredibly
important
to
me.
I
have
gained
so
much
more
than
I
would
have.
It
has
helped
cover
expenses
that
were
unforeseen
in
the
past
and
I
wouldn't
have
had
the
money
to
pay
for
it,
just
simply
because
I'm
unemployed
and
in
a
program
right
now
that
runs
from
8
in
the
morning
till
5
6
7
at
night.
A
D
First
went
overseas
when
I
was
working
at
charbroil
derbyshire
bradley
and
they
offered
me
a
opportunity
to
return
to
school
and
change
my
job
career
and
I've
always
wanted
to
work
on
cars.
So
I
decided
to
take
up
automotive
technology
at
columbus
tech
and
during
that
time
I
had
a
4.0
grade
average
and
I
was
able
to
get
into
the
job
training
program
and
that's
the
way
I
came
through
to
j
automotive.
E
Well,
robert
is
a
really
success
story.
We
got
involved
with
the
program.
He
was
one
of
the
first
people
that
we
had
in
and
we
got
him
into
the
system
here
got
him
into
the
j
team.
He
was
well
trained
and
just
immediate
benefit
to
us
from
the
first
day
day,
one
that
he
came
in
had
a
wonderful
work
out
of
attitude,
work,
habits
and
training
skills
and
the
program
worked
with
him
monitored
him
give
me
calls
and
updates
weekly.
E
It
was
just
a
wonderful
situation
where
they
were
concerned
about
him.
His
cobb
would
check
on
him
all
the
time
to
make
sure
everything
was
going
along
if
there's
anything
they
needed
to
help
and
assist
him
with.
So
it
was
very
beneficial
to
robert
and
getting
robert
redirected,
and
it
was
beneficial
to
the
j
family
of
getting
a
valued
employee.
F
Hello,
my
name
is
barbara
jackson.
The
wia
program
was
very
important
to
me
and
made
a
difference
in
my
life.
I
worked
in
the
textile
manufacturing
industry
for
over
25
years.
As
an
hr
specialist,
I
had
a
child
that
had
recently
graduated
from
college
and
one
child
in
junior
high.
The
wia
program
helped
me
personally
and
professionally
after
working
for
25
years
in
the
same
industry
and
being
faced
with
unemployment
at
the
age
of
48.
I
knew
that
getting
the
education
would
be
the
best
way
for
me
to
maintain
the
same.
F
F
The
wia
program
did
just
that
after
enrolling
at
csu,
the
classroom
environment
was
traditional,
but
now
classes
assignments
and
appointments
were
being
made
via
the
internet.
This
type
of
experience
helped
to
prepare
me
for
the
job.
I
would
soon
be
looking
for
after
graduating.
With
my
degree,
I
found
employment
in
the
healthcare
industry
and
I
was
able
to
reach
my
goal
of
not
only
maintaining
my
salary
but
increasing
it.
I
could
not
have
done
that
without
wia.
D
C
Would
encourage
everyone
who
wants
to
go
out
and
get
a
great
education
to
look
into
taking
and
getting
on
with
wia?
It's
not
hard
to
do
it's
just
a
few
hours
of
your
time
of
tests
of
english
and
math
proficiency
tests
not
hard
to
do
at
all.
Miss
mays,
miss
corey
and
miss
hill
here
are
just
wonderful.
Everyone
at
the
unemployment
office
are
wonderful,
also
just
a
really
great
experience.
We.
A
G
Hello,
I'm
chester,
randolph,
chairman
of
the
lower
chattahoochee
workforce
board.
Over
the
past
several
years.
Our
program
successes
has
been
outstanding,
providing
some
employment
for
youth
in
achieving
full,
full-time
permanent
placement
for
many
of
our
aerial
adult
citizens.
In
these
economic
times
as
a
business
leader,
I
know
the
challenges
facing
many
of
you
as
large
and
small
business
owner
in
acquiring
and
maintaining
a
trained
skilled
workforce,
the
workforce
investment.
G
Our
mission
is
to
provide
a
unique
workforce,
preparation
and
employment
opportunity
system
that
enhances
the
competitiveness
of
citizens
in
our
local
labor
market
and
brought
in
the
pool
of
skilled
workers
needed
by
local
businesses
to
provide
quality
services
and
training
programs
that
are
conducive
to
the
demand
of
local
employees
for
skilled
workers,
all
in
an
effort
to
increase
our
workforce
area
competitiveness
in
this
global
economy.
It's.
H
It's
a
good
partnership
that
our
plant
management
can
use
to
evaluate
employees
while
they're
being
trained.
We
had
a
need
when
we
first
got
with
the
program
for
15
people,
we
were
putting
in
a
rotation
shift
to
relieve
our
operators.
We
have
a
plant
that
runs
five
days
a
week.
Our
business
had
been
good
and
it
had
grown
to
seven
days
a
week,
so
we
needed
to
give
those
people
some
time
off.
G
14
and
the
self-sufficiency
of
its
workers
provide
participants
of
our
programs
the
opportunity
to
build
a
better
future
for
their
families
and
enhance
the
economic
growth
of
our
local
communities
to
partner
with
businesses
to
identify
those
skill
sets
that
are
needed
to
assist
individuals
seeking
to
enhance
their
quality
of
life
to
be
more
competitive
and
marketable
in
the
local
labor
market.
The.
I
The
kids
have
been
very
important
to
southwest
georgia,
regional
medical
center,
randolph
medical
associates
and
joanne
virgin
nursing
home.
They
help
our
patients
and
our
clients
and
our
residents
and
each
year
we
look
forward
to
working
with
them
where
they
learn
on
the
job
skills
we
help
them
later
in
the
future.
For
future
employment.
G
E
H
H
But
there
were
not
many
programs
available
to
help
existing
employers
to
train
employees
for
replacement
needs
or
in
a
situation
like
us,
this
group
came
in,
they
worked
with
us,
they've
been
very
flexible
to
meet
our
needs
and
they've
done
a
good
job
and
we
would
highly
recommend
them
to
any
other
employer
in
the
area.
Most.
